What does Doug need to do? Throw the whole playbook at Trevor and make him the vocal point of the offense, 2nd half against the Phins was ridiculous to see how we completetly went away from the pass. That was a horrible coached game. The only true superstars on that coaching staff was Nielsen. Doug and the O needs to get their [BLEEP] together.
We ended the first half 17-7. And then in the 3rd Quarter we were doing great, about to go up 24-7. The ETN fumble killed the entire motivation/vibe/momentum/whatever-you-want-to-call-it/heart of the entire team. The entire team collapsed after that fumble.
You gotta think that a HC worth his salt could have said or done something to the team to re-focus them. Instead, the offense completely went George Costanza in a pool and started running frieghtened turtle plays. And by the time the Defense woke back up, they had given up the back breaking TD.
Doug's seat isn't hot, it's only 1 game. But we have to expect better from what is a SB winning HC that somehow got limp Nick to win a ring. We need that type of HC back. One that makes everyone believe we can win under any circumstance. We haven't seen that type of coaching from Pederson since 2022.

I'm not sure I buy the bolded statement. These players are professional and are very confident in their skills to let one bad play get in a way of playing hard. I think it was more of the coaching failing to call the right plays after ETN fumble.
No deep shots, no rollouts, and brain dead play calling.

It was both.

Well find the frequency for Dougs headset one of these days!!
This staff is headed for thin ice. Finding ways to lose has a way of becoming a mantra.

You have some of the best observations and comments of anyone on this board.

So finding a way to win 18 games the last two years is "thin ice" when you count an extra year that Pederson wasn't here.
Logical.

The 4 years prior to Doug coming here the record was 15-50...
Doug's record in 2 years and 1 game. 18-17... With a playoff win. And that's after taking over a team that won 4 games (with back to back 1st overall picks) in 2 full seasons.
But yea, he's on thin ice LOLOLOLOL. Some of the dumbest [BLEEP] I've ever seen.

Doug built a team, great job.
Do you remember those Titans teams that always finished around the same records. Coaches can have ceilings and we hope this isn't the ceiling. The floor isn't low but the ceiling is definitely low if that's it.
So it becomes a debate on if you make a change in the hope you raise the ceiling or do you settle like the Titans did.

Are you talking about the Jeff Fisher coached teams? If so, he got 16 1/2 years as the HC there... Not 2.
And that's a question that can be possibly asked in at minimum another 2-3 years... Not even close to now.

I agree with this for the most part. I like to look at in terms of the lifecycle of NFL regimes. Once the team has their franchise QB (which is the biggest hurdle) then the clock starts on the current regime: Rebuild/compete/playoffs/deep in the playoffs, while hoping to reach the big game... Now that process can be quick or long, and it's up to the owner at the end of the day to make sure he feels like it's going in the right direction, if not you go back to the beginning. (It's gray, but that's the general gist.)

I like him, but I am just going off the no coach has won a super bowl with two different teams in the history of the NFL. Yeah it could happen. The offense better stay aggressive this week.

We're not [BLEEP] going 7-9, or 8-8, or 9-7, OK?

No. I was implying that 2023's season was indicative of what we saw against Miami. A strong start and then a total collapse... But it's all good. I could have made that more clear.

"We haven't seen that kind of coaching from Pederson since 2022." He coached just fine last year until the team got exposed as weak in the middle and Trevor and Kirk got hurt.
It’s early but it has to be getting a little warmer.
