But dual clutch is the same price and actually more efficient than manual.
And a hybrid transmission is even more efficient than that.
Stick shift is destined to disappear.

All those things are true but none of the alternatives are as engaging to drive as a manual. Assuming you know how to drive one.

Manuals are still widely available and used in Europe.

Yes. I am a millennial. but when one of our vendors invited us to see their factory in Germany, I saved the bacon of the other two guys on the trip because I was the only one who could drive our rental car. The guy who organized the trip was at the rental counter begging them to find an automatic car. There were none.
But the love Europeans have for those used to be rational. It isn't anymore.

It's like the joke, lol. Auto theft deterrent for millennials? A stick shift.

Of course it's not rational. The enjoyment of driving a stick is visceral. That's the whole point.

Until you're stuck in stop and go traffic for an hour while driving a manual clutch. I know this.

My first drive experience outside of driver's ed in high school was my mom's '74 Ford F-100 pick-up. It was a "three on the tree" and I was terrified of it. Lol. After awhile I figured it out and loved it. I've always preferred stick shift over automatic. My SIL couldn't drive a stick to save her life and has no intention of learning. I told her she's missing out on living her best life.  Big Grin

Speaking of Europe; I was beyond thankful I knew how to drive a stick while living in Germany because yes, the only rentals they had were manual transmission.

I hear you. I learned to drive with a manual on the column.

The first time we went to England, our rental was a diesel Kia with a manual and the steering wheel on the "wrong" side. Shifting with my left hand took some getting used to.  Smile

The enhanced level of control (I'll decide when it's time to shift, thank you), coupled with the sheer power of the right drive train is what made it special.
The math looks like this (V8 + 4 spd + 12 bolt posi = FUN).

Florida isn't too bad because it's so flat.   A city commute in a mountainous region takes it to a whole new level.
Oh the joy of stopping at a light going uphill and praying the car behind doesn’t stop too close.

This is so true! Laughing

I have a PayPal account, and I've never shown PayPal any kind of photo id. This is probably fake.
You also don't usually need an ID to get a credit card, although you do need one to open a bank account.

How do you pay your credit card?

Yo, Mike. Still waiting on your response how you pay your credit card statement.

Stop pretending to care what I have to say. The only point I was making is the twitter conversation with PayPal was probably fake.

I will answer for you.

You pay your credit card (which you don't need an ID for) with your checking account (which you do need an ID for). The PayPal response was not fake.
I wonder if the MLB commish will relinquish his membership at the racist Augusta National Golf Club.
