Got to love Mondays!
That pick-6 messed with his head...

The entire offseason, we've been all over Bortles jock and praising him through social media, messageboards, ads, etc. He was basically "big man on campus" and even the nice showing during preaseason validated that. Maybe Bortles bought the hype himself.

That pick-6 let the air out of that balloon, and he seemed to be rattled afterwards. I pray to the football gods that he recover from that setback

That pick 6 was really bad but if there is one thing that kills the confidence of a young QB, it's bad drops.

I mean he was hitting WRs right in the numbers and they would drop it. Didn't see that happen to Mariota (because Tampa left everyone wide open).

That throw to Hurns at around the 3 yard line is why I'm optimistic about Blake.
If you don't like Blake Bortles go root for another team

It's not about disliking him, it's the realization that we just don't know yet what we have at QB. It's troubling. I think that's the biggest dissapointment in many Jag minds right now.

There were at least 4 passes of 15+ yards (including the Greene drop at the 2 yard line) that every NFL receiver should make.  He was 22-40 with 183 yards.  If the receivers catch those passes he would have had a 65% comp with 240+ yards and we probably score from the 2 (ok maybe not) which would make his line and overall game look much different.  Add in Hurns' first down catch and fumble on Carolina's 15 and everything that could have gone wrong did.  Obviously the pick 6 was horrible but I don't think he played as bad as the score or his stats indicate.

I agree. Just seemed that anything that could go wrong, did. And that's kind of what has been happening the past 2 years.
This is exactly what I meant in one of the other Bortles threads when I said I always expect this team to fail and fail hard no matter how good everything looks.  I'm never surprised.

He looked really bad but im still holding out hope bc i dont wanna draft another qb in 1st rd again

Blake passed for 60% but he's inaccurate. lol. What a joke

The worst part of yesterday wasn't the coaching, the defense, the Oline, the dropped passes, or play-calling. It was Bortles. We have a huge ? if he's going to be our QB of the future, or just another experiment gone wrong. We can't have a guy that throws pick sixes every game, and that's what he does consistently. It sucks to think about.

At least Bortles flashes talent and plays well for stretches. The first half was good, we saw the improvement in the off season carry over. He needs to work on those sideline throws but those are tough and you can't expect every throw to be right on the money. We were moving the ball and could have easily went into halftime with a lead were it not for the drops and the fumble.

The second half was a different story and is what worries me. The play calling was terrible but Blake just can not throw that ball (the pick 6). After that, he was gun shy and started running into sacks. His confidence was absolutely shot at that point yet it was still a one possession game at that point. Hopefully Blake learns to shake off the turnovers and remain calm, or else it will define his career and we will be looking for another QB in a year or two.

Hopefully by then, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Big Ben or another HOF QB would be washed up according to those teams' standards, have been cut, and we can pick him up. That's probably our only chance at getting a real QB in a Jags jersey in the next ten years

yeah and he had 4 drops. there are a lot of idiots on this forum. heck Brian Walters has best hands of Wide outs on team. Catch the ball its different game.Bortles isn't my concern. Need to play and coach better.

I like Blake bortles and I want him to succeed. But let's not act like he played well yesterday. He was crap. Outside of his favorite two minute drill he had nothing. Every team suffers from injuries and drops. Good qbs overcome adversity.
Doesn't matter who the QB is if receivers can't catch or are rarely healthy to even play.

Lol he overthrew at least 5 passes because he's scared and innacurrate.

That's on the coaching and the gm.
This is basically the same team we had at the end of last year.  Our #1 pick is out for the year.  JT is out a few weeks.  We started a rookie running back.

What did you expect?  Remember....IT'S ONE STINKING GAME!  Let's give it a few weeks before we jump off the Dames Point Bridge.
