Quote: The latest rumor comes from Pro Football Network’s NFL insider Tony Pauline. In his latest mailbag, Pauline stated he has heard rumors regarding the Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks, with the Seahawks being the team pursuing Ngakoue.

“I’ve been told by a very good source that the Seahawks would like to acquire Yannick Ngakoue via trade,” Pauline said. “My sources tell me they believe compensation would include something like a second-round selection and possibly a situation where the Seahawks swap their pick in round one for the Jags pick in the second round.”

In this scenario the Jaguars would acquire one of the Seahawks’ second-round picks, either 59th or 64th overall, and the Jaguars would trade their second-round pick, 42nd overall, for the Seahawks’ first-round pick, 27th overall. This would give the Jaguars 11 total picks in the draft, including three in the first round.

That's a great deal.  We have to take that if that offer is on the table.
Three 1st rounders? That's a whole 'nother conversation

I’m tired as heck, am I reading this right? We would have 3 1sts(9,20,27) and retain 2 2nd rounders via Rams and Seattle? That would be a nice little haul for yan.

No we'd have 3 firsts and one 2nd rounder

I would 100% take this deal and not look back.

Pretty good deal if we have to trade him

LOL, I proposed a similar idea a while back of trading Yan for Seattle's two 2nd rounders and people laughed at it.  This trade is pretty similar in value.

It makes sense for both parties.  Yan wants to get out of this dumpster fire of an organization and if we get three 1st rounders, we can at least admit we're in full rebuild mode and headed for two top 10 selections in the 2021 draft.

I would say not full rebuilt because we are set at some of the most important positions.  QB, pass rusher, RT, and number 1 WR.  Could easily lock down 2 more important positions like LT and 3 more with our 1sts and 2nd

If we can make this trade in think we are in much better position than Oak was last year. We should be able to add 4 immediate starters with 3 1sts and a 2nd. On top of that if we can add a starter or 2 through FA I think we will be in much better shape than people think.
If this came to fruition, this would be GREAT compensation for the disgruntled.

Time Will Tell.

NH3...

We could also easily fail at doing so, especially with Caldwell making the picks and Marrone coahing the rookies.
Even if we have a great draft I doubt this team wins more than 8 games. We still have Wash so our defense is gonna suck for sure.
(03-04-2020, 09:45 PM)knarnn Wrote: [ -> ]Heard on 1010 John Oesher believed the jags will tag and keep him. After further thought I think this is the best move. We can’t keep setting a precedent that players can just force their way out.

Also if I’m not mistaken, I think I read something in the new CBA that will vastly restrict players ability to hold out. Something along the lines of that they have to report to training camp within 5 days in order to receive an accrued season and mandatory fines if they hold out that can’t be waived by the team.

Holding out is old-school. As Ramsey showed, all you have to do is fake an injury and you get the same impact without having to give up pay and the team gets the message. I don't know how you get around that.

Lol

The Jags aren't even close to being set at any position other than Josh Allen. Minshew still has a lot to prove, Jawaan Taylor needs to take a big step and as much as I like Chark, his play faltered towards the end. Having potential doesn't mean you're set.

Problem is you have the same Short Order Cooks working with these ingredients.  Make believe the FO wins the off season and naturally talented people make it to the team.  Now what?  Same bad game plans, same lack of preparation and same lame duck status.

It is so painful to be in this place with this team. Fortunately life is more than football.

I disagree with Chark 'faltering'.  He was injured the last three or four games.  There was even talk of him going on IR.

Don't get me wrong. I love Chark but he had 1 100 yard game in the last 10. He had 3 total on the season. Now this can also be attributed to bad to average QB play but my point is that he isn't "set." Outside of Josh Allen and nickel corner Hayden, I'm not sure the Jags are looking good anywhere. This is a bottom 3 roster in the league.

Because he's not a future building block on this team. He may not even be on the roster for this upcoming season.

100% agree. This team was so bad that it limited the amount of pass rushing opportunities he had.

Yannick today announced his dream destination is "wherever Jameis ends up"

30 picks is a crapload of opportunities, right Yan?

Jeez

Going back even to Jimmy and Blackmon, we have trouble keeping guys focused.

I mean who was the last player who played a career with the Jags? That loved the team and City? There was Poz but i cant think of the last guy we drafted who was here for a career, and was a talent. We had Mercedes and while we all love him, was he ever elite or top 5 TE? Other than that.....

You think Mahomes is looking elsewhere?

"career" in the most loose of terms, but I would argue Jimmy, Fred, MJD, Big John, Garrard and Rashean are all names that would fit the criteria.

Poz signed as an FA from Buff, so I'd be very skeptical to count him in the mix.
