Why should he, they had to hire a real head coach to be his "assistant" on offense.

Yep, I think the expectations are set and the talent is there now.  8-8 has to be the minimum required expectation (barring something highly unusual as you mention).  If  he goes 6-10 or 7-9, I think you have to evaluate the situation but obviously that won't be good news for him or his staff. 

8 at the minimum. I was looking at a 5 or 6 win season for us before the draft tbh. But with what happened in the draft I don't see any excuse for Gus not to win AT LEAST 8 games and even that would be underachieving. This team is stacked on paper.

Less than 9-10 is underachieving in my opinion. Along with a division title.


This roster is the most talented in the division.

I get the idea of the topic for discussion post draft, but guys guys GUUYSSS!! And gals. When will we cease the beating of the poor dead horse? Let the horse rest in peace!

I expect playoffsome this year.

I do agree an 8-win season should be the low expectation. That's a progression from last year's reasonable expectations (not results) of 6-8 wins. The roster is clearly maturing and improving, then add in the free agents that are expected to be difference-makers and the unanimously high-rated draft that should provide a minimum of 1 immediate starter and 2-3 contributors (minimum on both, folks).

 

8-10 wins, depending on how everything plays out, but anything less than 8 and I'll be beyond disappointed.

I personally agree 100%. And I have no doubts they'll get it done. Because this is a potentially talented and dangerous team. And like I've said for years, this was a total rebuild done masterfully by the FO and coaching staff.


I knew there were gonna be bumps in the road, not just from a roster standpoint, but also from a coaching standpoint as well because while we had a lot of rookies that were players we also had some coaches that were rookies in their own right.


But I knew that this could potentially be something special between the front office and the coaching staff, just by looking back at the first draft. We were attempting to shore up a few spots to set a firm foundation, well we didn't get all of the hits that we wanted, but it was a good start and a good sense of what kind of direction you were going to see this franchise was going.


To me it seemed like the plan of attack was to first try to build the offense, then turn around and build the defense heavily through free agency and in the draft. They did this smartly. At the end of last season, I said that this season needs to show me legit progress or I wI'll happily be a member of the fire Gus bandwagon. And that's a fair expectation, that shows patience for the franchise.

As of right now aside from Ryan Davis our edge rush group hasn't played a snap in the league and we have a serious question about LT. not to mention that were taking our best interior lineman and changing positions...


It looks like a great draft. A++++++ lets also be realistic.

I'm tempering my expectations.  We got some studs, those guys will probably not play like studs for a portion of the season.  We will be a far superior team end of the year compared to the start.  Hopefully getting into the playoffs.

I wonder how many threads like this we will see before the season starts?

The only weakness I see is the offensive line, and thats only because it has so many question marks. I feel the defense has enough depth and talent to be top 16 now. Not only should we see an 8 win season, but we should finally see a competent defense out there... which is supposed to be Gus' bread and butter.

I think we're gonna be surprisingly good on the line with the FA additions. If it holds true that Linder slides to center, then you can plug Shatley on the RG spot. Let the 2 LTS battle it out over there. Or put Bowanko in center and keep the guards where they are at.

Let's see if everybody can stay healthy before making huge expectations.
