Quote:I think it's more likely he was throwing those balls away. If you notice, nobody was open on those plays. At least nobody he saw. I know the wide outs he threw the ball towards on those plays certainly weren't open.

Maybe. But I considered them overthrown because this is what he tends to do.

"Blaine" Bortles QBR was an abysmal 25.4

That placed him right above Ted Bridgewater with 24.6, and below Peyton Manning with 26.4.

All trailed King Luck, who posted a 38.7.

Nice just compare him to all QB that are so much better than him feel better now?

BTW I would take King luck over BBINT any day, any century, whatever

Nope, just being realistic.

In case you missed it, there was a lot of bad football played by a lot of good teams/players week 1.

If that's still the case week to week, certainly that's a problem.

But right now, wake up and take a look around the league.  Last season the "experts" were calling Brady's career done after their loss to the Chiefs.  He ended the season with another ring.

Week one was a bizarre one for many teams.  If you can't recognize that, then you've missed the point completely and not likely to ever get it.

Pirkster honestly man you've been on this board a long time you have to be tired of the constant losing with this team. I mean is every week

nothing ever changes year after year when do you reach the boiling point?

I personally think your point is still understated. As proof, all you need to do is look at the volume of pick 6s and PR/KR for TD. It seemed like in every game someone was either taking a pick to the house or scoring on a return. I personally remember seeing 5 P6s in 5 different games, and I'm pretty sure there were more than that.

Our struggles aside, pirk is right. There was a LOT of bad football played this past weekend. It just so happens our Jaguars, and even the Panthers, were among the legion of teams who looked like steaming piles.
lol damn Bortles goin in.

Boiling point meaning what? Starting threads about Bortles on an anonymous message board? That'll show em'.

Buuuwaaaa. It's the truth, we think we know but we don't.

He is right as much as it ruffles feathers. I mean we're not in the room we don't know what the true plan is even if it doesn't work out. Good to see he's defensive over Greg Olsen. Says a lot.

Jags fans just got #rekt
Like Gus said he needs to give his WRs a chance to make plays on the ball, his 2 ints yesterday one was just he got hit and the other one was just awful stairing down a guy in the flat who wasnt close to being open.

I hate that play to begain with if we are gonna throw it to RBs, use screens or down the field on wheel routes with LBs covering them, not to the line of scrimmage on the sidelines when they are covered by the number 1 CB on the other team

Letting things you can't control get the best of you works every time.

I was disappointed we lost just like anyone else.  I'm disappointed it's been a long road for the team.  But I'll be damned if I let that defeat me or control me and dictate my reaction.

Life goes on.  It's just a game, and I just watch.

My circumstances have caused me to not be able to attend as many games as I like, or even watch as many games "real time" anymore.  As a result, I watch games on the DVR (the skip button is fantastic - from tackle to next snap in the push of a button.)  I truly believe you "see" a much different game when you watch out of context.  It removes the emotion/anticipation from the process and you focus on the play.

I saw two teams trying to give the game to the other, it tipped Carolina and the pick sealed it.  In the perspective of the Vikings/49ers game, if we clean up our mistakes (and yes, most did look fixable) then I feel we can hang with most teams in the league.  The Vikings have a very talented roster and were awful against a defense that played well.  On the other side, the defense and running game carried the 49ers.  Save for Blake's missed read on the pick 6, Kaepernick and Newton played the position worse than Bortles yet their teams still won.  Both missed plays, and both tend to hold the ball too long and laser fire late passes into risky places.

Biggest issue I saw was that Bortles had trouble settling into a rhythm.  So if that's the "biggest issue" then no, I'm not worried that it will continue.  Not that I'm a worrier anyway...
I'm not claiming Blake has looked great, but comparing him to Blaine is pretty silly. Blake actually tries to run the offense. Blaine would just crumple in the pocket out of fear. Blake is head and shoulders a better QB and it's not even close. Give him a chance to develop as a player.
