He has been out of football a long time. I don't know.... I have mixed feelings on him returning. He threw away a great opportunity and for what?

All we can do is wait and see.  At some point over the next few days, he should be eligible to apply for reinstatement.  He'll either apply or he won't.  If he applies, I would imagine he'll be reinstated.  If that happens, he'll get an opportunity to make this roster, and he'll sink or swim based on where he's at as a player at that point.  I don't know if he's done with football or not.  Nobody does, and they won't until such time as he actually takes that first step.

Quote:Is this the most viewed and also most posted forum thread ever. Sad if it is but it does show wasted talent interest of Blackmon.
The only reason for the numbers being what they are is because there have probably been 20 or more threads merged into this one.

This thread should be moved to a non-football related forum.

My thinking is, even if he does apply and get reinstated, he's not going to be anything like the player that so many on this board thinks that he is.  I could be wrong, but being out of football this long and the events since then leads me to believe that he's "damaged goods".
Ill say it

.Hes coming back.

Hes going to be reinstated.

Hes going to play this year.

Hes going to do well

I think my old Salary Cap Thread still holds both of these records.

I think this year's official free agency thread in NFL at large is also in the running with 250+ pages.

And then by week 9 we wake up and see Blackmon has been suspended again for violating the substance abuse policy.

November 20th is the one year anniversary of the plea bargain resulting from the marijuana arrest.  A condition of reinstatement is no arrests and/or convictions for any criminal activity, including substances of abuse-related offenses, during the banishment.  Week 12 would be the earliest possible reinstatement.

He's not playing this year.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would they penalize him more just because the court takes it's time to prosecute him?

If there is more of a delay it would most likely be because he has chosen not to apply or he has had an additional infraction that isn't public knowledge like a failed drug test.

I'm not holding out much hope that he'll come back and be anything close to the player he was prior to the suspension, but I'm of the mindset that he'll be given an opportunity to prove he is worthy of a roster spot.  Maybe over time he'll regain that level of play.  Maybe he won't.  He'll have a chance to answer that question soon.

The suspension isn't tied to the adjudication of the incident.  It's tied to the incident itself.
The 90th roster spot has been filled by WR Greg Jenkins.
