Meanwhile Fowler had 3 sacks, Yan had 0.

Dude doesn't deserve a big contract, you want him to put pressure on the QB and get sacks, he is doing neither.

At least he caught it.

Remember the gift wrapped pick 6 that hit Ramsey right in the hands against Houston in which he proceeded to drop? I do.

Its time for Yan to impose his will like the elite pass rushers around the league. He wants to be paid like one, time to play like one.
I fully expect him to finish the season strong.

He’s still getting pressures. Sacks are only part of the equation. Let’s not act like he doesn’t have 3 seasons of production. He has the most sacks in team history through their first 55 games.

Pressures and QB hits are down also.
Hes had a consistently solid three years. Especially with hits and pressures
But THIS year his production is down across the board. I believe he gets back on track, but he has to ramp it up and start having an impact across an entire game rather than just a moment here and there.
Just going to say it one more time.

Yannick plays a DE in a 4-3. He goes one on one with LT's and has LG's and TE's to help if needed.

Fowler is now a 3-4 OLB. He ONLY blitzes. He cant play the coverage part so they blitz him on TE's.

Its nowhere near the same. You cant compare stats like that.

You don't watch the Rams at all do you?

again, you don't really watch them do you?
W can always tag Yan if we feel like his play dont warrant what hes asking for. I wouldnt pay him like a top 3 DE if that's what hes asking for.

Dante Fowler Jr. had a great game despite only playing 78% of the snaps, recording three sacks and three tackles for loss. Samson Ebukam was the No. 2 pass rusher opposite Fowler, and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo saw his playing time increase dramatically; he played 42% of the snaps.

I've watched the Rams this season, I'm not a Rams fan so I haven't watched all but if you think Fowler and Yannick are playing the same roles right now?

That's on you.

The tag is a terrible idea. You sign him to a long term deal so that his cap hit isn't insane. Giving him the franchise tag will kill this upcoming salary cap.

If you watched, at least a little bit, you would notice he has his hand on the dirt 95% of the time, he is in there at least 80% of the time which means he also plays the run and you would notice he does makes plays vs the run from time to time.

No, they don't play the same role (I never said they did), but Fowler is NOT only blitzing.

I agree. What I mean is hes not a conventional OLB. They dont drop him in pass coverage, they send him every time hes out there and as he lines up as an OLB, he gets matchups on TE's which are much more favorable. Plus he has Donald in the middle.

Ok, again, most of the time there 4 people on the defensive line of the Rams one being Fowler, so you are saying the 5 O-lineman go against the other 3 DLs and they leave a TE just to block Fowler?

Ok... I am done here.

Well Donald is double and sometimes triple teamed so it's not entirely farfetched.

In the 4-3, you have two defensive lineman (typically a 3-technique and 1-technique, meaning just outside the guard on one side and just outside the center on the other). The defensive ends float a bit (you may have heard the term ‘wide 9’ - where the end lines up outside of the TE) but are typically on or outside of the offensive tackles (a 4, 5 or 6 technique). In short - the farther out you are from the center, the ‘higher’ the technique is:

There is never a play Aaron Donald isn't at least double teamed.

I'd say 40% of the time he's tripled.

Fowler is reaping the benefits on that line, no doubt.

Just to play devil's advocate here.  So no one on our line is doubled so that Yann gets a favorable matchup?  I assumed Calais and sometimes Dareus get doubled but maybe i'm watching reruns of previous years.

The transition tag wouldn't be a horrible idea if it came to that though

Yeah it’s not to the same extent no doubt.

True, but help is help and Yann isnt being double teamed from what i see on Sundays.
I see Yan as playing well. He doesnt have to have sacks to be effective. If he takes on two OL then it frees up someone else. Just for a second lets remember this is a team game. Its perfectly acceptable to put team goals ahead of individual goals. I have no questions about his effort , hes a great teammate (more than I can say about Ramsey).

Not if hes asking for more than his worth.  There always has to be a limit on a player

As odd as this may sound when they put Bryan out there I see him getting double a good bit
