It's amazing what one can learn on a Jags message board, isn't it?

I had no idea Bawwy Kripke was a Jags fan.

Quote:I think that moment actually summed up the 2014 season quite nicely. For whatever reason, this team just couldn't catch a break for most of the year, and this play really represented that perfectly. Fans had a moment to be excited about only to have the rug completely pulled out from under us at the end.

Pretty much.

Its like the football gods were just messing with us. Wait...Jacksonville doesnt deserve this. Denard fumbles at the one.
Not to derail this thread any further but I found this to be interesting:

Quote:actually the combination of all possible visible light. The white clothing will inevitably reflect the great majority of wavelengths coming into it. Nothing groundbreaking here, that’s common knowledge. But it’s only half of the truth!

Heat is not just coming from the sun, but also from our own sweating, hot (maybe in more ways than one) body. This heat source is also a hell of a lot closer than the sun. When wearing white clothing, all of the wavelengths of heat coming from one’s body are reflected right back! But when wearing black, it absorbs everything coming from the body.
With the help of just a bit of wind to ‘clear’ the absorbed heat, black clothing (with identical conditions of course - thickness of clothes and what not) is the far better choice to keep cool!

Ok, then wear black outside on hot days and then come back here and tell us honestly that you feel cooler rather than hotter because of it.

#nuts

Ah jeez, the color thing again.

If you are wearing a helmet, shoulder pads, pants, thigh pads, knee pads, socks, boots, an under shirt and gloves, how much difference will the color of your jersey (which isn't actually touching your skin) going to make on a hot day?

If someone has any scientifc evidence that suggests 'not much' is a wrong answer, I'd be genuinely interested in reading it.

Added bonus points if anyone can throw in something about humidity which is, you know, the problem in North Florida as opposed to sunshine.

Yall are forgetting the value of the placebo. If you believe you're cooler, you'll feel cooler

As said, pretty much all of the NFL teams in hot weather cities in early Sept games wear the white at home and force the opponent to wear dark uniforms, so they obviously feel theres something to the advantage.

If you and a few heel diggers want to keep pushing your crazy side you can, but its a waste.

So in other words, you have no idea how much a black jersey which has no contact with the skin will affect the wearer compared to a white jersey which has no contact with the skin, especially in the humid Florida weather?

...aww how cute.

But, no matter how much you need to toss insults around....Thats not changing that most NFL teams are still wearing white at home in early season hot weather games, forcing their opponents to wear darks. Thats still the facts....and they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't feel there was an advantage. Those that continue to oppose this have what they (NFL) actually ARE doing in opposition to their argument. So you and those that share your side of the uniform argument can stomp your feet and stick your fingers in your ears as you wish.

You ever consider that teams do this as a psychological advantage instead of a physical advantage? The only facts are the scientific ones presented to you that you seem to continuously gloss over.
Anyways could someone provide this thread with some gameday tweets?

Advantage is advantage.

The scientific facts can claim that the darker colors are somehow actually cooler, but I know how I feel when wearing the lighter colors in the heat and they indeed feel "lighter" whether that be psychological or what not. I'm sure the NFL teams still employing the practice must also feel that way. If they felt they were actually getting no advantage the majority of hot weather teams would have abandoned the strategy long ago.

Scientific facts also prove that a red traffic light is actually green if you are traveling fast enough too, so...

and a conditional pick...although if Gabbs continues to play as bad as last night, we'll never see that.
From myth busters website:

"A fan wrote in and asked a follow up question: "Does the color of a car affect the way it heats up?". The MythBusters used two identical cars, one black the other white and left them both out in the summer heat with thermometers in both. By mid-afternoon the black car had heated up to a temperature of 135 °F while the white car topped off at 126 °F, almost 10 degrees cooler."

Sounds like black vs white does make a difference. Check your facts, people.

Disagree with this because there is more radiation coming from the sun than your body. This really actually confirms the theory of white vs black. If white reflects back your own heat, then it should reflect back sun light instead of absorbing.
