I don't understand why for two years now we've seen a fantastic QB in preseason with Blake Bortles but then he falls flat during the regular season.  Is it really that much different?

Since this is the Bortles thread... I'm going to post this here.

 

Bortles' lack on translation to the regular season shouldn't really be that worrisome. He's young and currently running an offense with a bare cupboard.

 

What should be worrisome is if the running game doesn't get it going and allow Bortles to calm down and translate his mechanics to translate to the regular season game. I believe this is partially why Caldwell was interested in a veteran runner like Demarco Murray in the offseason, because I think it's safe to say the Jaguars may have been close to a .500 team with someone like Bortles at the helm instead of Gabbert, especially with a still-effective MJD in the backfield.

 

If TJ Yeldon and Denard Robinson can combine to make an explosive running game somehow, I guarantee you you'll see Bortles become some sort of master in the passing game, and I feel like the optimism is warranted after the limited action they saw last game.
