Quote:I'm told DT Dontari Poe is planning to travel for a visit w/ the #Colts on Sun. Hearing the owner may send his jet to pick up Poe as well.
I wonder if the punch bowl of "blue and yellow purple pills" will be there as well?
Quote:I'd offer him a big 1 year deal just to keep him away from Indy.
I wouldn't add someone we really don't need and he will probably get 5-7 mill for one year. Our DL looks good already with the recent signing and we have the number 4 pick. We need some of that money to extend some of our players. If Poe goes to Indy I wouldn't worry too much. Its not like he will change that sorry defense they have. I rather spend on OL if there are any good guards available. No to Poe.
Quote:Jags interest in Poe is surprising.
If he;s healthy and we somehow landed him, not only would it keep him out of Indy, but the versatility we'd have would be unreal.
We'd have a HUGE 4-3 look with:
LE Campbell
DT Jackson
NTPoe
RE Ngakoe
That combo should be able to keep linemen off of Jack. If he's legit, then he'd be a star.
We could go small with
LE Fowler
DT Jackson/Campbell
DT Day
RE Ngakoue
Depending upon down and distance, we'd have a natural rotation able to keep the DEs and DTs fresh. Poe and Jones could be the run down DTs. Jackson and Day could rush in passing situations. Or if we wanted to give a different look, you could move Campbell inside next to Poe or Jackson. If we wanted to run a 4 man look and give Ngakoue a breather while maintaining pressure...
LDE Campbell
DT Jackson
NT Day
RDE-Fowler
Poe would give us a true NT, and give us the capability of running a traditional 3-4 front
LDE Campbell
NT Poe
RDE Jackson
While not endless possibilities, there would be far more flexibility than we've had here.
But I don't think he's getting out of Indy without a deal.
If he ends up in Oakland, him at NT and Khalil Mack...
Poe, if he still has game left (I didn't watch a lot of KC last season but most what I'm hearing is that he didn't live up to his "name" last season), I think he gives us a PERFECT front for Gus/Wash' Hybrid scheme (i can already see everyone rolling their eyes at the thought).
But Yannick at Leo, Malik at 3T, Poe as NT, and Calais as the 5T would a really good front on-paper.
I still don't see the 3-4 look that many suggest, even with the addition of Poe(if it happens) and Calais.
The 3-4 is built on the linebackers, especially the OLBs who can rush and ILBs who are thumpers. Of our LBs, the only one that fits that scheme is Dante.

Signing him to a 1 year deal this year has no impact whatsoever on extending our current players.
If you have the chance to add quality to the dine, you don't pass it up.

Never heard of him.
Chris Tomasson @christomasson
#Vikings showed a little interest in bringing LB Audie Cole back but not a lot. Reportedly going to Jacksonville.

Quote:He would be a good fit for them, which is why I don't want them to sign him at all.
He would give them their biggest, best most physical interior DL presence since pre injury Steve Emtman.
He'd make that defense a lot better if they can keep his snap count down.
Its interesting how certain teams never really have good players at certain spots. For instance like you said, when have the colts ever had good interior guys?

If we got 2-3 of these guys would make a big diffrence for this team. I'd like to bring in Ware ,Long and Lang that would be awsome.
Ware would be an awesome signing. He could teach so much to Fowler/Ngakoue
I'd kick the tires on Long too

Yup that's what I'm sayin.

ok thanks man, TJ Lang would be an awesome fit at LG as he's a better pass protector than run blocker, a left side that features Albert/Lang is quite impressive. The Jags can then focus on upgrading the right side of the line by targeting Forrest Lamp in the draft, he's going to be an elite RG in this league, he's great in the run game and pass pro. A line that features Albert/Lang/Linder/Lamp/Parnell would be awesome
Quote:Sign Mangold
I can agree with this idea at this stage.
He isn't what he was, but he's still decent, I think. He has seen every front and blitz and would give us better play than Wiz a few years back.
He could allow Linder to return to G.

Theres no reason to move Brandon Linder from C to G, just target a G in free agency or the draft. Linder was one of the better C's in the league last season, why would they move him again? Mangold isn't an upgrade at that position at this point in his career

I was referring specifically to the DL as far as a 3-4 front.
If you stood Ngakoue and Fowler up, you'd have the OLBs for the 3-4-at least in theory.
ILBs would be another matter. So would depth.
If you had a space eater like Poe at NT, maybe you could run with Jack at one ILB, but the other ILB is not on the roster.
