Now for me this is a ridiculous question. The team has has had a huge improvement since Doug came here and the culture and expectations are better and higher than they've been for decades. I've seen this getting brought up on a few different NFL podcasts and such that this is an important year for Doug and missing the playoffs could get him fired. 

I think they forget the disaster zone he inherited and how quickly he turned us around. For me Doug is a great choice for us and I don't see many HC's I'd swap him with right now.

But how do you guys feel? Is Doug under pressure this year? Could a bad season see us make a change?

The only time I can see his seat being even remotely warm is if he went to a bar in Ohio. Other that that, he's comfortable right now.

Lol. It's a fair point. The bar for unacceptable behaviour by the HC got set pretty damn low by....that guy.

As long as he's around .500 or better his job is more than likely safe. I think the seat is hotter for Baalke, Taylor and Rauscher.

Stability is underrated in today's NFL. We have enough of the right pieces in the right places to make this work.

Pederson's willingness to move on from Caldwell after two years shows he's willing to make the adjustments when called for.

If the offense stalls again? I could see him assuming play calling duties to save the season and upgrading his staff in 2025.

I could see Khan looking to hire a VP of Football Operations to replace Baalke's position with a new face, or, at least acting as the final say in all personnel decisions if he thinks Baalke's evaulations or values are too weak in certain areas.

Doug is 18-16, with a playoff win under his belt already.

Thank you guys. This is where I'm at with it. Dougs done a great job and there are other people more likely to go before it falls on him. 

I do wonder if this idea of Doug being under pressure comes from the media's view on Lawrence. I don't know if there's a QB who's mistakes are highlighted as much and achievements astrikeded (that may be new word) as much as Trevor. It feels like they are trying to make a link that doesn't exist that if Trevor struggles then Doug isn't the right guy.

Trevor absolutely has to clean up the fumbles that's without a doubt we already know that. Everything else is great.

Him and Doug are going to be here for a long time. I have no doubts about that. HC has his QB and QB has his HC.

Seat cushion goes in the freezer after work each night.

Both he and Baalkie have been given Lazy-Boys the good one with vibration and temp control. Our owner has been searching a decade for competent team of people. He now has 2 and unless they start breaking rules, abusing players or doing dumb things they are fine.

It’s cold, but things change quick in the NFL. Coughlin got ran outta town after all he did.

Run run pass. Same sequence every drive from what I heard. I love our coach currently, but I don’t think it’s great when you have a super power, and you don’t use it. He is supposed to be an offensive guru, but he doesn’t want to call plays. I think he should follow The excellent example of superbowl coach Andy Reid. IMO

Ps if this is a do or die year, I’d want to be driving and not a passenger.

That’s like being in a horrible relationship and assuming you will do it again. I do think us jags fans are so relieved to have a lot better product, so we should not take that for granted.

I thought I read somewhere not too long ago, where, Doug was asked about resuming play calling duties, or, who would be calling the plays. There's a good chance he'll resume full time play calling duties if the offense struggles and stalls like it did last year. With or without personnel challenges.

He'll have to take the reigns at some point if they start getting into a slump that results in a 2 - 4 start. Just like Caldwell last year, it won't be Doug getting canned in the off season. He'll get rid of Taylor and more than likely Rauscher if the offense can't get it done in the trenches.

I don't think anyone's seat is even warm here.  Things are so much better now than they were before Doug and Baalke got here.  

If the offense stalls again, it won't be because of the play calling.  And it wasn't because of the play calling last year, either.

I think it depends on how long it’s left out in the sun.  Because I know if our golf carts get left out in direct sunlight for too long you don’t even want to sit on them.

I agree. It was due to, primarily, poor offensive line play, poor redzone execution and injuries that began taking it's toll on the roster. 

However, there's something to be said when your team keeps getting stuck at the same point. Let's say they finish 9 - 8 for the third straight year in row, but, they miss the play-off's for the second straight year in a row. 

From ownership's perspective. You just shelled out mega millions to Lawrence, Hines-Allen and Campbell. You also continue to throw money at free agency to address issues that should have been resolved a year or two again with better drafting. Mainly the LG & C position. 

There has to be some kind of meeting in the middle there. To get the team over the hump and into the double digit win column, (which even then, sometimes 10 wins is barely enough to get you a 6th or 7th seed if the rest of the conference is playing better than expected).

I still think, again, with or without personnel challenges, we may see a bit of pressure on Pederson to try something different, which really only leaves the only play possible in him taking back 100% ownership of the play calling duties on offense.

This is all hypothetical of course and only assuming they get off to a 2 - 4 start in large part due to poor play on offense.
