trade all our picks for one guy because "what if he's that good"
Quote:1. Houston- Clowney

2. St. Louis- Matthews

Jacksonville- Barr

Do you know how many posters heads would explode if the Jags passed on Teddy!

I would secretly enjoy watching it too.... Ninja
Someone commented on NFL.com that it would be funny if all the Juniors (Bridgewater, Manziel) and Clowney decide to stay another year to not be drafted by us and the other top drafting teams. I lol'd at the thought, but........... I wouldn't put it past any of them. We have the #3 pick and guess what, we may not be able to get who we need (whether they pan out or not, only time will tell). I love the winning of those games after the bye, but overall, did it help us in any way? This was my whole point to this season. Winning games (and games against other junk teams btw) don't help us going forward. All in all, I am happy to see where this team is headed. But having the #1 or #2 pick would have been more satisfying. We could take the QB or DE we need, or trade back and get much better value. Either way    GO JAGS!

Quote:They'll probably take Mathews.....but not at 2.......someone will trade up for Clowney or Bridgewater. St. Louis will still get their guy....and extra picks.

If Atlanta's offensive line is as bad every week as it was today, Matthews will be a Falcon any way they can get him.
Quote:If Bridgewater and Clowney are gone I think we take Manziel. Do or die.

Yes.....or try to trade down for xtra picks.
i think there is a 99% chance the Texans pick Bridgewater, so give up hope fellas

focus your attention on other players
You know for as much flack TMD gets, until we actually have a single winning season, which we haven't had since 2007, the sky is falling and this team is about as good as horse [BLEEP] pretending to smell like flowers.

Those wins absolutely did help us in a way: by creating the winning culture we need to succeed when better players arrive next spinrg. If you don't play to win, you won't win.
Quote:Please no Clowney. It depends on if we are going QB hunting in free agency. We should get a QB as soon as possible. Clowney isn't going to survive in the NFL, he's not discipline enough, and he's honestly not even that good.

Its not just "no Clowney"....its more about not having the pick at 2 which would have given you more opportunity to do good things with it.

You'd either get Clowney who is widely considered as a great DE prospect or trade the pick and rack up extra draft choices to what I think will be a multitude of suitors for the pick should the Jags have decided to not want Clowney.
Quote:Do you think Manziel fits into the Bradley scheme? If so, then I trust we'll get him. I don't know if Manziel is worth a 1st round pick

though... That's just my opinion

I think Manziel is exactly what Gus wants and they will build the scheme around him. I think he's worth no. 3 if he's your guy and you believe he can be franchise qb.
Mother of God.

He's now complaining that we won games.

Focus your attention on other players.

A 99 percent chance we can't get him means there is a 1 percent chance we will and therefore should not give up hope. If you believe in God, you can pray the Texans don't want him.
Quote:Kings ransom to move up 1 spot? idk about that.

Think about it, back in 2004, the Browns gave up a 2 to move up one spot to get kellen Winslow II somewhere between picks 6-7.

The Browns have two first round picks, plus the first pick in our group of teams in the 2nd round.  IIRC, they have extra picks in later rounds, too.

If we want to move up to 2, it'd take a lot to beat them out.

This says nothing about what other packages other teams might offer.

Oh please. The winning culture stuff is BS.
Quote:Its the Tacks turn to tank now.

So Im sure we will be seeing Luck, Bridgewater, and Winston in the AFCS very soon.

Yep, I won't be surprised at all if this happens.

I've been conditioned to expect it now, after 2011 and 2013 have given division rivals Luck and likely Bridgewater.

And not counting 2005, the entire rest of the years back to 2000 have been pretty much equally as bad.

I see where you coming from as winning can help the culture. But what happened to that culture the last part of the season? Did we lose that culture from losing the remaining games? Doesn't being blown out by the Clots diminish the winning culture? And really, what kind of winning culture is there? We won  4 games. 2 of the games against the "worst" team in the league, and 2 others against sub .500 teams. I am not putting down what Bradley is doing and creating here. Like I said, i love where we are headed. But, like I said from the start, without talent on the roster, there's only so much you can do. And honestly, we are so down as a franchise, we get excited about a 3 game winning streak and 4 win season? Really?? Like I said, we're going in the right direction. But those wins did nothing but shadow a team with very little talent. The draft is where we'll get that talent (not guaranteed I know, but most of the time, that's where you find it). And with the higher pick, we could have a higher chance. Those wins did very little for our progress going forward.

You either pick somebody you want, who probably will not be Clowney, or trade down. It is not Clowney or trade, but any player or trade.

And you don't need the #2 pick to do that.

Yeah, well.  I got nothing.  You're right, we do stink.  We stink pretty hard.

But maybe next year will be different.  I guess no matterwhat anybody says, untill we actually prove it on the field, anyone that comes on the MB and says how horrible everything is would be correct in their analysis.

I'd prefer to look on the bright side, though.  I doubt we have another Alualu situation,  I doubt we overpay for 1 year  wonders like we have before.  I doubt we bring in horrible FA's that just waste space like we have before.  I doubt we pick a Gabbert level bust like we did before.  I doubt we have hired a Mularkey level dumpster fire HC like we have before...

Yes we stink, we stink hard and we stink in epic proportions.  But this stink has the chance of having roses grow from the pile of cow patties of stink that was laid previously.  This year felt very different from the previous 2 years of stink.  It smelt differently as well.
3rd pick: Barr or more preferrably, Khalil Mack (just a preference really).  Speaking of Mack, is it much of a reach to take him at 3rd overall?

2nd round: Boyd or Manziel.

Quote:Typical for the Jags, basically the worst possible outcome. No Bridgewater and now no Clowney either.

And a glut of teams tied at 4-12 so our picks in subsequent rounds will be scattered.

It just seems scripted.

The NFL doesn't want this franchise to be successful while it remains in Jax.
at least we had the easiest sos lol
