Lets get to this bridge first before we talk about crossing it.

Any link to back that up? Even the AP reporter who made the claim ran away from that report.

We'll still be talking about Blackmon in the year 2020.

no fbt   I saw a lot of articles that said what I repeated. but its been awhile    but hey show me a link that said it was bull Wink

It should be crystal clear that Blackmon has no intention of returning. If he did, he'd be here. Plenty of time has passed for him to get back on the wagon and it's apparent that isn't going to happen so we need to just assume he isn't on the roster. This topic is becoming more like the Tim Tebow posts for the last couple of years as being the biggest dead horse we've beaten.

Quote:If this guy cam play like he did in 2012.. this offense is gonna be good.. blackmon Robinson lee hurns greene at WR.. thomas and lewis at tightend blackmon is that missing piece/homerun threat..

I'm skeptical that he is even at the point where he can apply for reinstatement.  That window MAY just be opening now considering the incident last July.  So, what his intentions are at this point remain to be seen.  The fact that he's not here has more than likely nothing to do with his intentions, and may be simply a matter of logistics.

I agree it's a dead horse until such time as he applies for reinstatement.  Until that happens, there's absolutely nothing to talk about.
nothing to see here folks.... move along, move along.

Which is why we will see threads like this every few weeks.

Considering most of them are started by the same, thought provoking OP, it shouldn't come as a surprise.  He forgets he's retreading the same conversation over and over again.
Does his contract ever expire or do we retain the rights to Blackmon through the rest of his life due to his suspended state?

Just checking as this thread may go well beyond 2020........

His contract is basically frozen during the suspension.
This is such a compelling topic I had to make sure I got in on the action.

That is all.

You've seen the pictures of Blackmon looking like an aspiring tight end, right? I think that says a lot about what his intentions are, regardless of whether or not he technically can apply right now.

That says nothing about his intentions.  Unless you're in his head, you have no idea.  The fact that he's not in an NFL conditioning program, or working with the team and staying in shape doesn't indicate anything about what his intentions are.  And even if those pictures are an accurate depiction of his current physical condition, you do understand that getting back into football shape would happen pretty quickly once he's reinstated, right?  This is a kid that's had a lot going on in his life that hasn't been good.  That doesn't mean he's got no intention of getting back to the game.  We won't know what his intentions are until he's eligible to apply for reinstatement, and he's given an opportunity to get back on the field.

I don't think I'm saying anything groundbreaking here, am I?  There have been many outstanding football players who didn't focus on their conditioning when they were away from the game, but worked their way back into shape when they were.  We've had a few of them here in Jacksonville over the years.  This guy hasn't been involved with football in any way for almost 2 years.  It shouldn't come as any surprise he's not in shape, just as it isn't a stretch to think that can be remedied pretty quickly.

Big Grin good for you stigma !

RIP Justin Blackmon's career.
