CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora expects the Jaguars to "make a very strong play" for free agent Ndamukong Suh.
The Jaguars are sitting on a pile of cash, and owner Shad Khan is ready to open the wallet. They've been linked to a ton of big-name free agents thus far, including Randall Cobb and Julius Thomas. Suh would be the centerpiece of coach Gus Bradley's aggressive, attacking defense. The only thing is convincing Suh to be part of another rebuild. He's going to break the bank wherever he signs.
The Jaguars won't be messing around come 03/10/15.
WAYYYYYY UP I FEEL BLESSED
I've never been more aroused in my life.
I guess if it happens I will learn to embrace the nastiness. Dude is dirty for reals tho.
Quote:Do it Caldwell!
Some people around here are "scared" of the contract, but are ok with paying Marcedes Lewis $8M/year, that logic makes a lot of sense. Suh would instantaneously be the best defender in the history of the Jaguars the moment he's signed, like you said, do it Caldwell.
just throw money at all the big name FAs we got money to buuuuuurn

It feels different when he is your dirty player.

We have money to burn and have no one the current roster that warrants a significant contract extension for a long time, we're setup perfectly.

Haha exactly, we can use a "nasty" player on the defensive side of the ball, nothing would make me happier than seeing Suh absolutely pummel the media darling Andrew Luck.
If he becomes available, then you absolutely try to get him here.
Imagine this:
Fowler - Suh - Marks - Davis
on obvious passing downs

Nasty defensive line, and yes if he makes it to the FA market you go after him, he's a once in a generational player.
Omg...
please please please lol
I'd be stunned if he somehow got out of Detroit. However, it is up to him due to the way Detroit has mishandled their cap. They can't afford to tag him according to various media reports. The problem is, they could sign 2-3 quality players for the price he'll cost.
Not surprised, but a lot of people here scoffed at the idea that we would pursue Suh.
Suh is going to cost somewhere in the $17m per year range with a 5-6 year deal, and over $50m in guaranteed dollars. The good news he just turned 28, so he should have something left in the tank for the majority of a contract like this. He would be a serious addition and clearly an impact player, in which the Jags need. I would be elated if they can sign him away from Detroit, but would be hopeful that committing that amount of dollars to one player does not mean that another quality player of need (such as Bulaga at right tackle) could be signed.
Why do I feel this is more Lacinfora's speculation rather than a valid rumor?
I aint gettin my hopes up but if we sign this guy i will be the happiest i have been when it comes to the jags in a long time.
Any big name FA is going to be mentioned in the same sentence as Jacksonville and/or Oakland, if nothing more than the fact we're among the teams with the most cap room.
Hope it's true that we've got a chance. But if not him, I do expect at least one if not a couple big names signed just because we've got the firepower to go where some teams can't.
Of all the possible targets, he makes as much sense as anyone because he's the best at this position, and still relatively young compared to what you're used to seeing on the market.

Agreed, he's one of the most dominant interior defensive linemen the league has seen in a long time, he would instantly make everyone on that Jaguar D line better.
