I get David Carr as he had a low trajectory on his passes much like Mariota, but I'm suprised to see Drew Brees on this list.

QB Blake Bortles ranked 4th in Rushing (as a QB) by Football Outsiders
1st R Wilson
2nd Cam Newton
3rd C. Kaepernick
4th Blake Bortles
5th A. Rodgers
----------
QB Blake Bortles ranked 14th in QBR in the NFL with 63.7, 16 in DYAR, 17th in YAR, 19th in DVOA, 3rd in TDs with 10 (1 less than he made all season last year), is he perfect?
NO, but he's showing improvement despite lack of talent around him and having to learn a new playbook under another OC...
Most likely HC Gus Bradley will be fired sometime this year or this season... and he will most likely get another OC and playbook for next season... hard on a young QB but he is one of the postives on the team along with Linder,
Marks, Thomas, Hurns & Robinson are improving (hope for Lee if he could ever get healthy), TJ Yeldon promising maybe... need to see more, Parnell shows promise and Cann is learning in his rookie year.....
Offense isnt horrible overall about average in the League... get off of the Bortles hate...

Quote:Good post but in the Colts game the offense was not good. Sure Blake threw for 300 yards but it doesn't mean the offense did well. They only scored 13 points.
The Colts game was a classic tale of two halves. Blake did great the first half, but stunk the second half.

This coming from the guy that blames the QB for holding penalties... LOL!

Quote:Decision making isn't even the most concerning thing for me, it's that he throws awful, inaccurate balls at least 30 percent of the time. He literally struggles to throw the ball at times, and that's not something you should have to worry about in professional football.
5th in TD's (13)
6th in passing Yards (1,630)
tied with 6 others at 7 interceptions
while being 5th for most sacked QB's (17)
You are so ahead of the curve sir.

I find it hard to believe that if I'd started a thread before the season asking folks if they'd be content with a 13/7, 1630 line through 6 games, the response would have been overwhelmingly very satisfied.

Jags fans have NEVER seen that kind of production from a QB after 6 games. Please excuse their reactions.

This message board is turning into a cess pool. We have a young and upcoming qb and some people are stupid enough to say that he's not any good.

I've got my cesspool water wings on and I'm in full back stroke...
Blake is not the answer.. he hasn't learned from his mistakes..
He's still throwing costly INT's in his own territory. Same mistakes from last year.

Cool. He's still going to be here for at least two more seasons.

Blake makes the games exciting. I'm happy with him. I haven't seen a QB with this much talent on our team since I've been watching. 5th in TDs, 6th in pass yards, and 4th in rush yards by a QB. His toughness, pocket awareness, arm strength, playmaking ability, these are traits we haven't seen in forever here in Jax. I'm very happy with his progress. Back to back 300 yard, 3 touchdown games? I'll take that. I just don't see how anyone can see his year 1 to year 2 progress as anything but encouraging. Behind an incompetent offensive line, limited run game, and horrible defense, Bortles is a bright spot. A VERY bright spot.

He's 23 num nuts. He will make these mistakes for 2 more years. All that matters is that he's improving and at this point is the MOST improved player in the NFL.
Carolina Panthers (5-0)- Cam Newton 8 TD, 4 INT---1078 yards-----83 QB rating
Jax Jaguars (1-5)---------Blake Bortles 13 TD, 7 INT--1631 yards-----83 QB rating
Bortles has played good enough to be a playoff QB this year. The entire rest of the team has NOT. Look at undefeated Carolina....the difference is defense. Knocking a 23 year old QB who the Texans WISH they drafted who's gonna go from 11 TDs to 30 plus is borderline ignorant.

I guess it's time to bench Tom Brady then.

And he has also improved in that arena from last year so saying he hasn't learned would just be flat out wrong. Bortles threw 12 INT's same time last year compared to 7. Compare that to 12 vs 7 for Bortles. Not only that, he has thrown 5 less pics while throwing 34 more passes. In 2014 that would equate to 1 pick per 17 throws. In 2015 it equates to 1 pick per 34.5 passes. Just making sure we are providing accurate information. That is just over 100% increase from one year to the next so far. Granted, I am more interested in his yearly comparison, but that is what we have for now. Criticism is fine just helps when you are fair or do a little research.

wow best quarterback play we have ever had in Jacksonville and people complain. I realize the season isn't going the way we had hoped. but I certainly cant blame bortles. seems he has gone out of his way in the offseason to become a better quarterback and it has paid off. if our other players had the same kind of work ethic.
