Agreed. They're giving him every opportunity to prove himself. It would be nice to see things click for him, but if they don't, I can't see them holding a roster spot for much longer hoping he'll turn it around.

Haha yep, I'm "versatile" as well, I can play all 22 positions on the offensive and defensive side of the ball at an equally awful level.

D-Rob was getting snaps at WR because of injuries at the position. He had two drops - but he probably fielded more passes than normal. Not concerned.
I have confidence he'll do something special enough carrying the football to warrant a roster spot. If not - we know they gave him a solid opportunity and we can move on w/o regret.

We'll see. Maybe you're right. Still, if they intend to use him in multiple scenarios where they're trying to get him out in space, he needs to be consistent in catching the ball regardless of where he's lining up.

I have a hard time betting against you. I do hope D-Rob does special things on the field but I see him on the bubble. I don't know why they would carry 5 backs when WR are dropping like flies. I rather have Gerhart, Todman, Storm, FB, and 6 WR to be safe.

There's a ton of upside there if he can just find a way to hang on to the ball. He's a phenomenal athlete. It would be great to see him put it together and become the play maker they've been hoping he'd become.
With Gerhart out, and so many holes with the receivers, if there was ever a perfect time for him to cement himself here, this is it.
Never really had a lot of hope for DRob unless he could make it as a dynamic returner and utility man to a couple of other positions. College football has produced a ton of ahtletic QBs over the last 30 years, but the list of those who have successfully converted positions to the NFL is awfully small. The learning curve for WRs is ridiculously steep for guys who've played the WR position their whole lives, much less for a guy trying to learn it for the first time. Quarterbacks can look like great runners in college when the defense is trying to defend the pass or account for the option man, but when you just put the ball in their hands as a running back and make NFL defenders miss as a running back it's a different ballgame.

Definitely, if he puts it all together I envision as a CJ Spiller type player, the Jags will give him every opportunity to succeed, if they don't, there will be 31 other teams willing to.

He's not a WR for the Jaguars. He won't be asked to be one. He has already shown he has the ability to make NFL defenders miss several times while running the ball. That's not an issue. Ball security has been his only issue.

D rob was clocked running a 4.43. He has good elusiveness but he is nowhere near a guy like cj.

He's fast. He's "worthy of exception" fast. He's not as fast as CJ Spiller -- but he's close enough to play a similar role as a spellback or change-of-pace back. That seems painfully obvious to me.
