Quote:I think Myles Jack would be my pick if the draft was tomorrow.

I won't have a problem with Ramsey,Vh3 or Bosa being the pick either though.

What about Noah Spence? Couple him with Fowler?

I would take Spence at about pick #10.   Not at pick #5.   Too many questions about his past substance abuse.   But if we could trade down and get an extra high 2nd round pick, I might take Spence at around #10.
I was ok with Spence at 5 until I read that he left a really bad taste in teams mouths during interviews. He also did far worse than expected in drills too, but that isn't even as important for him.

Spence is going to take a drop like Gregory did last year.

Which could be good for us.

Ramsey/Jack/Bosa in the first and Spence in the 2nd.
I will base this on the few hints we have got from Dave/Gus and the little nuggets I have seen on twitter. I will try and keep this one realistic (IE not having all top 10 FAs signing here)

FA:

Bruce Irvin - OTTO

Alex Mack - C

Tashaun Gipson - FS

Draft:

1) Jalen Ramsey - CB/FS

2) Noah Spence - LEO (if he falls I think he is our guy)

3) Jaylon Smith - LB (Apparently was very high on our board prior to the injury)

4) Javon Hargrave - DT

5) Alex McCalister - LEO

6) Daniel Lasco - RB

6) James Bradberry CB

7) Tyler Johnstone - OT

UDFA:

Alex Kindal - P

Reggie Northrupp - LB

Based on Dave's comments, I could see Beadles, Gerhart, and Clemons all sticking around to camp to battle for a spot... Dave said we would have an influx of pass rushers, which would be Fowler, Spence, Irvin, Marks, McCalister, Clemons/Davis, and Hargrave (more realistic then Irvin, Vernon, Jackson, Bosa, Spence, etc all ending up here). Training camp would give us this roster.

QB - Bortles, Henne

RB - Yeldon, Gray, Lasco, Robinson/Gerhart/Grant

WR - Robinson, Walters/Sterling/Benn

WR - Hurns, Lee, Greene

TE - Thomas, Harbor, Koyack

TE - Lewis, Jacobs

LT - Joeckel, Wells

LG - Cann, Beadles

C - Mack, Bowanko

RG - Linder, Shatley

RT - Parnell, Johnstone

LEO - Fowler, Spence, Clemons/Davis/McCalister

DT - Marks, Hargrave, Bennett

NT - Miller, Jones

DE - Odrik, Alualu

WLB - Telvin, Tripp/Northrupp

MLB - Poz, J.Smith (IR)

OTTO - Irvin, Skuta

CB - House, Colvin, Bradberry

FS - Gipson, Evans, Wolff

SS - Cyprien/Sample

CB - Ramsey, Marshall/McCray

K - Myers

P - Kindal

LS - Tinker

Probably the most realistic FA list I've seen around here, although I think it is safe to add a second tier CB and DE to the mix. I hope Clemons is shown the door before training camp. The guy was a cone out there last season.

Only thing I'd do different is if he lasts that long, ID take nkemdiche with our third Rd pick. I might even trade up two or three spots for him. Not more than that though.

In that situation I probably wouldn't take Hargreave right there. I'd probably go best Cb available.

feeling like Spence is gonna be Von Miller, Khalil Mack esque, and some team will have the next generation elite pass rusher

First rule of news before the draft is don't believe anything. Only legit news you'll hear is a couple days before from a trusted source like Glazer or Schefter.
I feel like a few teams are going to pass on Myles Jack and those few teams are going to regret it for a long time.

I hope he ends up a Jaguar.

There has been this rumor that the Jags are interested in Jeff Allen - OG for the Chiefs. The recent chatter on talk radio suggests that Jeff Allen may not be the true target for the Jags. The Jags need a power OG that weighs in around 315+ and Allen just does not fit that bill. One player that might fit that bill that seems to be flying under the radar is

Ramon Foster - OLG - Steelers

PFF ranked him as the No. 8 OG

He is 6'6" 330 Lbs and is adept at both the run and the pass.

Seems to me to be the perfect target for the Jags if indeed they wish to move Linder to Center and keep Cann at ORG.

Yeah.  He's a viable option at guard.  I actually "mocked" him to us in that thread with the "mid-tier" option.
I just wanna know, why is everyone trying to sign free agent guards and move one of our young beastly guards into center?

