I'm pretty sure that if he's reinstated, they'll make room for him.

Meanwhile Josh Gordon is staying in shape and working with Randy Moss at his football academy while Justin Blackmon is taking bong rips, stuffing cheetos in his mouth, and chasing it with a bottle of vodka.

Anything to back up what Blackmon is up to?  You know, like a link or something?
Its friday friday friday! No news? awww man....

I'll just say that NFL players have killed people and have gotten shorter suspensions than what Blackmon has been serving.

If they kept going back and killing more people after the first suspension they probably would be in Blackmon's situation, too. That's Blackmon's problem, not that he screwed up, but that he obviously doesn't care about anything other than getting drunk and high.

Justin Tyrone Blackmon .............funny stuff
Even if Blackmon does apply or has already applied for reinstatement, Goodell has a couple months leeway to make his decision. Something tells me he's a little busy with another suspension right now.

If he is not back by now. Highly doubt see him this year.

Impressive!

It has nearly 200,000 views, and yet this is the first time I've even seen it...and I'm a mod. Now I'm wondering just how big my Salary Cap Thread was at its height.

Quote:I'm not holding out much hope that he'll come back and be anything close to the player he was prior to the suspension, but I'm of the mindset that he'll be given an opportunity to prove he is worthy of a roster spot.  Maybe over time he'll regain that level of play.  Maybe he won't.  He'll have a chance to answer that question soon.

The suspension isn't tied to the adjudication of the incident.  It's tied to the incident itself.
The suspension is tied to neither the incident, nor the adjudication thereof.  He was already suspended indefinitely before the July 2014 arrest.  The arrest (and subsequent plea bargain) simply reset the time-clock under which the league is likely to consider his possible reinstatement.  He's been technically eligible to apply for several months, but conditions of reinstatement are abstinence from substances of abuse and arrests and/or convictions for any criminal activity.

Plus, he apparently hasn't even been in touch with the team in over a year.  He's done, probably forever.

The clock reset on the day he was arrested last July.  What the exact date it was reset to is the big question mark.  A suspended player is eligible to apply for reinstatement if they've remained clean and stayed out of trouble for a year.  Assuming the reports of his rehab are accurate, and the expectation that he would remain clean as a result, he should be eligible to apply for reinstatement any time now.

He's not permitted to be in touch with the team under the terms of the suspension. They've received updates periodically through his agent, but that's it.  Contact is limited beyond that.

We'll see if he's done or not soon enough.  I suspect he will eventually get reinstated.  At that point, we'll see where he's at and a decision will be made based on that.

Like with just about everything surrounding him, this also has not been confirmed by any source.
I was holding out hope more than anyone that he would make his way back on the team but I've moved on at this point. Outside of a few random sightings at casino and wedding parties, Blackmon has fallen off the face of the earth. I'd have to belive if JB was working out and preparing for a return, someone somewhere (especially in the age of twitter) would have seen him or said something.

It is strange there is almost no word on the guy outside of the occasional "I heard from a guy who a knows a guy that he is doing better".

I really hope I am wrong but I just get the feeling he is done.

Nothing has been confirmed, but you can figure out certain things based on how the league and the NFLPA have set these guidelines up.  Unless something has happened since that last arrest, there is a timeline that can be applied to determine roughly when he should be allowed to apply for reinstatement.  I'm sure he and his agent are well aware.  That much has probably been communicated to the team as well.

So, that's a no.  Thanks.
His teammates (and supposed friends) are not restricted from contact.  I am surprised we have not heard any real chatter from current and former teammates.  Blackmon seems to have significantly distanced himself.
