There are no power outage predictions. They said many people in South Florida will be out of power for days or weeks but not if that is likely to happen north of Orlando. Mom is just preparing for the gas shortage and possible power outage like she did before Hurricane Matthew.
Many outages, last one I saw was in excess of 2 million without power.

Even though we've dodged the main core of the storm in Jax it seems, still going to be trees down and power outages.

I can't believe stores would take them back. Most electronics are not refundable. I'm curious of the count of [BLEEP] who electrocute people and set [BLEEP] on fire with the generator they don't know how to use.
I think Jacksonville will be spared with worst of it. We'll have a mess, and power outages, but probably not the widespread property damage that will be seen elsewhere.

Okay, everyone. Good luck.
6am update is in...

130 mph sustained winds (Cat 4)

moving NW at 8 mph

eye wall to hit Florida Keys within the next hour
520,000 power outages if Florida already.

Pictures coming out showing Miami streets flooded with trees knocked over all around.

I've seen projected outage maps all weekend on channel 4.   If you're in Gainesville, expect numerous outages by late Monday.
Wow. The rain bands y'all are seeing now in Jax are the outer bands of Irma. And she's still in the Keys.
News is preaching to stay off the roads, then show a reporter outside Beach Diner telling everyone they are open today. Yeah, that makes sense.

LOL Why would a restaurant be open today? Even Publix and CVS are closed here.

All I am getting here is a typical downpour. There is no wind, just tons of rain.
Well, dang. We've lost power already.

Yeah we just lost ours about 10 minutes ago

How are you getting online?
Probaly on cell phone battery.
Mine already came back on. Lord know for how long though
We're back up too. I guess my stern talk to the JEA call center hold muzak was enough to spur them into action.
Getting pretty wild here. We're in my mother's high rise condo. It seems safer than my house, which is surrounded by large trees.

It's extremely windy here on the river.
The chick on the TV just said that we're not even getting Irma yet, that we're getting a nor-easter storm.
I bought a 10,000w generator off the back of a truck yesterday for $1,000. Anybody got odds on that baby starting up?
I was afraid I would miss the game when my power went off at around 9:30. Luckily the outage lasted only an hour. Now there is some wind but the rain has let up.

If it works, I can guarantee it's stolen.
