I am over a very young, improving QB.

OVER.
I'll admit Bortles has played well and has shown progress. I'd like to see him start stringing together starts like this.

One good half of football does not make up for a career of crap. It's a flash of the type of potential he has, but until he is able to do it consistently it won't matter. 13 points against this defense does not impress me.

Cause you could do so much better.

How many QB's in NFL history have gone from awful in their first season to elite later in their career? The success rate is not very high. I think everyone would expect more the the #3 pick, especially when a 2nd round QB from that draft is much better.

Save your family the embarrassment of having to claim you and just crawl into a hole and don't come out.

Peyton Manning? More INTs than TDs, and a 71.2 rating that isn't unlike Bortles' 69.5 in his first season.

He also set the record for rookie TD passes in an era that wasn't as kind to QB's and receiver's as it is today. I have a hard time seeing how Manning's rookie season is comparable to Bortles. Bortles only had 11 TDs to 17 INTs.

SO over this guy. He sucks.

....morons
And I didn't see a bad decision all day.
I am not over Bortles. He has shown growth, he seriously looks like a guy who can progress into a solid top 10-15 QB and thats pretty good overall. Maybe he can be better than that, but just over 1 season isn't enough.

As much as I've ragged on Bortles, I suppose a loft of it has to do with GB manning the helm. I'd like to see what Bortles can accomplish once Bradley is gone.

You know what I see 13 points against a crappy Clots defense yet

Another no show by Blake in the second half. 0 points in the second half!!!
Hi everyone. I found your forum before the Pats game. I live in Europe and my team is the Evil empire (Pats) but noticed before the game that this must be one of the nicest football forums I've seen. Especially after spending time on the Jets forum...

Anyway, after watching the game today I don't get the hate on Bortles. Good footwork, awereness in the pocket and keeps his head calm in pressure situations. And he's constantly under pressure (I guess it was even worse last year), so usually young guys just fall off a cliff in situations like that. Especially when he has very little talent to throw to. That big TE that you guys have was horrible against the Pats and not much better today.

And those were two difficult kicks today, so I wouldn't fire the kicker just yet. Especially after making a game winner earlier this season.

Good luck to the rest of the season, I'll be rooting for the Jags as well.

I was just about to write this until I saw this.

Kudos to you sir.
In this league it's always "what have you done for me lately." If we were to take out Blakes rough start week one -- a start that turned a bit ugly when our starting LT went down and they had to throw in a backup without practice reps -- his stats aren't that shabby at all. Blakes total over the past three weeks works out to...

63 of 116 (54.3%) for 813 yards (7.0 YPA, 271 yds/gm), 5 TDs and 1 INT for a 87.3 qb rating

3 sacks for 15 yards lost; 9 rushes for 65 yards (7.2 ypc) with 1 fumble, 0 lost

Man it's like some folks believe that improvement is a ROCKET SHIP that just goes completely straight up and never stops ...

Bortles has done well so far and has flashed some tremendous things. He will continue to do so.

Guess what? He will also make some mistakes as well just like the rest of NFLs quarterbacks.

For some pespective, here are the stats for the undefeated Cam Newton over the same time period...

49 of 90 (54.4%) for 634 yards (7.0 YPA), 6 TDs and 1 INT for a 94.4 qb rating

6 sacks for 33 yards; 19 rushes for 160 yards (8.4 ypc), 2 TDs and 1 fumble, 1 lost

Their passing stats are virtually identical except Cam has 1 more TD. The biggest difference is that Blake has more pass attempts where Cam has more rushes, although running more also means more sacks. Cam also has a couple rushing TDs, but on the flip side he's lost a fumble. Having said that, keep in mind that Cam is a big part of the Panthers running game. So really, that's a 4-0 team with basically the same qb but a better running game and defense.

It's a microwave world for some people. If he's not fully cooked already, it's time to move on.

If I remember correctly, you were either the big Geno guy or was it Bridgewater? Still sore?
