The lady has an interesting accent that is not Floridian or anything else I can think of in the U.S. I need to look her up online because when I watch it I'm always thinking, "what is that accent?" and it drives me nuts. Lol.

Thanks dude!
Last night I watched the first episode of the Netflix limited series All the Light We Cannot See. It's based on a book that won a Pulitzer.

The story of Marie-Laure, a blind French teenager, and Werner, a German soldier, whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II.

What a fantastic episode first episode. I could have binged it had I started earlier in the day. The girl who plays Marie is blind in real life and has never acted in anything, ever. She is really good. I can't wait to watch more.

Sounds like something I would like, thanks for the recommendation.

You're welcome! I hope you like it, too.
I finally watched "Justified: City Primeval," and it was disappointing. It didn't live up to the old series, and they put Raylin in a romance that didn't seem plausible to me. Plus, there were a couple of episodes that seemed like filler.

We watched it and had similar thoughts. Dude in his tighty whities was about to drive me to punch my tv. I've since watched some episodes from the original series to reset my brain.
If you enjoyed Reacher on Amazon get ready for season two coming out 15 December. Alan Ritchson was born for the character of Jack Reacher.

True Detective season four starts up in January.  I still think it will be tough to live up to season one with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.  But with Jodie Foster as the lead I think it has potential.

I’ve rewatched season 1 more than I care to admit. It’s probably my favorite single season of a show. McConaughey absolutely killed that roll. Season 2 was garbage but three was pretty good.

I never got the hate for season 2, it was very different than season 1 but had more in common with it thematically than season 3 did. I guess people were turned off because it was SO dark.

I’ve read that there’s supposed to be some kind of connection between all the seasons and it will become more evident as more seasons are produced. Season 4 stars Jodie Foster but the original creator isn’t as involved, so we’ll have to see how that plays out.

I know you weren’t directly addressing me, but I didn’t necessarily hate season two.  I personally like two better than three.  But season one set such a high bar, in my eyes, that it’s going to be tough to beat…or even match.
I've been watching The Peripheral on Amazon and I'm really liking it. I put it on my list when it came out but avoided it for some reason. It's hard not to binge watch. Especially since I'm down with a nasty sinus infection and am on antibiotics that has drained what energy I had so I'm a couch potato the last few days. I am holding myself to one episode per day, barely. Lol.

I enjoy movies and series like this and Inception and others of this genre, though Inception has required several viewings to understand what the heck is going on. Good thing it has a great cast and is interesting. I looked up the book The Peripheral is based on and tried to read the first chapter but the verbiage was too....weird. Not easy to read. Too bad. I'm reading All the Light We Cannot See (a current Netflix limited series I've watched) and it's really good so far.

Anyway, if you enjoy sci-fi type shows you'll likely enjoy this series.

That’s fair. But like Rico said, one set such a high bar it was never gonna be easy to match at least imo. Garbage may have been a little strong but it just didn’t hit like one to me

No doubt, season 1 definitely set a very high standard.

Season one was fantastic. I have watched it at least twice. The chemistry between Woody and Matthew was great. The back and forth banter and the 1,000 yard stares and philosophical nature of Matthew's character was serious but also hilarious at times. That was a great year for him in general film wise.

Season two wasn't terrible. I think what hurt it for me more than anything was how busy it was with too many actors in it. Vaughn had his moments. Farrel had his moments, and, he was probably the best character on the show. Kitsch's and McAdams' characters were forgettable. The only time I recall seeing Kitsch in anything else before that show was John Carter of Mars. Which I actually liked when it came out.

Had they scaled back on the storyline and focused on two main characters, like they did in season one? I think that season would have stood out more. Vaughn's and Farrel's characters were complex enough to pull it off.

I didn't get to season three yet. I heard it was decent though. I might play catch up on it when I get some time off.
I ended up binge watching Outsiders on FX (Originally aired on WGN) awhile back while on vacation out of town for a week. I liked it. It was also cut short due to production issues. The story was simple. You had a bunch of mountain folk that had been living on their land for generations, making moonshine and stealing from the town folks from time to time.

A coal company comes in, pushing local authorities to encroach on their land so they can tap into their resources for money. David Morse starred in it. Pretty good actor. Always plays the creep, bad guy or bully character well. Which he did a combination of all three as the patriarch of the family. Only lasted two seasons back in 2016, 2017 but it was decent.
If you watched and enjoyed the show The Pretender from the mid-90s, it's on Prime. I absolutely loved this show and never got to see the last season in 2000 due to moving to Germany. I'll be glad to finally watch it.

I tried watching it when it first came out and I couldn't get into it. I might try it again for something different.

One to watch is the four part series, Brawn: The Impossible Formula One Story produced and hosted by Keanu Reeves. Even if you know little to nothing about F1 it's still an interesting story that no script writer could write and no one would believe is a true story if there weren't any records and witnesses of it happening.

The storyline from IMDB: In 2009, competing in the most expensive and technologically advanced racing series on Earth, the impossible happened. An understaffed, underfinanced and independent team won the World Championship, with a team that cost just £1. Go behind the scenes of this Formula 1 fairytale with the people who were there, on the track, in the garage and the boardroom, giving their own thrilling versions of a miraculous year. Expect exclusive access to the F1 archives, much of it previously unseen - from a year that global sport will never forget, with contributions from British F1 driver Jenson Button and Ross Brawn, who led the team to victory.