Instead of letting those young guards grow as pivotal anchors of a young line.

Address C in free agency (my preference is to retain Wiz for a cheaper contract than Mack)

Possibly address OT in the mid rounds of the draft.
If the Jags are truly going to kick-start the running game they need the horses to do just that.

Cann and Linder are great power OGs, but the Jags lack power at the Center position and Alex Mack is not truly considered at Power Center.

The Jags thinking is to move their bet Olineman to Center (QB of the Oline) and then sign a big powerful OG, preferably to OLG to help Joeckel.

Right now, I think Ramon Foster should be that guy.

It is Friday and the spending begins on Monday. I feel like a 5 year old on Christmas eve.

Since this is all make-believe, let's go and spend some of that 85+ Million in cap space.

Free Agency

1. Malik Jackson - DT - Broncos - 13 Mil/Season - Jags must put more upfront money into Jackson's pockets because that is really what is guaranteed.

2. Sean Smith - CB - Chiefs - 11 Mil/Season - True No. 1 CB that really improves the secondary

3. Bruce Irvin - Otto - Seahawks - 10 Mil/Season - 4.5 speed Otto LB to cover TEs and RBs as well as rush the passer on the strong side of the LOS.

4. Tashaun Gipson - FS - Browns - 9 Mil/Season - Ballhawk Centerfielder that is still young

5. Jason Pierre Paul - DE - Giants - 9 Mil/Season - The other Leo to rotate with Dante Fowler

6. Ramon Foster - OLG - Steelers - 7 Mil/Season - Dominant OLG that can help kick start the Jags running game

7. Chris Ivory - RB - Jets - 4 Mil/Season - Short Yardage runner that can score from the 2 yard line

Free Agent Spending Spree: $63 Mil

Draft:

Rd 1(5) Myles Jack - MLB - UCLA - He will change the way the Jags defense will be viewed with his play in the middle - Telvin Smith - Myles Jack and Bruce Irvin - the three fastest LBs in football

Rd 2(38): Austin Johnson - DT - Penn State - The Jags must keep the oline off the Jags LBs so that they LBs can make plays - it starts with beef up front like Johnson - a true run stuffer to team with Roy MIller

Rd 3(69): Jordan Jenkins - Otto LB - Georgia - In two or three years - the Jags dump Irvin for Jenkins and so it goes with draft choices replacing older Free Agents

Rd 4(105): James Bradberry - CB - Samford - A Big CB from a small school - true sleeper

Rd 5(144): Tyler Johnstone - OT - Oregon - The Jags need a swing OT and Johnstone could be very good once he puts on some weight

Rd 6(177): Matt Judon - DE - Grand Valley State - Small school DE that could be the 3rd Leo

Rd 6(193): Trae Elston - S - Mississippi - Sleeper Safety prospect that is could play either FS or SS

Rd 7(213): Ejiro Ederaine - OLB - Fresno State - Do it all WLB

Guess this is what will happen..... oh darn.
Seven FA acquisitions? Doubt it.

Good stuff, but I really doubt they sign so many free agents that will command more than 5 mil per year.  I'd guess two of those big money guys, and maybe three more that garner significantly less money.

I also don't see them drafting an OTTO specific guy if they sign Irvin and retain Skuta (which they almost certainly will.)

Now - if they see Jenkins as a guy that can rotate at LEO productively, then... maybe. I kinda' like that idea, actually.

I like the Judon pick a lot.
After listening to Jaguars Today, the consensus seems to be that the Jags will immediately go after Olivier Vernon and while they are waiting for the Dolphins to make their play they will continue to shop. They also seemed to think that if they are in play with Vernon they will skip on Irvin and JPP just is not in the plans.

Accordingly, my mock off-season changes a bit

1. Olivier Vernon - DE - Dolphins - 14 Mil/Season

2. Sean Smith - CB - Chiefs - 11 Mil/Season

3. Tashaun Gipson - FS - Browns - 9 Mil/Season

4. Ramon Foster - OLG - Steelers - 7 Mil/Season

5. Chris Ivory - RB - Jets - 4 Mil/Season

Draft

Rd 1(5): Myles Jack - MLB - UCLA

Rd 2(38): Jonathan Bullard - DE - Florida - Plays the Strong side Big DE and allows Odrick to play more 3 Tech

all the other picks the same.
