Question:
Might the Jags have any interest in Damon Harrison - NT - Jets and if so at what price point?
He is a 2 down - DT - is he 6 Mil or less?
Is he worth signing to rotate with Roy MIller?
I am thinking that if the Jags decide not to pay Tashaun Gipson - might they pursue Rashad Johnson - FS - Cardinals instead?
I am wondering if Rashad Johnson is one of those bargain Free Agent signings kinda like Skuta.
FA:
Olivier Vernon - LEO
Bruce Irvin - OTTO
Jeff Allen - G
Walter Thurmond - CB/FS - Used to play under Gus Bradley in Seattle. Could play either FS or CB so gives us some flexibility
Draft:
1) Joey Bosa - DE/DT
2) Karl Joseph - FS
3) Jaylon Smith - LB - To be redshirted assuming the knee is salvageable
4) Javon Hargrave - DT
5) Alex McCalister - LEO
6) James Bradberry - CB
6) Daniel Lasco - RB
7) Tyler Johnstone - OT
Projected Lineup:
QB - B.Bortles, C.Henne
RB - T.Yeldon, J.Gray, D.Robinson, D.Lasco, T.Gerhart/C.Grant
WR - A.Robinson, B.Walters/N.Sterling/A.Benn
WR2 - A.Hurns, M.Lee, R.Greene
TE - J.Thomas, C.Harbor, B.Koyack
TE2 - M.Lewis, N.Jacobs
LT - L.Joeckel, J.Wells
LG - J.Allen
C - A.Cann, L.Bowanko
RG - B.Linder, T.Shatley
RT - J.Parnell, T.Johnstone, S.Young
LEO - O.Vernon, D.Fowler, A.McCalister, R.Davis
DT - J.Odrik/S.Marks, M.Bennett
NT - R.Miller, J.Hargrave/A.Jones
DE - J.Bosa, T.Alualu
WLB - T.Smith, H.Pullard
MLB - P.Poz, J.Tripp, J.Smith (IR)
OTTO - B.Irvin, D.Skuta
CB - W.Thurmond, A.Colvin, D.McCray
FS - K.Joseph, J.Evans
SS - J.Cyprien/J.Sample
CB - D.House, J.Bradberry, N.Marshall
K - J.Myers
P - A.Kinal
LS - C.Tinker
Damon Harrison is one of the best (if not the best) against the run. Don't ask him to rush the passer.
Same with Ian Williams.
Sure the Jags can dream, but most likely they will not get all the Free Agents they want, so here is my latest projection
Free Agency
1. Olivier Vernon - DE - Dolphins - 14.5 Mil/Yr
2. Sean Smith - CB - Chiefs - 11 MIl/Yr
3. Jaye Howard - DT - Chiefs - 7.5 Mil/Yr
4. Walter Thurmond - FS - Eagles - 6 MIl/Yr
5. Chris Ivory - RB - Jets - 4 MIl/Yr
Draft:
Rd 1(5): Myles Jack - LB - UCLA
Rd 2(38): Jonathan Bullard - DE - Florida
Rd 3(69): Jordan Jenkins - Otto LB - Georgia
Rd 4(105): DeAndre Houston-Carson - FS - William & Mary
Rd 5(144): Connor McGovern - OG - Missouri
Rd 6(177): Tyler Johnstone - OT - Oregon
Rd 6(193): Matt Judon - DE - Grand Valley State
Rd 7(213): Trae Elston - SS - Mississppi

