The wife and I are binge-watching The Morning Show on Apple TV+. It's a very good show, far better than the reviews say it is. I don't understand why it gets such mediocre reviews.
I've been watching Yellowstone over the last few weeks.  I was really into the first four seasons.  I just started season five and the first three episodes have left me thoroughly unimpressed.  Did something change?  I just haven't enjoyed the first three episodes but I'll force myself to watch until the end since I've already invested this much time in it.

Yeah - that first season was so good, I've rewatched it a couple of times when traveling.

Looking forward to the 4th szn

A really good old detective show (90's) that Pluto TV has a few seasons of is "DaVinci's Inquest"
It's centered around the coroner's office and murder investigations in Vancouver Canada.
Ian Tracey, Donnelly Rhodes and Nicholas Campbell turn in some good acting and it is well written despite being dated.

I once met the actor Nathan Fillion at a party in NYC (he starred in Firefly, Castle, etc) He is Canadian and we got to talking about Canadian TV. When I mentioned the show he lit up and talked about it for ten minutes. Was apparently a big hit on Canadian TV.

Scheduling issues is what they are saying is causing it to end. Rumors earlier in the year were talking about issues with writers, cast, and Costner. They had planned to add a new Dutton to the show for season 6 but that was obviously cut. So they had to cut whatever was planned to introduce the character, had very little time to film it, actors not invested, and the writers/producers were also working on Bass Reeves I think around the same time.

There is also some other spin-off they are working on.

I think they could only push that constant sense of crisis for so long.  "We're all about to die, get arrested, go crazy, get murdered, go broke, get run off the land," and on and on and on.  Eventually, I got worn out with it.

Tyler Sheridan has his fingers in too many pies. Quantity over quality will fail every time.

I watched 15 minutes of one episode and I was feeling bad vibes so I turned it off. I like a good drama and that ain't it.

There is definitely too much drama because the story has extended beyond the original storyline. A lot of it is over the top and feels like filler.

The other 2 single season shows, 1883 and 1923, were a lot better. Haven't watched the Bass Reeves show yet, hoping that one is good also.

I did like 1883. I haven't seen 1923 yet but I like the idea of the continued storyline in such a unique way. We just got Paramount again to catch up on a few shows we like.
Just finished billions on showtime that was how you end a series. They paid everything off and tie up all the loose ends loved it
Continuing my binge-watching on Apple TV+, we are now watching "For All Mankind," which is an alternative history of the space race. For example, it starts out with the Soviet Union winning the race to the moon. And then they and the United States both put bases on the moon.

It's a very good show. We are still in season one, but my understanding is that it continues on into the future, to Mars and beyond.

Great show, very imaginative and quite good with how they manage to merge real history with the divergence caused by the Soviet Union getting to the moon first. The impacts are wide ranging and some are pretty unexpected. It’s the butterfly effect in full bloom. We are up to date and my understanding is that a season 5 is in the works and the plan is to take it 6 or 7 seasons which would push it beyond present day.

The show has caused me to look up a lot of stuff, to see what is actual history and what is created for the show, and one interesting thing I learned is that we had 13 women who underwent physical screening tests during the Mercury program.  The character Molly Cobb is based on a real person, Jerrie Cobb, who was one of those 13 women.  They didn't allow them to become astronauts because of the requirement that all astronauts had to be test pilots, and there were no women test pilots.

AppleTV has the best shows out right now.

Make sure you hit Foundation, Shrinking, Lasso and Invasion. Foundation is so good.

It’s interesting in the show that the USSR landing a woman on the moon is what finally spurs NASA to get women in space.

I watched all of Lasso, and Shrinking.  I have seen the first couple of episodes of Foundation.  I have not seen Invasion at all.

I agree with you about Apple TV.  The quality of the shows on that channel is pretty impressive.

I guess Nixon felt competitive and didn't want those communists to look better than us.  Keep in mind, this is one of the fictional parts of the show.

How is it interesting? Or how does the USSR landing a woman on the moon become a catalyst for NASA doing the same? Well, I'll answer both.

It's interesting because in the show, the US and NASA had already lost ground to the Soviets in the space race and were very much in catch up mode. I figured being in that position would have made leadership open and innovative enough to recognize that bringing qualified women into the program would grow the talent pool. But it doesn't initially. Without getting too spoiler-ish, it relates to developments both scientifically and culturally in later decades in the series that were interesting to see play out.

The Soviets landing a woman on the moon spurred Nixon to direct NASA to bring women into the program so as not to be seen as falling further behind the Soviets. I don't think he cared one way or the other but he wanted to maintain an appearance that the US and NASA were keeping up in every way possible.
Another cool thing about For All Mankind is all the little details that are impacted by the one major divergence. One that stuck out to me (I don’t think it’s to much of a spoiler since it doesn’t directly impact the plot) is that John Lennon survives being shot and The Beatles reunite briefly in the 1980s. They sprinkle little Easter eggs like that here and there.

We wrapped up the series finale of The Crown. That’s a very thoughtful and well executed show. The actress that plays Princess Di in particular in later seasons is pretty amazing.

Because, like Mars, the Moon needs women.
