Poe, imo would be a waste. More defense.
Quote:So Jackson Campbell and Poe?!

Good lord.
I gotta think he doesn't make it out of Indy though. They have a lot of cap room, have had a disappointing FA after losing out on Alshon and several corners, he'd feel a big need, and Ballard would have to want a familiar piece of KC to follow him to his new franchise.

Would make more sense for him to go elsewhere as it'll seem crowded with him, Campbell, Jackson, Jones. Difficult to get snaps
Jaguars sign CB A.J. Bouye (5 years, $67.5 million): C+ Grade

A.J. Bouye had played the Jaguars twice per year with the Texans. He saw first hand how bad they are. He knows what he's getting into, so he doesn't care about winning. He's chasing money and going to a horrible franchise, and moves like that seldom work.

Bouye played extremely well for the Texans last season, but he's a 1-year wonder. I thought it'd be risky to give Bouye such a big contract, but the Jaguars apparently don't care, as they're once again spending money with reckless abandon.

As with the Calais Campbell grade, I'm not going to give the Jaguars a horrible mark because of the potential. But I think a C+ is warranted. They're risking that A) Bouye won't regress from his one great year, and B) Bouye will remain motivated. As we saw last year, it's difficult for a team to try hard for all 16 games when Blake Bortles is the quarterback.

 Jaguars sign DE/DT Calais Campbell (4 years, $60M; $30M guaranteed): C Grade

Calais Campbell has been a great player. There's no doubt about that. He's been tremendous in all facets of the game, clamping down on the run and generating great pressure on the quarterback. Excluding J.J. Watt, it could be argued that Campbell has been the best 3-4 defensive end in the NFL over the years.

You may have noticed that I'm not talking in present tense, and there's a reason for that. Campbell turns 31 in September, so the Jaguars are paying on past production. Campbell should still be a great player for them, at least on paper, but he won't be as dominant as he was in the past.

The other caveat is that this is yet another high-profile player the Jaguars are signing from a perennial playoff contender. This has failed in almost every instance for Jacksonville. Campbell clearly doesn't care very much about his career; otherwise, he would stay in Arizona or take less money to play for a Super Bowl contender. He's cashing out and effectively retiring to Florida. I can't exactly blame him. After all, if the Jaguars are willing to give him tons of money, why wouldn't he take it?

This doesn't deserve a Millen, or anything, but I don't like this signing for Jacksonville. Even though Campbell fills a big need, this just doesn't seem like a great fit. I imagine Jacksonville will be disappointed by this signing.

Titans sign S John Cyprien (4 years, $25 million): A Grade

Don't look now, but the Titans are a legitimate Super Bowl contender. They already had a capable quarterback, strong running game, great offensive line, and dangerous pass rush last year, but they were sorely lacking in the secondary. That is no longer the case in the wake of the John Cyprien and Logan Ryan acquisitions.

I wrote about Ryan below. I gave that a "B." I like this signing a lot more. Cyprien was 14th in my Top 100 NFL Free Agent Rankings page. He was one of the top safeties in the NFL last year, and he's only 27 (in July), so getting him for about $6 million per year seems like an incredible bargain, especially considering all of the bad contracts that have been issued this offseason.

I think this signing deserves an "A" for sure. I wouldn't have batted an eye had Cyprien obtained about $40 million over four seasons from the Titans, so $25 million over the same span is a great deal. There's no doubt that he improves Tennessee's secondary big time.

LULZ, wow this guy is an idiot

1. T.J. Lang: The guard market is disappearing, but the 29-year-old Lang has been a solid starter for six years and is coming off a Pro Bowl campaign. If he's healthy, he'll get paid.

2. Austin Pasztor: He did a decent job as Cleveland's regular right tackle last season, but somebody will probably pay the 26-year-old to move inside.

3. Tim Lelito: The 2013 undrafted free agent earned strong PFF grades as the Saints' regular left guard in 2015 before receiving less snaps in 2016. But he can play anywhere along the line and is still just 27.

