I read this as his people have tried to get him to see it he doesn't have the position to get a top deal immediately. He needs to needs to understand the rules of the CBA, he can't just do what he wants. He believes he is worth top money and will not accept anything else, even if he doesn't get paid at all.

It is not a smart decision, sure the rules may not be fair for top talent, but the rules are there and agreed to by the NFLPA.

More so "organization trying to make the situation look less bad"

And you can do whatever your leverage let's you. In Yannick case, for example, he's getting a huge contract no matter what team he's on but may be able to get to a team of his liking too
A team broke the bank for an out of shape LeVeon Bell who plays a non premium position after he sat out a year. Yan won’t have to wait long for a team to pay him what he wants.

Frank Clark and Dee Ford commanded that from the market. And as cited earlier. Ngakoue's still 24 years old and has no history of injuries significantly hindering him, etc.

I would rather we get a package of 2021 picks. Just to make sure no one in the current front office mucks things up, you know?
We ran off another one boys! Get'em outta here!!

Cant wait until Minshew turns it on this year and we can hopefully run that bum outta Jacksonville also. Good teams collect bad players and run off any good players, thats why there is no more space in the jacksonville superbowl trophy case.
No one will ever play here unless its a rookie contract or they are extremely overpaid(or jsut average to below average player). Any player that comes here to sign has one question in mind: "Can I get enough money to offset playing for Jacksonville?"

FO - "Hey, our best players are very vocal about how crap we run things on the field and off, and out track record proves them right. Better keep doing exactly what we were before!
If they can tag and trade for a 1st or 2nd round pick, that's pretty good value for a 3rd round pick who gave you 38 sacks on a cheap contract.

That's why they hired Trent Baalke to be the Director of Player Personnel. So they can move on from Dave Caldwell and Doug Marrone at the end of the year. Then he can hire a new head coach, clash with him and then replace him with a coordinator last minute like he did Harbaugh / Tomsula with the 49ERS.

Khan's nearly completed his destruction of this team in Jacksonville. He's a mad genius. It'll be at least another two or three years before the NFL feels comfortable enough with moving a team to London on a full time basis. Baalke will be the finishing blow to spiral the fanbase out of Jacksonville.
Austen Lane on 690 says that money is not the issue with Yan. What I want to know is with Coughlin gone, who or what, is causing all of this toxicity in the organization?

I interpreted this as the offer on the table really is a good offer with some type of future option (big picture - chance to strike again in his prime) and to not worry about pass transgressions made by the team against Yannick. The source possibly being his recently fired agent.

Need to just take the best deal possible.  I'm expecting a 1st And 2nd like the Chiefs gave up for Frank Clark, though I wonder if Yan stating this publicly might hurt the trade value.

Extra cap room and more high draft picks.  This might end up being a blessing for the Jags, who knows...

I usually don't wish ill on people, but giving an entire franchise and fanbase a public double-bird is one of those things I refuse to tolerate. May you never, ever win anything worthwhile. I hope the franchise you sign with remains inept for the duration of your contract, and you spend every day regretting the choice to leave.

May the pastures you imagine to be greener turn out to be covered in manure.
Or.... Maybe you should place blame on the organization?

It was ARobs fault. It was Ramseys fault. It's Yans fault.....

If you were a player, give me a reason as to why you would want to play for the Jags if you were about to hit the open market? You're also taking this personally. Like he is flipping YOU the double bird. It's a business.

You can't say "I love this town" and "I refuse to entertain offers" in the same breath. Yes, it's a business, but unless the jags have come out and said they are not going to offer you a competitive contract, why do you open with this statement?

It's a business, like you said. He may have just killed any chance he had to get a good deal from us, and now teams know they have one less team to outbid. Stupid on his part. Even if it's blowing smoke up the front office's behind, he's going to have a lot of bad blood to offset. Heck, I venture that a big part of the reason we kept dead weight like Wash was his relationship with guys like Yan. Remember the big hug they shared in the Raiders game?

Yan is dead to me. I hope we franchise him, and I hope he refuses to sign. Let him sit at home and fester.

EDIT: my primary gripe is the hypocrisy in his statement. If he said "I'm sick of low-ball or short-term offers and the team isn't willing to budge, so I'm out", I understand completely. But to open with "I am not negotiating with this team, but I love everything about it here" is horse pucky.

Probably a valid concern a lot of people are ignoring.

Would rather see a player plainly state that then. To clear the air. Because it is kind of funny that he gives our city and fans a major shout out and says he loves us all and then in the same breath echoes that he wants out of here.

He wouldn't plainly state that because he doesn't have to. There are so many other things he could blame or just let everyone assume as the reason he is leaving. This entire organization is a dumpster fire from top to bottom and needs a major culture change. You gotta fire everyone and start fresh. It is the only way.

It's not about the city. Not directly anyway.
It's not about the fans. (except the fact there will likely be more of them at his next destination)
Playing two games overseas for the foreseeable future is an element for sure.  But not THE element.

PRIMARILY, it's about wanting out of a dysfunctional organization that is on the cusp of another staffing re-boot in 2021 wherein there's no telling who he'll play under and in what scheme.

Allen Robinson cited playing under 3 coordinators in his time here as a major factor in his decision to move elsewhere, and the F.O. fluctuation along with the very real possibility of a lame duck staff in 2020 must be affecting Yannick similarly. Why not try to land in a more stable environment with potentially a greater fanbase and poularity to parlay into endorsement money?

I agree. 110%. Never made since to pin the blame all on Coughlin. Especially when you consider that he was brought in here essentially because Caldwell couldn't get it done on his own. You can't cut one head off a three headed monster and expect it to be resolved. It's still a monster.

Marrone and Caldwell should have been shown the door along with Coughlin at the end of last year. For better or worse. This team needed a culture shock and a fresh start. Now they've just forced this old stale bread and bologna sandwich onto the players and fan base.

Bothersome. And it truly feels deliberate. It feels like the fans are being alienated and then we're getting these messages through the press and public from Khan imploring us to buy into the same old B.S again. It's aggravating. Especially when you take a 2nd home game away and there's a funny clause in the new CBA about a team playing a 3rd game across the pond.
I mean, can you blame him? This is far and away the worst franchise in sports and it's a complete laughing stock... Nobody wants to play here and it's not going to get any better, any time soon.

This front office is on a 1 year, win now lease basically. You aren't going to find somebody in this year's draft to replace Ngakoue/the production he'd bring this year. All you're doing is giving them one last shot at wasting more draft picks before they walk out the door.

Move the team to London already and put us all out of our misery.
