Quote:Well Gus can go 0-16 as long as the losses aren't blowouts. We just need to trust the process. Compete and get better. 10 years from now we still won't have a winning record but we will know the process is working when the Jay-gwires demonstrate their spirit every Sunday.
Yeah thats how some think... The blinded that is...
Quote:What a crock of [BAD WORD REMOVED], FBT. "Alot has to happen to reach .500."
Wow, dude. We have a franchise QB and a ton of weapons on offense. Added a bunch of talent on defense, have a top 5 pick, not to mention getting our #3 pick from last year back in the fold. This team is loaded with talent. I understand trying to manage expectations, but my goodness if this isn't the year this team makes the leap then when?
It's laughable how you almost verbatim regurgitate the talking points of our loser coach.
"As long as we don't get blown out.." (compete)
"As long as the team shows improvement..." (get better)
This is loser talk! At what point is the head coach held accountable for not leading a talented roster to WINS? 3 years from now if Gus is still coach and is still losing 10 games a year does he still get a pass? As long as the team competes and gets better right?
What a joke.
This team hasn't even caught a whiff of .500 in several years. A lot DOES need to happen to get there, but unlike you, I tend to believe that they will get there, and that by doing so, it will put them in the mix for the playoffs this year. Still, that doesn't mean it's an absolute lock that everything is going to fall into place as we hope.
It's not laughable. It's realistic. Something you clearly have lost touch with. It's not loser talk. I'm very optimistic about where the team is headed. Loser talk is constantly whining and complaining about the team. You know, your forte.
What a joke.
Quote:Isnt it only fair to put the car before the horse after four years? How long and how much improvement this team has to make before u admit that it is the coach thats holding this team back?
We have the talent.. That excuse is over.. He have more coaches and advisors and coordinators, that excuse is over.. This team should win now and have too. Or its on the coach and the Gm!
Do i like Gus? Yes as a person.. But as a coach he needs to improve and improve fast...Or he has to go.. And forget 0-4 if he goes 0-6 hes GONE!
So while u think we are a long shot, I dont think soo, maybe with Gus coaching.. But this team talent wise
Is ready.. And so are the fans!
No, it's not "fair to put the CART before the horse" after four years, primarily because it hasn't been 4 years. As the team is currently configured, we have the main components in place for 2 seasons going on year 3 on the offense. Year one of the Bradley era was not about rebuilding. it was about dismantling. Year 2 was the first step in the real rebuilding of the roster, and they opted to go with a model that focused on building through the draft and supplementing in free agency. That continued into year 3 where the investments increased in the free agency market, but only slightly. Year 4 (year 3 of the actual rebuild) sees the team stepping up their free agency efforts while completing the process through the draft.
Yes, this team has the talent. There has been significant improvement on the offensive side of the ball with both personnel and coaching. That focus shifted to the defense this year. They've brought in upgrades on the defense via free agency, they're getting back the guy who is supposed to significantly improve the pass rush in Fowler, and they're going to add more talent in the draft and late free agency as we move forward. Again, I think you whiners struggle to comprehend anything that advocates the process, but the reality is that everyone in that front office from the owner to the water boy understood going into this how difficult it was going to be using this approach to rebuilding the roster. They also recognized that it would take a few years for this approach to start to reap rewards, but that once the team did turn the corner, the method would allow for a sustainable level of success. This is the year where everything has to come together, and I tend to think that it will. That doesn't mean that there won't be bumps along the way this season. You're still going to be putting a lot of expectations on young players to help bolster the defense. There IS a learning curve coming into the NFL. There WILL be growing pains. The hope is that we've got enough experienced depth on the roster now to smooth out that learning curve and to allow the young players coming in this year to be productive right out of the box.
The funny thing is that through your trail of tears, you actually agree with me. You're just not bright enough to recognize it. I expect the team to do well this year. Better than you probably do. But, my reason for thinking this way has as much to do with who the head coach is as it does on the improved talent we've seen added to the roster over the past 3 years. You're saying you expect the team to be in the playoffs, but your rhetoric everywhere on this board contradicts that statement. You don't even realize you're a walking contradiction.
People in here said the same thing about Mularkey "he needs time" "he doesn't have talent to work with" blah blah blah. MM had a worse Jags team than Bradley btw.
Bradley sucks, period. I have no doubt in my mind that this team will suck/gonna be mediocre as long as he is the HC.
It's not just about talent, it's also about who is coaching/leading the team.

