Same candidate that Gus Bradley was.
Quote:Todd Haley ---- OC for the Steelers. Big Ben is 5x better since Haley took over the OC position there. He'd do wonders for our offense and fill out the defensive staff with a competent coaching staff !!

Todd Haley by a mile. Went 10-6 with Matt Cassel as his QB. Has the offensive mind to make the most out of our weapons.

Is very aggressive and doesn't take [BLEEP] from players.
LOL at Nick Saban.

He has shown that he isn't cut out for the NFL.

Trade a 1st rounder for Zimmer or Arians.

Quote:Khan told Dave he would be given two head coach selections.

That would explain why Gus is still here. As long as Gus is head coach Caldwell won't be fired, since he hasn't made his second selection.
Someone who is actually known as a brilliant football mind and not "a nice guy".  Been a while since they've outschemed anyone.

Assuming Khan doesn't break the bank for a "big name coach", then I think Todd Haley makes the most sense. Sean McDermott is intriguing, but I'm not sure Khan will fill comfortable hiring another coordinator with no HC experience.

I did some reading on Josh McDaniels and apparently his time at Denver was a disaster. According to people in Denver, McDaniels only wanted to study game film. He HATED every aspect of the job, which included dealing with players, their problems, the media, etc. It's possible that he has matured since he left but he could be risky.

As noted above, Todd Haley got Kansas City to the playoffs with Matt Cassle at QB. He has done great things in Pittsburg and that should translate here as our offense is built somewhat similar to theirs. Haley is a good football mind, tough on his players, and detail oriented. That checks a lot of the clichés that I am looking forward. He also has local ties which is a nice plus.

I assume our defense would switch to a 3-4 as he seems to have been a 34 guy everywhere he has been. Maybe he could bring one of his former players and up-and-coming coach Mike Vrabel with him to be the D coordinator? I gues the one good thing with our current defensive scheme is it between a 43 and 34 so hopefully that gives us flexibility moving forward.

Also, usually second go round coaches do much better than their first stint. I'd be down.

I also wouldn't mind one bit if Coughlin was brought back.
They should probably hire some unknown from London, that way he wouldn't have to buy a new house.

Is this true or is this being thrown around based on the success of a couple of other head coaches?

this is kinda old... but

add to that list newer additions, like Kubiak and JDR

I'm in two minds about Coughlin. He is a legend and a bonafide head coach who has won it all but he seemed to lose his touch and make silly mistakes towards the end. Still an upgrade of course.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Petrino, the guy who walked out on the Falcons before the end of the season.

Dabo "Bring your own guts" Sweeney? Thought you guys were over the Rah rah coaches.

Jimbo, please.

Saban, PLEASE.

Cowher is done.

These weird suggestions are boggling.

No one is tossing around ol' Mike Shula?

Here's what we're realistically looking at in my opinion.

If DC leans offense, he likely offers Maronne or Olson the job. (Now if Gus goes mid season, and one of these guys continues to lose then they probably lose their shot. Maybe the whole crew)

If he leans toward another defensive minded guy, look for Matt Patricia, maybe Jim Schwartz.

I don't think we'll be dipping into college coaches.
One of the Kardashians or Trump.

Hey,  we're always complaining the team doesn't get enough media attention

:woot:

we will make history, kahn to hire first female football head coach

It could be nostaligia on my part (or heartburn), but he is a good coach. He has a lot of talent here to work with. He could fix this team, I think.

Fine with me if she knows what she's doing.
