Yeah this situation is just strange. It really does look like a deadline for the $4 million was passed on Friday. In weeks past, I even heard mention of it on SiriusXM NFL Radio so it wasn’t just Oesher. It looks like they decided to keep him on his salary believing he could get back to 2015 production levels this year, but knew it might be a hard decision to defend so are just kinda not addressing it.

Hurns will make the 53 man roster, as he's a good solid receiver. Not everyone on your roster is going to be an All-Pro. If he isn't on the 53, it would be that he got traded. Injuries will happen during a season, and the depth at WR for a contending team is a really nice thing to have.

I agree. He would definitely make the 53. His place on the depth chart may slip, but he's still one of our better WRs at this point.

This is the same guy that crawled off the field when he hurt his ankle to save a timeout, right?
It's not your money, the people in charge know what they are doing with their millions (AFC Championship game); he's a great Jag and I want him on our team.

Released according to Schefter. Strange situation.
Was the $4 million a parting gift? Lol.

Adam Schefter?

I see it on Adam's Twitter account now.
So, if there's a market for him - he may have been asking for it. I probably would, too given some of the numbers being thrown around for WRs - and most are gone.

Man, a year ago I thought the Allen bros were the fixtures with Lee out. Hurns was a tuff [BLEEP] though, wish him well.

Jaguars are releasing WR Allen Hurns, per source. Strong market expected for him @adamschefter

...and it's not your decision.
Don't take things too seriously.

Tough, yes... but you can't out-muscle or out-will concussions.
IMO, he's only a couple more away from retirement.

Feel like receivers are getting way more than they are worth on the free market right now.... this is a good thing for him.

So would everyone agree we got worse at the WR position so far this offseason?
03-20-2018, 10:34 AM
Not a surprise after the Lee and Moncrief signing, and with Cole and Westbrook playing well.
I did think they would have either made the move sooner, or kept him for a while and cut him after training camp. I guess they needed the cap room now.

If this is true regarding Hurns release, then absolutely. Do you have a source/link? Edit: Nevermind. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...len-hurns/
If Hurns was going to be released all along, why not allocate some of his salary to keeping Robinson?
Was that Friday deadline a real thing or not? If so, why not cut him before the deadline? Was that a parting gift to Hurns?

Common sense says...
If your fifth WR on the depth chart has a market in free agency - then your top four are pretty darn good.
