Quote:Where is the section to screen out the garbage time plays?

The story of QBs since Mark Brunell in Jacksonville, people will look at the stats and say see ____ (Byron, David, Blaine, Chad, etc) arent that bad because compared to these guys ....

The problem is having 17 points against a tough Seattle Defense wouldve been a great feat by Chad Henne had it happened in the 1st half without the scoreboard & game being so one sided.  They knew that even if the Jaguars had somehow put up 35 points they would still have 90 in that case...

They put in their backup QB at the half & had already won... those 17 points were out of respect for the former Seattle coaches (knowing that they had the game won already)...

The Jaguars Offense is still worse than the Defense & they are both still 32ranked (at least should be)
I agree... Gabbert gives us the best chance at getting a new QB next year.

Sick

Quote:At least now we have Gabbert back so we can stay winless and keep going for that number 1 pick.  I would rather play Gabbs than sign Tebow and win just enough games to put us out of reach for that 1st pick.
So oklahomie, nothing to back up your argument other than your eyes?

I hear lasik surgery is pretty safe and very effective.

Why would I need something else?

Are you Chad's mom? You seem to be taking it a bit personally.
Quote:I think Mularkey plays as big a role as anyone/anything in ruining Gabbert.

The whole protect the ball act was ridiculous. Why would you intentionally produce a game manager?

You can add Jack to that list too. He was a desperate coach who knew he was going to be fired if/when he was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. He threw Gabbert in there out of desperation without the benefit of offseason workouts or training camp because of the labor strife.

Oh the irony...

Yes... It seems to have gone right over your head.

You're a trip. I guess if everyone agreed the world wouldn't be any fun. Glad we got you on this board to keep everything light and fun.
Quote:Lol no, our line is terrible but we get blitzed more than any team in the NFL because everyone knows our QBs can't pass the ball more than 5 yards.

^This

I've been waiting for someone to say this. No team has to fear anything going past 10 yards ever so why not just stack 9 in the box and play the run on the way to rushing the qb. The line looks horrible because the defenses we play pin their ears back the entire game. Just like a few years ago, until we can prove we can throw the ball consistently down the field we are going to continue to look this bad. Ever since the iggles game a few years back every team has played up like this. The run looks terrible because there is no threat of a passing game. The line looks terrible because the other team will just rush with no threat of getting beat over the top.

I will root for Blaine to get better and hopefully elevate this franchise but it's painfully obvious that he mostly likely wont. I cant understand how EJ Manuel and Geno Smith, rookies; look better than our third year qb. But either way it's a win to me. If Blaine doesn't produce he'll lead us to the next qb and if he does produce then we have a qb for the future. Simple as that.
We haven't been able to throw the deep pass because our coaches know the protection isn't capable of allowing the play time to develop. Even on 5 step drops, the pass protection has failed. Consequently our passing game is limited to short and quick slants and out patterns.

Lol, more irony, keep it coming...
I guess the point I'm making is that we aren't even completing those slants and out patterns very good either so there is no threat of a passing game at all. Everything is being played on the line of scrimmage to me that's why our line looks so bad. I'm able to count to 3 once the ball is snapped but yet the ball never gets delivered. They did the same thing to David and they'll do the same thing to Blaine and Chad and whoever else comes until they can prove other wise.

I wont lie and say our line is a top unit but it isn't ranked 32 second like most of the fans seem to think. Our line is decent.

The game is won and lost 90% of the time in the trenches but I'm seeing the 10% being our biggest concern. It used to be the lines fault, then the wideouts fault and now the line again. But the qbs seems to be exempt from blame. Our quarter backs are not throwing with a timer in there head. They have no pocket presence to extend plays.

I watch EJ Manuel play for example and after 3 seconds he automatically starts moving if he hasn't thrown the ball because he knows a defender should be on top of him at that moment. These are basic mechanics we lack. I see our players attempt this and run into a sack or never move around the pocket to buy time or simply not throw the ball quick enough

Did you really say that?

I have never, ever, seen someone rush to a player's defense like you do with Gabbert.

I hope, for your sake, this is all satire.
Quote:Don't worry, he'll dismiss this as well.

That 0.6 on Air Yards per attempt cant be ignored. That and 82% of his yards being YAC . No way that can be overlooked.

On a side note Terrell Pryor actually has been moving the ball. Despite having the 4th least attempts in the NFL he is 3rd in Air Yards per attempt behind only P.Manning and Russel Wilson and has the lowest YAC percentage of ANY Qb in the NFL so its not just catch and run in either stats case. He may not throw alot but he is willing to go deep when given the chance. And yes while he is 27th in pass yards 5 of the 6 Qbs behind him have more attempts including our own Henne.

Chief just stop it. Our passing game is more limited by the QB then by the O-line. Is has been shown that even with time Gabby breaks down. Etdavis has a great post.

Gabbert had these same problems at Mizzou and nothings changed since then. Until we have a QB that poses a legit threat to go downfield the defenses wont back off. It wont matter how strong the line is they can only block so many at a time and teams arent rushing 3 and 4 every down as some like to make it seem. They are Blitzing and sending at least 5 and sometimes 6 or 7 people play after play without fear of being burned deep.

Funny thing to think about is Leftwich.Slow as dirt with bad footwork. He couldnt move an inch in the pocket yet somehow he wasnt mauled and our o-line wasnt exactly great in pass protect back then either. Why? Because defenses knew he would put the ball over the top and make them pay.

We must have had some sort of convergence of parallel universes if in the one you came from Leftwich wasn't getting beaten like a tackling dummy on every play.

You really need to work on your people skills. They are worse than Gabbert playing QB.

Smile
As much as Tebow sucks he at least showed the steelers you cant just heavy blitz play after play and expect good things to happen. They pretty much tried to do what teams are doing to gabbert now expecting him to shrink and start throwing a ton of short passes.

That said i want him no where near this team.

Not according to David Garrard who said on the radio the downfield plays don't have time to develop.

I think I respect his opinion more than yours. No offense intended of course.
