This would only make sense if he didn't make the change and Coughlin made the permanent switch after only 3 games.

Revisionist history at it's finest.

History is history. Brunell was better Day 1.

Minshew gave the team, fans, and the entire league some spark. Even when games were lost the Jags we competitive in the games. Then you bench the spark and the excitement for Foles. (which is most cases is porbably the correct move) Which resulted in getting crushed. We now know Foles is not the answer. The front office deserves to get a lot of heat for over paying Foles.

In fairness, Foles shouldn't have played at all this year. Next year he will get a shot at redemption, but I'd rather GM15 outplay him. I believe he is the answer to the our QB curse.
He isn’t gone yet?
Oesher having a real tantrum today.

In the second half, the Bucs have a third-and-4 near midfield. The Jags are in a zone defense with cornerbacks 12 yards off the line of scrimmage. Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston completes an uncontested six-yard pass to wide receiver Chris Godwin for the first down. Even Mark Schlereth, the FOX TV analyst, asks "What are they thinking there?" But it's not the coaches right, John?

Wow, if Mark Schlereth said it, considering his in-depth knowledge of the Jaguars’ defensive personnel and considering his knowledge of how well the cornerbacks cover in man coverage … well, by golly, I take back everything I ever said.

[font=NotoSerif]According to you Wash is good defensive coordinator, I believe he was decent when the defense was stacked with talent across every position. I'm sorry but with that talent even probably you will be considered great DC. Second what will be the excuse this week, let me guess Jack was out and that crippled the defense LOL

I do believe Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash is a good coordinator. Many Jaguars fans disagree. That’s OK. I’ve been right while in the minority before. One more trip around that merry go-round won’t be that difficult.

[font=NotoSerif][font=NotoSerif]Do you think not having a O-Zone on Monday’s for the rest of the season might be wise?

No way. Too many people dislike me. I wouldn’t want to lose the pleasure of knowing what it does to their day to read this drivel.

Oesher has no idea about football.. he's laughably stoooopid.

His failue to accept the fact that over the last three years, including the 2017 campaign where they played powderpuff QB's. . . There's ALWAYS been rumblings from the players about Wash's playcalling and approach to the game.

Most of us with eyes yesterday went OFF in the gameday thread on that play in question. It was 3rd and [BLEEP] 4 and they played soft zone coverage.

Why? You have a top ten pass rushing defense at the moment and Tampa Bay is one of, if not, THE NFL leading team in sacks allowed or QB hits and pressure.

Yeah guys. Let's NOT blitz there and play man to man at the L.O.S. Let's NOT take advantage of Campbell, Allen & Ngakoue's strengths there.

Exactly. I've seen it so many times. 3rd and short and were sitting 7 yards off. It makes zero sense.

And like you say, taking away what strengths the D do have.
Oehser knows who signs his checks. I think it's as simple as that.

I don't know that that's the case. I think it's more that he's as tired as anyone else of all the losing, only he gets it x1,000 because his inbox is the first place lots of fans go to express their discontent.

But doubling down on Wash... ugh... bad idea.

In fairness, Oehser is around these guys day in and day out. We only ever hear from them during post-game pressers, where Wash is trying again to explain why his defense sucks. For all we know, the guy has a great football mind and a deep understanding of the X's and O's, but for whatever reason doesn't call a good game or doesn't get the max out of his players. Lots of guys fall into this category, imo someone like Norv Turner being the poster child for a brilliant offensive mind that can't call a game to save his life.

But, yeah, Wash is a terrible coordinator.

Based on what evidence at the time? His 12 of 27 95 yards stats in Green Bay?

Unfortunately Coughlin lacked your amazing powers, Captain Hindsight.

Also, 3 games doesn't show a reluctance to pull the highest paid player on the roster.

The simple eye test was enough. Beer-line was a statue, Brunell was an athlete better suited to the lack of skill on the rest of the squad. It's ok bud, I know you have your feels engaged in this mess.

That's why he has to follow Bologna Marogna out the door!

Still on khan watch ....
All the Oesher hate is laughable...

Not that I think he is great or anything... Vic was the man... but people hated on him for being an old cranky fart and not agreeing with all their takes.

But what's funny is how mad people get that a Jaguars.com writer doesn't dog the team out with them. And then he basically condescends every little twit that writes in to him and whines like they should be running the team from the comments section.
It's comedy at its best (or worst) every time I read Ozone.

Keep writing in Red, jerell, and the rest of you guys. It gives me a good chuckle, especially on Mondays when a laugh is most needed.

Not that I don't laugh plenty on Sundays. (Cuz these Jags ain't worth the tears anymore)
Apathy is great. And probably healthier than what a lot of these kids (God, I hope they are children) writing in to John have.

There was no eye test until Coughlin played him genius.
For all anyone knew at the time he could have been an inaccurate turnover machine.
It's immaterial to your initial point because Coughlin had no problem making the change just like he wouldn't have a problem benching Foles.

Buerlein had been in the NFL for 5+ years at that point. He was not an unknown quantity.

No, no, he had many other qualities besides his experience like...ummm...uh...perhaps, no...

Well, something I'm sure.
