I wouldn't go so far as to say "improved".  Heck, I could improve from one season to the next, doesn't make me a possible NFL QB.  When you set the bar as low as it has been, improving does not mean much.

Yet Gabberts improvement is still below the level of Henne up to this point.  I think you don't quite understand that Gabbert set the bar so, so, so, so, so low that it wouldn't take much to be considered an improvement.

Yet Henne is the guy on the list twice for 2012 in only 6 starts.

The NFL Around the League podcast refers to subpar passing as hanging out in the Gabbert Zone (IE less than 5 yards per attempt).

I sure hope we get some better play overall soon.

Gabbert had the worst start of any QB statistically this year.  Again, we are arguing over to bad QB's.

Really? I could have sworn Kaepernick tossed about the same yardage and more INTs just a couple of weeks ago.

 

But I agree, we're having a pointless argument. Gabbert will play, and the team will likely end up with a draft pick high enough for the Jaguars to draft his replacement, then we'll see if that guy can hack it or if we're in for another half decade of "rebuilding" after that.

Yes, Kaepernick is definitely in the argument for worst game performance and for arguments sake, we will say Blaine had the 2nd worst game in the NFL this year only because he threw 1 less INT.

Ummm, what?  No one is basing Blaines one performance this year and defining him as a QB.  He has a history and his history isn't very good.  Blaine has never played anywhere near to Kaepernicks level.  I feel like I'm talking to a child.

 

Also, you went on about Chad Henne's 2 bad performances trying to make a case for Blaine, yet Blaine played worse then Henne this year.  Do you get tired of living in fantasy land?

Well as long as we're bashing Gabbert based on his lone partial game this season I don't see any reason not to bash Kaepernick on his poor games this year.

 

But, yeah, you're right. On a stacked team Kaepernick looked like a great player. I've heard some excuses for why he didn't look so good based on his team having injuries.

 

It's funny how when it's a guy that had the benefit of starting off on a stacked team it's okay to make excuses for stretches of poor play because he looked good on a stacked team from the start, but when similar excuses are made for a guy that's played on the worst roster I've ever seen it's all about how great players make everyone around them better.

Kaep has started 10 regular season games (or something close to that number) while Gabbert has started 25. I am willing to bet that if Kaep was on the Jags, he would have a better record than 5-20.

After seeing that Broncos game I do think Pryor is better than Gabbert and I thought Pryor wouldn't amount to anything. Honestly Gabbert will never be serviceable enough because he just can't stay calm in the pocket. It's weird but out of all the QBs in the league Gabbert's drop back just seems so rushed and not smooth. It's hard to explain. But I don't think he'll ever get out of his head that he may be hit at any moment.

It isn't the fact that Gabbert's played bad, it is how poorly he has played over his entire career.  I'm not bashing Gabbert.  Why is it bashing if I don't feel he is a good QB?  And again, I was comparing Gabbert to Henne since you wanted to point out Henne's two bad games, yet made no mention of Gabbert's play this year.  Be fair, impartial and non bias.  You can't seem to do that though.

 

Kaepernick has had a lot of success right out of the gate.  He has a better team, sure, but he was a huge part of their run last year.  He also made that offense better.  It played better under him then it did under Alex Smith who was a veteran.  He had a 98.3 QB rating last year, had a YPA of 8.32, completed 62.4% of his passes, ran for 414 yards averaging 6.6 yards a carry, had 15 TD's (rushing, passing combined) and 3 INT's.  Kap has had two poor performances and two good performances this year.  He threw for over 400 yards his first game (something Gabbert has never done) and did so without Michael Crabtree.  He also took his team to the Super Bowl and was a yard away from winning the whole thing doing so in his 1st year.  In comparison, how many good games has Gabbert had in 25 starts?  2 or 3?  Like I said, I feel like I'm talking to a child because most if not everyone knows the above.  It is ludicrous to put Gabbert in the same breath as Kaepernick. 

I think Gabbert needs counseling.  No, I'm not kidding.

Just as an aside, jt, your continual refrain of "I feel like I'm talking to a child" only serves to undermine your point.

 

If your point is strong enough you don't need any condescension.

 

Personally I disagree, and it's all about perception is my point.

 

Kaepernick's bad games have still come with a far and away better o-line and defense on the field to prop him up than what Gabbert has ever had to work with.
