Hahaha. When you get to the Canadian border, might as well turn around and go back.

On a side note, I've been trying to tell this to my Tampa friends. They're all under the impression it was too late and they'd get stuck on the roads. Everyone I know who left had a little delay but had no issues and found gas without trouble. My one friend actually hit more traffic in TN than anywhere else lol

Finally, safe from Irma.
Governor Rick Scott...

"Look, it's getting late. If you're not on the road on the west coast by noon, you need to get to a shelter, get to a friend's house if you're in an evacuation zone. Get off the road. [Storm surges in coastal areas could be as high as 12ft.] ...People cannot survive this".

I recently got off the phone with a relative that lives in Port Charlotte (slightly north of Ft. Meyers).  They "evacuated" to their daughter and son-in-law's home in Ft. Meyers yesterday in anticipation that the storm was going to be east of them.  Right now with the latest forecast track, they are expecting that they will probably lose everything.

The "good" thing I guess is that they are right across the street from a shelter in Ft. Meyers.  They haven't made the decision to go there yet, but they are considering it.
I feel sorry for the people in Miami area who evacuated to the west coast of Florida.

Pick up a few nice bottles of bourbon for yourself and one for me while you're at it.
Don't come a lootin', or I'll be a shootin'!!!

Say it ain't so.
What gets me is for the past 36 hours all the official tracks have predicted an immediate turn to the right. First the path ran up the east coast of Florida. When Irma continued west, all tracks showed an immediate turn to the right, but now through the center of Florida. Still further west, all tracks show an immediate turn to the right, now along the west coast of Florida. At some point they might have to admit Irma is not turning to the right. I see a recent little wobble toward the north, but it looks to this ignorant observer that Irma is traveling almost due west.

The thing about weather is that it does exactly what the computers tell you it won't at the worst possible time.

Irma has been unpredictable from the start.  It could still turn to the right.sometime.
I love how the stupid weather people on the news condone the people on the beach watching the weather, but those [BLEEP] are doing the same damn thing.. Hypocrites.
Jose looks like he's going to do a u-turn.

Omg.. If this was in the political thread, I'd make all kinds of comments..

Gotta be good.. Gotta be good..

So whats more terrifying? The formation of Irma's eye or Jim Piggott's eye?

Well condoning would mean they think it's ok.

I believe you meant condemn them. But there's a huge difference between people who do this for a living than tourists and people who think they can just ride it out. I'd put any amount of money down that Jim Cantore is a lot better off on the beach than Johnny in Ft Myers.
A tiger was just spotted running down I-75.