Where's Irvin? He seems like a virtual lock to sign with Jacksonville!
What if the Jags decide not to chase Vernon or Jackson, then what? Here is what I think might happen.
Free Agency
1, Sean Smith - CB - Chiefs - 11 Mil/Yr - No. 1 CB opposite House, with Colvin at nickle
2. Tashaun Gipson - FS - Browns - 9 Mil/Yr - Single-high Free Safety - Jags sweeten deal with incentives to push contract to 10 MIl/Yr if incentives met
3. Bruce Irvin - Otto LB - Seahawks - 9.5 Mil/Yr - Pushes Skuta to bench and to Leo play
4. Jaye Howard - DT - Chiefs - 8.5 MIl/Yr - True 3 Tech to rotate with Marks
5. Robert Ayers - DE (Leo) - Giants - 8.5 Mil/Yr - Not Vernon but 9.5 Sacks in Giants defense is not bad for a backup Leo
6. Tamba Hali - DE (Leo) - Chiefs - 6.5 MIl/Yr - Prove it deal as a rotational player - should thrive
7. Chris Ivory - RB - Jets - 4 MIl/Yr - Short Yardage RB - Yeldon/Ivory tandem - Toby Gerhart released shortly thereafter to recoup salary cap space
Total Spent: 57 Mil - should be noted that Hali could be cut after 2016 and Ayers after 2017 - leaving cap room for re-signing emerge Jag players
(Cutting Gerhart releases his 3.5 MIl cap hit so spending is still 57 MIl out of 92.5 MIl leaving 35.5 Mil - The Jags should be able to roll over 25+ Mil to cap next year)
(Might Alualu be another candidate for release of his 4 Mil/Yr salary?)
Draft:
Rd 1(5): Myles Jack - ILB - UCLA - Pushes Poz to the bench for final season with Jags - Irvin-Jack-Smith - fastest LB corps in NFL
Rd 2(38): Jonathan Bullard - DE - Florida - Will rotate with Odrick at 5 Tech - Big DE position
Rd 3(69): Nick Martin - C - Notre Dame - Plug him at Center on Day One.
Rd 4(105): Sean Davis - FS - Maryland - Will backup of Gipson at FS
Rd 5(144): Paul Perkins - RB - UCLA - Jags draft a versatile RB that can fit into the rotation
Rd 6(177): Tyler Johnstone - OT - Oregon - Backup Swing OT
Rd 6(193): Matt Judon - DE - Grand Valley State - Backup Leo - goodbye Chris Smith
Rd 7(213): Trae Elston - SS - Mississippi - more of a coverage SS than a thumper - although he can tackle
Sean Smith/Bruce Irvin/Tama Hali/Leon Hall(4th string)
Draft
Jalen Ramsey
Vernon Butler
Nick Martin
A MLB
Would it be that big of a surprise if the Jags signed Kraig Urbik - OLG - formerly of the Bills to a low cost Free Agent contract given that Doug Marrone, the Jags Oline coach was also Urbik's coach at Buffalo?
I think Urbik at 30 years old is a great low cost insurance policy in case of injury at OG or OT.
Free Agency :
1- Bruce Irvin, OTTO
2- Danny Trevathan, MLB
3- Walter Thurmond, CB
4- Jason Pierre-Paul, DE
Draft :
1st round : Jalen Ramsey, S
2nd round : Ryan Kelly, Center
3rd round : Kenny Clark, DT

Well, I mean, aside from the fact that he's said he'd prefer to remain in Seattle, and the very widespread belief that his preferred destination is Atlanta.

Yeah, we can probably disregard the 200 or so Jaguars followers on Twitter he's added in the last few days...I'm sure it is just a random coincidence.

Probably not. He may well be gauging the reception he'd get, or maybe he's already decided that he wants to go to Jacksonville. Whatever the case may be, it's far from the "virtual lock" you're positioning it as. He's already let it be known publicly that he'd prefer to stay in Seattle, and privately that he wants to go to Atlanta. Maybe the Jaguars can overcome all of that, or maybe he becomes just another free agent flirtation whose price was driven too high by a team willing to far outspend his value.

That doesn't mean he won't go to ATL, especially after all the reports stating how that's where he'd go if Seattle let him go. That was just regarding a guy in ATL who got shot that was famous.
The Falcons are reported to be hot for Danny Trevathan. I'd be happy to settle for Irvin.

I have a good friend from Detroit that is in the NFL. He says the same thing. He also said that all of his local friends would constantly be at his place mooching off him, so playing somewhere away from home is better.
If only we had interest in Trevathan....favorite free agent this year followed by Sean Smith
