Quote:I'm not saying don't do it ever.
I'm saying be careful who you draft and sign.
Because that is the risk you take.
Can't get all choir boys. But every GM hits a Blackmon or Jamarcus Russel in some draft or D.Flo or Porter FA period.
It's the risk of the biz.
If you give someone 'guaranteed' money, then it is contractually binding to give it up, regardless of what they do (or don't do)
Now if you write the contract in such a way to protect the money, that is different.
Maybe they did write JB's that way, I don't know.
But if not... take your losses/lumps and move on.
The Jaguars were extremely deliberate and careful in the way they structured the deal for Blackmon based on his history at the time.

Regardless of how the deal is structured, I don't understand people's urgency to get rid of Blackmon. Regardless of whether he plays another down, he's not costing them a penny and he doesn't take up a roster spot.
So what's the difference?
Quote:Might not be too long, if he gets a few more pops he could be looking at a lifetime suspension.
He essentially is on a lifetime suspension now. The only way he gets back into the League is if he applies for reinstatement. If he does nothing, he won't get back in.
This thread is depressing. It's just a reminder of how awful our first round receiver picks have been.
Since the birth of this franchise...this team has taken 4 WRs in the first round: Soward, Blackmon, Reggie Williams, and Matt Jones...
They've combined for 12 seasons played, 462 catches, 5909 yards, and 40 TDs...
Meanwhile, Dez Bryant, who this team passed on due to "character issues", has caught 381 passes, 5424 yards, and 56 TDs in 5 seasons.
i havent been on as much as of late, and this thread is huge, did we ever figure out if he can reapply yet and just hasnt or if he is still not allowed?
We still don't know anything Achilles.

He can reapply but it sounds like he doesn't want to.

How exactly do you know this?
Would be awesome if Justin just came out and said "Im done" or "I'll be back"....something...Just so we hear it from him.

Common sense.
The kid's done. The only time he'll see a football field again is in a couple of outdated versions of Madden

NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE
POLICY AND PROGRAM ON SUBSTANCES OF ABUSE 2014
as agreed by the National Football League Players Association and the National Football League Management Council
Procedures for Reinstatement Following Stage Three Banishment
Any Player who has been banished under Stage Three may apply formally in writing for
reinstatement no sooner than 60 days before the one-year anniversary date of the letter so
banishing him.
Yall just chill, he will be back soon!
I think we're over the "need Blackmon" hump. Sure, if he were in tip top shape, and came back, we could use him. But we'll never see that Blackmon again. We are working on developing a solid receiving core, without the need for him.
But, for a good laugh, in case he returns, see the below thread

Still one of my favorite players but i dont think he's coming back.

Twitter link?
Let's all raise a glass to Justin.
I myself thought he would come back as well. But as soon as I heard the comments from DC. I was done hoping. Besides, he was right, B14 should be waaaaayyyyy out of football shape.