4. Jermon Bushrod: The 32-year-old started all 16 games at right guard for the Dolphins in 2016, but he was graded by PFF as the second-worst qualified guard in football. He could be done.

5. D.J. Fluker: The 2013 No. 11 overall pick is trying to avoid being viewed as a bust. He's struggled each of the last four years in San Diego. Still only 25, though.

6. John Jerry: The veteran right guard has started 16 games in four of the last five years. But he's 30 and coming off a mediocre season with the Giants.

7. Chris Chester: Chester is 34 and coming off a rough year, but he hasn't missed a start since 2010.

8. Brandon Fusco: Fusco has been one of the league's worst starting guards each of the last two years, indicating the 28-year-old's strong 2013 campaign may have been a fluke.

Best of the Rest: Jahri Evans, Patrick Omameh, Andrew Garner, Mike Harris

Lol Cyp gets an A but Bouye gets a C.

Rumor has it this guy interviewed for a Jags FO position and didn't get it. So now he talks trash about us.
If I were to ride the wave now known as "Walter's Credibility", I'm pretty sure I'd wipe out. And I don't even surf (the web) Smile

Dontari Poe in high demand. Visits Colts Sun, JAX, ATL, OAK and MIA wants visits as well. If Indy doesn't come correct he'll be traveling

Y'all sleeping this has been posted for like 15 minutes. Poe would be nice on a 1 year prove it deal. Don't want him on a long term deal though with the way he's been trending down.

</div>
Jags interest in Poe is surprising.

If he;s healthy and we somehow landed him, not only would it keep him out of Indy, but the versatility  we'd have would be unreal.

We'd have a HUGE 4-3 look with:

LE Campbell

DT Jackson

NTPoe

RE Ngakoe

That combo should be able to keep linemen off of Jack.  If he's legit, then he'd be a star.

We could go small with

LE Fowler

DT Jackson/Campbell

DT Day

RE Ngakoue

Depending upon down and distance, we'd have a natural rotation able to keep the DEs and DTs fresh.  Poe and Jones could be the run down DTs.  Jackson and Day could rush in passing situations.  Or if we wanted to give a different look, you could move Campbell inside next to Poe or Jackson.  If we wanted to run a 4 man look and give Ngakoue a breather while maintaining pressure...

LDE Campbell

DT Jackson

NT Day

RDE-Fowler

Poe would give us a true NT, and give us the capability of running a traditional 3-4 front

LDE Campbell

NT Poe

RDE Jackson

While not endless possibilities, there would be far more flexibility than we've had here.

But I don't think he's getting out of Indy without a deal.

If he ends up in Oakland, him at NT and Khalil Mack...

Poe is the way to go

Agreed.

With his history with Ballard and the Colts need at NT, I can't see the Colts letting him walk.

If he leaves without a deal, I think that would potentially trigger a buyer beware response, because to me, it might mean he isn't healthy, Ballard has some misgivings about his performance, or his contract demands are insane.

You never know. He just may want to explore every option before signing. He may think the idea of playing next to Campbell and Jackson to be awesome

I think a lot of people would consider that awesome.

What would the 3rd down package look like though?

Good question. I think for sure you have Fowler and Ngakoue on the outsides. Probably rotate the inside between the 3 based on matchups/hot hand. If Jack is playing MLB, you could also have Fowler rush from SLB and have Campbell and Ngakoue on the ends with Malik and Poe inside.

Not to mention a legit rotation to keep guys fresh and rested.
You think we're in the Jared Cook market? Haven't heard anything

Vikings' investment in OL is off the charts. Riley Reiff gets $58.75M over 5 with $26.3M fully guaranteed. Mike Remmers gets $30M over 5.

I'm told DT Dontari Poe is planning to travel for a visit w/ the #Colts on Sun. Hearing the owner may send his jet to pick up Poe as well.

He would be a good fit for them, which is why I don't want them to sign him at all.

He would give them their biggest, best most physical interior DL presence since pre injury Steve Emtman.
I'd offer him a big 1 year deal just to keep him away from Indy.

I hope that would be the case.