Lol you got me with the trail of tears one... Saddenly im not sad. Its too late for that.. We are 4 years in.. Ok first you say the team is a long shot to make the playoffs.. Now you say you expect them to do well.. But im contradictive... Which one is it FBT? I expect the team at the very least to go 8-8.. I never said playoffs but i hope thats where we end up..
Why wont u put any blame on Gus?
Im very curious,do you think he is a good coach?
I know all about Caldwells 4 year rebuild plan you could have saved me that... Nobody told illhim to gut the team.. We had quality starters in Daryl Smith, Terrance Knighton, MJD, Eugene Monroe... That was his plan... Lets not forget his very first statement in saying we will not get Tebow. Still waiting for Caldwells gamble to pay out tho..
So while we may agree.. We totally disagree on many other issues... And i dont have to insult you to get my point across..I could tho .. Lol
Go jags...

Lets not get carried away, the team was a mess when Caldwell started and it looks great today. A good coach has last year's squad at .500, this year's team should overcome Sprinkles to reach that mark.
And please dont mention Tebow again, it discredits the rest of your observations.

Lol a good coach... Why discredit Tebow? We havent discredited Chad Henne yet! Or Gus.. The team was a mess back then i agree.. But if we were a mess bk then and went 4-12 what are we now?

Ahh... the real reason for all of the tears finally comes to light.

No tears my friend.. Lol... Its too late for that...

Yet you're still whining about not bringing in a mediocre NFL QB.

Knighton didn't want to be here. He chose Denver to follow Del Rio. Monroe was at best a serviceable tackle, and another player who had no intention of re-signing here because he would have had to take a lesser contract to move to the right side of the line. The only real mistake was Smith, but even there they didn't think he'd be a good fit, so moving on made sense.
He gutted the team that was built by Shack Harris because the general impression was the roster just wasn't very good. Blowing it up was the best way to get past that and move in a different direction. Again, you and other whiners here moaned and complained about THAT roster, yet you act like gutting it was a bad move. Make up your mind on which side of the fence you'll be watering the grounds with your tears.
You're the one whining like a jilted school girl when I suggest we should pump the brakes on guaranteeing the playoffs, yet you're basically agreeing with me. I've been clear about my expectations, and how I expect the team to be better than the whiner class on this board thinks the will be.
Is Bradley a good coach? I think so. He's definitely highly regarded around the league. He needed some seasoning as a head coach, and he's built a staff that gives him a lot of experience in helping him become a good head coach. We will see soon enough it he's learned from past mistakes that most first time head coaches make. Considering the admission he's made in his own deficiencies, and the effort he's made to address them is a sign that he's grown into the role.

Noted. Hope you like the taste of black bird pudding.

Whose whining FBT, im laughing... This is comedy to me... You seem a lil tense tho. Everything good? Lol.

Shack Harris? So you can't even bring yourself to say Gene Smith? I know he was your hero and let you down but dang. It's ok FBT, he can't hurt us anymore...
Today I learned that it takes a full season to dismantle an nfl roster. A team can't begin to rebuild until an entire season is used to dismantle... a rebuild is actually 4 years, but suckers that don't know about the 1 year dismantle are left for us "in the know" to laugh at and mock when they begin to cry in the third year-- because that is only the second year of the rebuild.
Bunch of chumps. Uh oh, I don't think I was supposed to disclose this to you peasants... oops
Moral of the story: don't set expectations for your team I guess......
I think that part of the problem is the "instant gratification" society that we have become as well as the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality taught these days. People are not patient and don't watch the process proceed and show improved results over time.
Note the "we have the personnel now" type of thought. It's expected by some that it should immediately produce a winning team and/or playoff contention. However, there are many variables to the equation, and quite frankly, no team goes from a complete gutting of a roster to the playoffs in just a couple of seasons.
Another factor to keep in mind is not only how other teams in our division make improvements, but also the general improvements over the entire NFL.
If one can't see the obvious improvement over time (the last 3 seasons) then they probably are part of the "instant gratification/everyone gets a trophy" crowd. It looks to me like the Front Office of the organization is building towards the future over a period of time. What that timeline is... well that's not for me or any fan to decide. That's for the one that really has an investment in this team to decide (Mr. Kahn).
Ultimately my guess is the team needs to finish above .500 for Gus Bradley to retain his position. I do think that it will happen, and .500 or better is still an improvement.
