Quote:I watched him play this year and I don't think he doing no better than what blake doing with his team and he has a better team around him.
I'll admit he has Cooper, but Bortles has ARob and Hurns who together are easily as effective. When Carr plants and nails one of his deep strikes, I think inside, "Wow, did you see that pass." When Bortles does the same, I think "Wow, did see how our WR was able to leap and get that." Bortles is like 55 percent accurate... Carr is like 65 percent accurate.. Borlte's YPA is like just under 7.0... Carr's is just over 7.0. Bortles qb rating is around 85...Carr's is around 95... it's just all the little things across the board.
To be fair to Bortles though, he does have more TDs and yards than Carr.... of course he also has WAY more attempts, but I can understand that argument too. Then again, Carr has only had 3 picks all year.
So...
According to bacon -
Bb5 is an average nfl starter at the moment. His floor is being a bust. His ceiling is being an above average qb with an occasional pro bowl year or two sprinkled into his career.
That's a pretty darn good hedge that covers most the possible outcomes.
Can you guys please end this stupid debate?
I personally think his ceiling is more around a top ten to possibly elite. But who cares?
I think calling him average at this point in his career is pretty accurate. The needle points up, but that's another topic.
Quote:Have you had chance to watch Derek this year? Dude's on fire.
I think that is a dramatic overstatement
He's made big mistakes in big moments, just like most young QBs

Also blake has more throws and completed for 20 yds and 40 yds than him as well.

I've called it a day with our resident fast food sandwich. However I agree with him, he will either be good or bad. Someday he may make the pro bowl or he won't. If he never gets to the Super Bowl he won't win one. How am I doing?

Lol! Perfect!
He's mediocre right now in his second year. He may be a bust or a pro bowler in the future.
Unless...

In the future....
He...
Remains...
Mediocre

I just want to make sure I'm always right. For the 50% I'm wrong on, I'll just bring up the eye test.

Haha! Well done my good man!

Indeed he does. I didn't realize my comparison would make for such a controversy. On the flip side, however, Carr appears better at avoiding pressure as he's only been sacked 7 times compared to Bortles being sacked 17 times.
Although....
I do have to hand it to Blake for his rushing ability. Blake's got 149 yards rushing with 8.3 ypc compared to Derek only having 29 yards rushing with 4.8 ypc.
Eli Manning just threw a pick six. One thing I've been noticing watching the games this year is that Blake is straight up better than Eli right now, and the Giants just handed Eli an $80 mil contract this past offseason.
Quote:Have you had chance to watch Derek this year? Dude's on fire.
Derek Carr first half this year: 111 QB rating
Derek Carr second half this year: 74 QB rating
League worst 69 QB rating in 4th quarter........
Seems like a choke artist.....What else ya got?! Lol

Did....did you watch the Texans game? Bortles avoided so many sacks on pure athleticism. If it was a less mobile QB the sack count would've likely been 10 or so.
Quote:I'm not going to go through every thread and pick out examples, you can go through yourself. I promise you it isn't hard to find the delusion on this board. And again, the comparison their fails to contextualize the stats. I've done my part to cite actual statistics and correlated them with watching the games. Maybe to some the projection of stats means something, but I've yet to see one reason why.
It's a gutless tactic that the apologists use. They question you and ask for proof after you've clearly given examples of what you are discussing. It gives other apologists the hollow appearance that they've won an argument. It's deflection at its finest. Keep up the good posting!

You mean like when someone asks for stats, then dismisses them as being irrelevant when they don't serve their argument?

Site the example...
Stats can be skewed and misleading in all sorts of directions guys. There are so many variables that cone into play.
Some QBs have played more games than others due to bye weeks.
Some QBs have been hurt and missed time
Some teams throw it way more than others
Some teams have good o-lines, some don't
Alot of QBs success/failure can depend on the opponents they've played compared to other QBS
And so much more,,,, it's almost endless.
Blake is a decent/good QB. Does he still have some issues? $^&& Yeah he does! Will he work them out? Hopefully.
But, I will say that blaming everything on the defense is a bit over the top. Have we already forgotten that the offense was not very good at all (particularly in the 2nd half) in the first few games of the season? It's really only been the past couple weeks that the offense got it together and the defense went AWOL. I remember the defense doing very well in the Carolina, Dolphins, Colts games, only to see the offense struggle to do anything.

Good post but in the Colts game the offense was not good. Sure Blake threw for 300 yards but it doesn't mean the offense did well. They only scored 13 points.

Yup. The offense was not very good in the Colts game. Agree
