The more I look at it, it seems that the only way Clowney is gone is if ATL trades up for him. CLE wont, OAK needs all the picks they can, TB has other needs, and I doubt STL wants to trade down very far to miss out on their top OT (only glaring need).
We will get a very good player at 3 no matter what. Im just praying we dont pick Carr.

It's possible but I doubt Atlanta trades up. Too many holes on the offensive line and on defense to give up picks again for one guy.

I think Barr is going to be the pick. Speed is what the new coaching staff preaches about and looks for and this dude has it. He's going to be a big time player.

Yeah, like I said I don't see them trading out either. It's hard to imagine the Rams saying "Oh, we need more picks" instead of saying "Sweet, we get one of the three top prospects in the draft AND we get to keep our original first rounder for something else"

They may be less inclined to trade up now due to the aftermath of that trade and the loss of key players, but to say trading up is not an answer for any team isn't accurate, either.
Dallas traded up and wound up with Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith.
Buffalo could not trade up with us and lost out on Ben Roethlisberger.

I'd agree with this if you are meaning the type of trade that RG3 and Julio Jones was....Those type of deals just aren't smart.

According to Peter King (MMQB) the Rams' GM has made it clear he's willing to trade down.
He kiddingly said he doesn't know how to draft without two first round picks.
I just honestly don't see STL trading down.
They haven't been relevant in a while, and are pretty close all things considered.

They gave up too much for Julio Jones, IMO. They were successful before he arrived and what exactly has his addition really changed as far as their end result as a team? And this year he suffered a major injury and missed the rest of the season.
What did Dallas trade in their trade ups for Dorsett and Emmitt? As said in my last post - I don't have an issue with trading up as long as the price isn't exhorbitant. Such as with the Jags deal to secure Blackmon.

I could see them going Matthews early. They've had such instability at that position. Jake Long just blew out his knee and can't seem to stay healthy. Saffold is a free agent and holdover from the previous regime.

Yeah Julio is a great player.
I don't remember exactly what they gave up for him, but if it were me I wouldn't trade up ever. You can get good players where you are drafting.
I just think Atlanta won't be trading up this year, even though it won't take nearly as much as it did to get Julio.
I also look at Washington. They traded all those picks for RGIII, who I think is a good player, but they could be sitting in the perfect spot to take either Clowney, or whoever they want.
It didn't sound right when I said Atlanta learned their lesson. Julio is a stud. Without question.

We all have different opinions on the positions and players.
But 5 months from now a lot could be different.
As of now I prefer Barr over Clowney, for a number of reasons. Clowney seems immature and for all his physical abilities I just don't think the risk is worthy of the reward. I'm OK with the fact that people won't agree with that. Also I think for the Leo position you're not really looking for the atypical 4-3 DE if I understand the position correctly.
Without Teddy (who I personally am not as high on as others) being there at 3, I think you take the risk waiting til round 2 for a QB. Although waiting til pick 39 could leave you with slim pickings, I still think there are some very good prospects to be had in the later rounds.
I mean let's be real, a new QB is going to do wonders for this team, cuz Henne just ain't it. But if we think a rookie QB is gonna come in with this team in the shape it is and just send us to the playoffs we're being silly. So if we get a guy that has to wait a few games or half a season to start while Henne or some other stop gap vet starts, I'm OK with it. As long we get a guy that can be the guy for a long time it doesn't really matter if one team gets a great player we all want or not. As long as we get the right player.
Do you really wanna reach for Manziel or Bortles at 3 in fear of not getting a guy in round 2? Manziel seems like a head case. A "me" guy. Immature to say the least. Yes he has some intriguing aspects to his game and he may be a phenomenal player in the NFL. But he may Ryan Leaf it up and tell his team to F themselves.
I for one will not participate in the hand wringing. The whining and worrying. Caldwell and his staff will scout and find out who fits us best. They'll trade if they can or need to. We'll get a QB at some point. We'll get a DE/OLB-Leo. We're gonna get 10-12 new guys from draft and FA. and another 6-12 through UDFA. And Caldwell and Gus will field the best team possible.
I'd be pretty happy getting Barr in the first, Bortles/McCarron/Garrapolo in the second Stork in the third.... and address WR, RB, LB and depth on the lines in the 4th and later

I saw a video posted of his game against Nebraska which I loved, especially the last clip where he gets fooled by the run tackles the RB and still gets back to tackle the QB.

Also there will be talented QBs that slip due to their injuries in Murray and Berger. Maybe this staff wants a more mobile guy, so maybe they like a Manziel or maybe they like Boyd. I don't know. But I do know I'm not gonna spend 5 months worrying about if we gonna suck again. I have no control over it. Some on here seem to think screaming at the computer is gonna change something. lol

what lesson from trading up? With Julio = NFC #1 seed. Without Julio = #6 overall pick. It is obvious they made the right decision to trade up for him.
