Quote:I wonder if Arob plays week 4? maybe he is going to get the expierence of a live game.
Biggest dissapointment for me of the entire preseason is him not playing, before Bortles showed out the first week he was my favorite draft pick.

yeah I'd like to see him play too but no point in risking an injury. The way I look at it is let all the rookies be healthy and get their feet wet and 2015 will be the year.
Quote:but hold on.... Brewster played well according to Lageman and everybody else.  Us common folk don't know what we are looking at. We need the coaches and team employees to interpret the games for us.  They said he played "well".  Why change now?

No one said he played better than anyone else.  That's not what "well" means.  But run with whatever you want "well" to mean if it makes you happy.

You must have missed all the shows where they were talking about Linder possibly being the best interior guy, and McClendon getting most snaps with the ones this week.

That in itself would tell you the others are playing better no matter how well Brewster has played.
Quote:I still don't see how anyone can say that he played well.  He singlehandedly ended 3 offensive drives in less than 4 quarters of preseason football. That's bad any way you choose to slice it up. Unacceptably bad, IMO.

Brewster played well. Gabbert has been solid for the 49ers. Inflation is less than 2%.

Are you going to believe your lying eyes rather than the experts? Get with the program.

Quote:The band is almost together. Good news.
Doss is close too....and then just need Harbor!

McClendon struggled at 1st string guard but did pretty well as 2nd C. The only prudent thing to do would be to give him a shot at C with the 1st team and see how he does.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brewster gets some reps with the first unit, especially once Bortles enters the game. I imagine they would like to see the interaction between those two also.

It would be interesting to see how both perform against a first string D playing along side Linder.

Hopefully Doss will be able to go seamlessly at returner.

All indications are McClendon will get the start vs. Detroit.
Quote:seeing many tweets about Henne being praised by coaches.  Bortles limited to 3 snaps with 1s.

3 snaps?? LOL....seems like....pointless.

Quote:He got a total of 8 snaps today with the 1s in the REDZONE. 3 came from 11on11s and 5 from 7on7s once again in the REDZONE you know that area we never seem to find in the regular season. Oh and 8 snaps for a backup that seems fine.

Even 8 snaps seems really light.

Not sure how they can even gauge much on such a short sample size.

They just need to give him SOME reps with the ones. Remember Henne is still the starter, so taking away any reps from him is out of the ordinary for a starting QB in the NFL. They also are playing Blake for a quarter on Friday, and Henne for about a quarter and a half, all with the ones. Thats when you really judge his play.

The fact that your laughing is comical. Seriously, any reps with the first team is a very big deal. Ask Bortles if those three reps were pointless.

exactly... And aren't they really limited over the reps they can give? quality over quantity.
Interesting. From what I have been reading the 3rd preseason game is usually considered a dress rehearsal with the starters playing about 3 quarters.   Even the prep this week mimicked a regular season game week.  Bortles will actually be cutting into Henne's "rehearsal" time.  I'm guessing this is pretty unusual for the backup to split time with the starter in game 3.

Very unusual for this to happen but we are in an unusual situation this year as well.

What's to judge?

He shouldn't be starting anyway....right?

but 3 snaps?? Laughing

Thats like the equivalent of that little bag of chips they give you at bars/ restaurants when you order a sandwich.

If I was bortles, That'd be just enough to insult me and piss me off. Maybe its just me but I see some farve in this kid, in the sense that if he isnt slinging rockets all game, Hes going to be bored and disappointed. Thats how a real QB is supposed to be. Interceptions be damned so long as they come with a chunk of TDs

So what's to fret about? You've deemed he shouldn't be starting. He's only taking snaps away from your starter.

Henne could get all the snaps and still not be any better. Bortles can and will get better with more 1's snaps. He's already conquered two teams' worth of backups. Im tolerating this fool (henne) for another 8 to 16 games then thats it.

You and I see eye to eye here.

I really don't care about INT's when the QB is also completing for chucks of yardage at a time, and also generating a lot of points via TD's and racking up an efficient, high YPA.

QB's that regularly attack downfield are the QB that go far in the playoffs in this league. QB that play their game like Checkdown Charlie can and do beat the sisters of the poor in the league, but never make it far in the playoffs.

Playing not to lose is a terrible method of football.

I love the fact that Bortles tries to make those plays such as the pass out of the EZ to the 30 on the sideline. Whats funny is a certain segment of our fanbase cringes at that pass attempt. I LOVE that pass attempt and want to see more like it.

Bortles is quickly becoming a fav of mine with that style of play.
