Speaking of Tag and trade scenarios, the Dolphins are floating the idea that they intend to tag Olivier Vernon (with $15.7 Mil - Franchise Tag) and then trade him, but there seems to be one little glitch in their plan. Currently they have only $8.93 Mil in cap space. Unless they cut a bunch of players to get the extra $6.77 MIl, they can't perform this little maneuver. They also need the rookie pool which has to be a few million in and of itself.

I think that the Dolphins are blowing smoke, since they have gotten no where on a long term deal for Vernon.

Olivier Vernon and Malik Jackson could very well be Jags on March 7th.

I think the Jags would rather sign these two players than trade draft picks for Wilkerson or even Chandler Jones.

Funny there are no rumors of Chandler Jones being offered up in trade by the Patriots.

Fast and Furious, come March 7th the Jags sign

Free Agency:

1. Malik Jackson - DT - Broncos - 13 Mil/Season Average - Can play 5 Tech spelling Odrick or spell either Marks or Miller (on passing downs).

2. Olivier Vernon - DE - Dolphins - 13 Mil/Season Average - Can be a 10 Sack a season guy but needs help and he will have the help on the Jags roster getting pressure

3. Sean Smith - CB - Chiefs - 10 Mil/Season Average - Big CB to play opposite Davon House - older player but played strong down the stretch.

4. Tashaun Gipson - FS - Browns - 10 Mil/Season - Down year in 2015 due to ankle injury, will miss games but can be a difference maker as the Single High Safety

Jags spend 46 Mil in Free Agency leaving plenty to spend next year when Bortles and Robinson have to be re-signed to long term deals

Then comes the draft

Rd 1(5): Joey Bosa - DE - Ohio State - more and more looks like he will be the pick, the Chargers take Ramsey or Buckner, Cowboys take Goff, Myles or even Spence.

Rd 2(38): Ryan Kelly - C - Alabama - the final piece of the puzzle to kick start the Jags running game. Kelly between Cann and Linder allows the Jags to release Beadles and save his cap space

Rd 3(69): Xavien Howard - CB - Baylor - Big physical CB that has the knack for the INT - will be the heir apparent to Sean Smith in 2 years

Rd 4(105) Paul Perkins - RB - UCLA - Not a burner but a slasher - much like Devonta Freeman - great change of pace RB to T.J. Yeldon

Rd 5(141): Kevin Byard - SS - Middle Tennessee State - Thumper SS who has hands for INT - Sample and Byard may be the SS duo with Cyprien on his way out next year in Free Agency

Rd 6(177): Josh Forrest - ILB - Kentucky - developmental ILB who I believe has a little Danny Trevathan in him.

Rd 6(193): T.J. Green - FS - Clemson - 2nd leading tackler on Clemson defense - still learning position - switched from WR to FS in 2013

Rd 7(213): Ejiro Ederaine - OLB - Fresno State - super sleeper that can do it all, with 9 sacks, 16.5 TFL, 2 Ints, 4 PD, and 99 TT

Free Agency:

Eric Weddle

Malik Jackson

Sean Smith

Draft:

Rd. 1  Bosa

Rd. 2  Ryan Kelly

Rd. 3  Josh Perry

Rd. 4  Joe Haeg

Rd. 5  Antonio Morrison

Rd. 6 and 7 BAP from small schools

Quote:The scuttlebutt at the Combine is that Tashaun Gipson is up for a big payday in Free Agency with a number of teams pursuing his services. If the Jags want him I think they will be paying in the range of 10 Mil per season.

I'm thinking Gipson will be a priority free agent for the Jags. Rumors were that they were interested in him last year even with him being tendered at a 2nd round draft pick.

I wonder why Antonio Morrison blew off the Combine?

Rick Ballou reported such just a day or so ago.

Morrison had interviews that he simply did not attend.

I heard that the demand for Eric Weddle is just luke warm according to his agent speaking at the Combine.

Dunno but it's definitely not a good look considering the combine is basically a job interview.

Thats good to hear

Last year he began showing signs of decline. This isn't a huge surprise. He can still find a role on a team looking for a stop gap while a rookie is groomed behind him.

Sounds like this could a perfect situation for the Jags

And I would be OK with that.
I think Myles Jack would be my pick if the draft was tomorrow.

I won't have a problem with Ramsey,Vh3 or Bosa being the pick either though.

Who knows.  Maybe it's easier to apologize for a missed interview than a failed drug test.
Now that the Tags have been set, my projected off-season acquistions

Rd 3(69). Jordan Jenkins - Otto Lb - Georgia - Jenkins and Skuta at the Otto

Rd 4(105): DeAndre Houston-Carson - FS - William & Mary - small school FS/CB hybrid backs up Gipson at FS - bye bye Sergio, say hello to Rick Flair

Of the Jags FA... Anger? Wisniewski? I think they should get an offer.

Things are starting to clear up, pretty much clear as mud.

Free Agency

3. Bruce Irvin - Otto LB / Leo DE - 9.5 Mil/Season - Seems like everyone is calling this a done deal

4. Tashaun Gipson - FS - Browns - 9 Mil/Season - Jags must sign a FS before entering the draft

5. Jeff Allen - OG - Chiefs - 6 Mil/Season - Jags sign an OG allowing Linder to move to Center - Jags need a Center - so this is a must move

6. Robert Ayers - DE - Giants - 6 Mil/Season - Jags sign a rotational Leo DE for a reasonable contract

7. Chris Ivory - RB - Jets - 4 Mil/Season - Jags sign a backup RB and short yardage RB to compliment T.J. Yeldon

Defensive Line upgraded and LB Corps looks like Carolina

Jerry Jones: Cowboys won't draft QB with No. 4 overall pick

Tweet from Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) - One takeaway from #NFLCombine: UCLA LB Myles Jack may be the player coaches are most excited about. They think he can play about 5 positions

He's got to be the pick. He could possibly fix the defense all on his own...
I think he's a better cover corner than Jalen Ramsey  Ninja
