Yeah, if Gus was gonna be fired, it would have been on Monday.  So now, it's on to London...  But he should be fired after that game.  Win or lose...

 

I mean, is that the consensus?  He should be fired even if we win in London, right?

I bet he won't be though.  I think Gus is retained until the end of the season, win or lose.

Dude... I agree with you on alot of stuff.  But I really hope you are completely wrong about this one.  There is literally no way I see us winning more than 4 or 5 games if Bradley stays on as coach for the entire season.

This is true, but Steve Spagnuolo and Rod Marinelli both coached 48 games, and have a worse record than Gus.  In fact as long as Gus wins 2 games this year (assuming he stays the whole season) he will still be ahead of them.  He's also still capable of passing a few guys who lasted even longer--

 

He can pass David Shula (who coached 71 games) with 6 wins.

With 8 wins he can pass Marion Campbell who coached 9 seasons (115 games).  He passes Joe Buegel (who also coached 5 seasons) with that amount too.  As well as Harland Svare (7 seasons) 

 

Of course noteworthy is that Marion Campbell served as head coach three times for two teams.  (Falcons-Eagles-Falcons), and Harland Svare had two stints as head coach too.  So it wasn't like they had one stint for four years with their kind of record.

 

David Shula remains the only other one that's really close (other than Spagnuolo and Marinelli, but they're the other way) that coached more than 4 seasons.  Not great times for the Bengals after him, either.  They still haven't won a playoff game.  They didn't even make the playoffs until almost a decade later.  Yikes!  

 

I'm thinking Khan will want to show patience, and not fire mid-season.  Unless he loses the fanbase, or Gus loses the locker room totally.

Oh, I hope I'm wrong too.  I just don't think Khan will fire mid-season barring total catastrophe.

Yes, it was classic too. Basically said, anytime he hears about a "players coach", it usually equates to being a loser. He isn't wrong.

Yes but it wont happen.

If we come out, play well and win, I don't think you fire Gus.  If we finally look like we have figured out something this week, why would you want to fire the coach and disrupt that?

I've heard that somewhere else before, just can't remember now. They said it's basically like they don't take a players coach serious. More like one of the players type guy and won't hold himself accountable and is scared to cause any adversity. This sounds like Gus to a T!

They spoke about his comments during the segment, and don't quote me, but basically said players (like any human) like to feel secure in their jobs and players coaches create a security blanket for them. They also said that good coaches find a way to utilize things players do well instead of sticking them in a scheme that may not highlight their talents.

 

They tried to refute Smith's rant by saying that there have been successful players coaches, but I think that totally missed the point.

I'm sure this has been said, but I didn't realize it until yesterday.

I used the same statistic to call out Josh Freeman's record as a rookie.

 

There's no good "win" against a bad team, as those are expected.

Quick Khan, sign him up for four more years. That kind of elite coaching talent is hard to find.

I'm asking cause I don't follow college, but which head coaches are in line for an NFL team? I know everyone is saying if Bradley is replaced it would be with someone we already have but I'm curious if there are any power house HC's in college looking to move up.
