Quote:One that is good out of the shotgun, like Mixon. Cook was good out of the shotgun too but hell no at 4.
Mixon is the perfect fit for this team. Plus he can be had later in the draft. Would be nice to be able to grab an elite defender at #4 and an elite RB like Mixon.

Forget the shotgun. I Form, behind the FB. Power Football!
I honestly could see us trading up to one to select Garrett. That would make a statement to the AFC South.
Campbell Garrett fowler and yannick. Welcome to The jungle prepare to get hit.
Quote:They wont base selection by combine.
"There are two more data points that jump out immediately: Fournette’s high percentage of toss (or sweep) plays (17.2%) and the fact that he primarily ran with the quarterback under center (85.7%)."
The Jags were in shotgun 73% of plays, and Blake has played in a shotgun offense his entire career even going back to college. If we take Fournette we are trying to fit a round peg into a square hole one way or another.

Finally someone with common sense.
Some people are seriously stupid when it comes to Fournette. Plz don't become scouts.
Assuming the interview go well, I think Joe Mixon would be the best bang for the buck. Solomon Thomas in round 1 and and Joe Mixon in round 2
I would be shocked if Coughlin even brought in Mixon as a free agent.

Jimmy Smith says hi.

Thats the main problem with the running game now. We are in shotgun entirely way too much. Time to get a fullback and line up in I-formation. If Blake can't do a simple task such as hand off the ball from I then we obviously got the wrong QB and need to cut bait now while we still can.

Jimmy Smith cold cocked a girl close fisted?

No but he was n serious issues back in dallas and labeled as potential bust.
You guys might want to get used to Ivory, Yeldon and Grant next year. That's going to happen.

Where is this idea coming from? That Coughlin didn't take chances on questionable guys? He even was part of the coaching staff that coached Lawrence Taylor.

Which has what to do with Mixon?

As I said in whichever other thread, 73% was barely above league average. Shotgun is NFL base offense, like nickel is now NFL base defense.
Running backs have to be able to play out of the shotgun now. Can Fournette? I have my doubts. Lack of burst gets exposed even worse with shotgun runs, hence why LSU didn't use them and used a lot more sweeps than the normal team. His yards created/attempt out of shotgun were almost a full half yard lower than NCAA average.

agree
McCaffrey would be the most ideal fit at RB for this team. Him and Mixon.

I like McCaffrey, but Dave said at the combine "he'd be a great 3rd down back"
Not sure he likes him as a lead guy.

LSU didn't use them because they don't have a QB. The passing game was a non threat. They made the most out of what they could and featured Fournette who basically carried the team his entire collegiate career.
