I dont see how anybody can say our CB depth is fine, Prince was signed to a 1 year deal for a reason, I like Colvin but he is overrated on this board, House is good, the rest is trash.

And Dave has made good decisions but he has also made mistakes, like I said before we need all the pieces we can get, we can get stuck in the we have to only sign guys 24-26

I just can't believe some on this board. They are just used to mediocrity. House is the only CB on this team worth mentioning.

Amukamara was signed to a 1 year deal because he has gotten hurt the last couple years due to freak injuries. House is above average. Colvin is average and still very young, and in the slot fits him perfectly.

House, Prince, Colvin is definitely a very solid top 3 corners. We have an entire draft to get more help. Marshall has promise as well. McCray is probably done here, as is Gratz. That top 3 with a rookie in rd 2/3 and Marshall as a top 5 set of corners is perfectly fine.

Yup, Amukamara who was very good anytime he played in NYG isn't worth mentioning. Give me a freaking break.

Colvin may be overrated but he is a decent corner. Please tell me how you expect corners to succeed when you have to cover for 7+ seconds because you can't get any, literally zero, pressure on the QB.
Quote:@charlesrobinson Source says Josh Norman will approach free agency carefully. Money, city, team makeup, coach, ownership - it's about right combo, not just $
Money - We have the money

City - Does he like Jacksonville, I heard on the radio he does have family here and went to a church here this offseason

Team makeup - We are a team viewed to be on the rise with a good QB

Coach - Gus is a defensive coach similar to Ron Rivera and also player friendly

Ownership - Khan has been doing great things for the team

Looks like we should fit those things, so it comes down to Dave Caldwell
I don't think our situation at CB is locked. But I also think Dave considers the price tag for him may be too steep. Also, we really don't know much about this guy other than being great this year (didn't stand out prior). Maybe Dave doesn't think as high of him as a lot do. We could use a good vet like him with Super Bowl experience, but there's no guarantee that he'd be that guy here. So I understand (if it's true) why Dave isn't showing interest yet. But I do think we should gauge his interest. He's an upgrade over everyone behind House. So I agree, we should be contacting to see at the very least. But it's not over, so anything can happen still.

GO JAGS!!

Honestly though, shoutout to Dave for not throwing the house at Norman right now. Of course he's a really good player, but making Norman the highest paid CB in the league would be a mistake. We have competitive corners and we should be more interested in upgrading the front 7. I bet if this were Von Miller, then Dave would have thrown the historic contract at him. Not for a CB. Can't wait for the draft.

Umm, it's been pretty well known he's all for big cities. Jacksonville is not that.

Coach - If Gus has a poor season he may very well be out, I'm sure the coaching he's talking about is more stability to go along with what he wants.
Aaron Colvin is not overrated! He was one of the only guys to make plays without a pass rush last season. If he were a FA, teams would be all over him.
Schemewise Carolina ran Cover 2 whereas we want to run Cover 3

Amukamara is not as good as you make him seem. I've seen alot of him.

I think we're interested, but it's very early in the process. I'd like to at least talk to him to see where he's at. I agree though, Norman is a good CB, but I'm not at that point where I put him with the likes of Revis and Sherman, and he wants to be paid more than them. I get we have the money and all, but he's also a bit of a headcase and risky here. He was great in the Panthers scheme but he has to be a great fit here for him to be close to what he was last year. It's not cut and dry, where he's the same player here that he was there.

I have too, since we got him I've watched a lot of his game film.I don't see how saying he's an above average CB when healthy is untrue. Go look at any of the GIants writers write on Amukamara. He's not a top CB, but he's our #2 corner. That is very solid. Our top three corners are much better than you are leading on. You act like we have nothing besides House...that's not true at all.

I tend to agree with this.  Heck, 2 years ago, I had no idea who Josh Norman was; now, I get word that he's only 2 years younger than that old guy, Darrell Revis

Is he better than Norman?

Last Year we ran Cover 0
Let me jump in that I'm not sold on Norman.  He has been average for the most part his previous seasons, had one really good contract year season, and the team that franchised him decided to let him go for who knows what reason?  All signs point to a scary free agent signing.

Brkly is the first person to turn around in a year after a bust season for Norman and blame Caldwell.  TMD as well on Twitter....you guys are saying the same thing on both platforms....

This is crazy lol

Where is it well known he is all for big cities? He is from a small town in NC, and always lived in NC, one report said he would like to play in Cali, that is all is known, that doesnt mean he wants to play in any big city that throws money at him.
