Quote: Thanks for mentioning Marco Rubio's book.   After I finish Ted Cruz's book,  I plan on reading Rubio's book.   If Ted Cruz isn't the Republican Nominee for President in 2016 and the other candidates that are in my current top 5 come up short as well,   I hope that my enthusiasm for Rubio from a few years ago is back.    To the point that I will want to donate directly to his President Campaign.   This election is absolutely vital.

To Marco Rubio's credit,  he decided not to run for another U.S. Senate term in this campaign cycle.   Regarding that Senate seat,  I'm hoping that Lt. Col. Allen West emerges as the next elected U.S. Senator in Florida or becomes part of Ted Cruz's Presidential Cabinet.

I would most certainly vote for Allen West.  Talk about a no-nonsense intelligent guy.

 Absolutely.

In addition to what you mentioned,   I'm impressed by Allen West's leadership and courage.    I gladly gave him a campaign contribution in 2012 and plan on doing the same if he runs for federal office again.
Quote:I do like Ted Cruz's remarks, and I admire him for not being afraid to speak his mind.  That being said, I also like what Marco Rubio had to say about it.   Wink

I'm going to add A Time for Truth to my reading list.  I would also recommend American Dreams by Marco Rubio.  In it he lays out specific ideas that I can agree with.
Bernie Sanders does this also.

Big fan of any politician who actually says what they think. I don't think Cruz believes what he says though. I think Rubio is real, wish he wouldn't pander to the establishment as I am sure that is where he is going.

Why do you not think that Cruz believes what he says?  Give some specifics.

As far as Marco Rubio "pandering to the establishment", can you give any specific examples?

Seriously I would like to see what you think and then see who your contrast to those thoughts are in the democrat party.

Bernie Sanders "says what he thinks", but he's just a puppet right now.  I would wager that most U.S. citizens would disagree with him regarding what he says and his "vision" for the country.  It's very early in the race right now, but Hillary (ugh) will absolutely destroy him in the primaries.

Here's a bit of a secret.  Being far left will not win the presidency.  Of course, the case could be made that Obama won the presidency being far left, but is that how he ran?  Please show me how his presidency is the most "transparent" that he talked about.  Please show me how he went "line by line" (his words) through any budget sent to him and excluded anything.

Allen West has about a 0.0% chance to win a Senate seat.

Oh you are in fight mode again. You guys just simply must fight about everything don't you.

My personal opinion is Cruz is not genuine. It's as simple as that.

Rubio was much more moderate in his positions, or at least in the way he portrayed them than he has more recently. I used to like Rubio a lot. Now I just sort of like him.

I can't wait to hear your insane position on how Sanders is somehow a puppet. A very long tenured and consistent a politician as himself, some how has simply been a puppet while being much farther left than the majority of congress. Yup that totally screams puppet to me.

You're secret is as pointless as me saying none of the far right candidates stand a chance of winning and neither do any of the theocracy crowd.
Quote:Allen West has about a 0.0% chance to win a Senate seat.

Who do you feel will win the Fla. Senate seat that Marco Rubio currently has?

Being that Florida has a sizable Conservative base,   that alone gives me hope that Allen West can win the Senate seat.   West is going to need to raise plenty of money from grassroots supporters like myself,  being that the establishment will either work to defeat him or stay out of the race if West wins a potential Republican primary.

Even if Allen West doesn't win the Senate seat,   I definitely think it would be beneficial if West's voice is heard in the race.

It's interesting to get different perspectives,  as for me I have found Ted Cruz to be as genuine any candidate that has been in Congress who is running for President.   That's a substantial reason why I have been supporting Ted Cruz in multiple ways.

As for Marco Rubio,   I don't find him as Conservative as he was a few years ago which is why he's currently not in my top 5 preferred Republican Nominee for President choices.   Another example of two people seeing the same situation differently.

Cruz upset me when he caved on the whole shut down thing, because the Budget wasn't truly fixed yet they once again comprimised at the tax payers expense.

At least from my perspective,  Ted Cruz was one of the few Republican Senates who didn't cave in.   Mike Lee (  Utah ) is another who didn't cave in.

There are alot of options on the Republican side. There is a congressman named Ron Desantis that will be the establishment candidate. On the other side, it's Patrick Murphy's to lose.

It's certainly going to be a difficult challenge for Allen West to win the Fla. Senate race but I think he has at least 3 major positives going for him:

1  )   Allen West has strong convictions and candor,   which I think appeals to a large portion of the potential voters.

2  )   Allen West has a large national grassroots following.   I get many emails from West directly and other Conservatives who promote West.    I'm optimistic West can raise plenty of money,  which definitely will be needed in this race.    This despite the establishment will be against West.

3  )  Last but not least,   West has a U.S. military background.

The more I see and hear regarding West,   the more I want to help his candidacy and overall promotion of his ideas/ positions.

Ron Desantis isn't really an establishment guy, he's only voted with the party on a handful of votes. He opposed the party leadership openly several times. I think his vote for Boehner was his first establishment vote, I've followed him very closely since he was elected.

Well he's definitely aligning himself with the establishment to get elected to the Senate. His top adviser is Tony Fabrizio, who was a top adviser for Rick Scott. He has also already been endorsed by Club for Growth and FreedomWorks.

Quote:<div>The PGA of America has released this statement concerning the 2015 PGA Grand Slam of Golf:

"The PGA of America met with Donald J. Trump yesterday and the parties mutually agreed that it is in the best interest of all not to conduct the 2015 PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Trump National -- Los Angeles. The PGA of America is in the process of exploring options, including a venue for its annual PGA Junior League Golf Championship, and will comment further at the appropriate time."

I don't really consider FreedomWorks an establishment endorsement I don't know anything about Club for Growth. As to who runs their campaigns that's got to be a limited pool so there's not much to draw off of.

I'm not sure what you mean by "fight mode", but whatever...

You say that your personal opinion of Ted Cruz is that he is not genuine, yet fail to cite any examples of this.

Regarding Marco Rubio, you fail to point to any examples of him pandering to the establishment (your words not mine).

Bernie Sanders is just an "also ran" when it comes to the democrat primaries.  He has very little appeal to most main stream Americans and appeals only to his base, that being the far left and the un-educated.  Yes, he does speak his mind, and that is proof enough to me that he is never going to be elected President.  Some of the media are publishing stories related to the crowds of people coming out to see him, but take a look at where that's happening.  It's mostly in blue states and blue areas of the country.  The fact that he identifies himself as being a socialist alone makes it almost certain that he will not win the democrat primary.  However, the democrats need the illusion that Hillary is fighting a "tough primary".

The bottom line is, a successful candidate, and something this country really needs right now has to be closer to the center of the political spectrum.  That's precisely how Barack Obama was able to defeat Hillary in the primaries in 2008.

A far left candidate such as Bernie Sanders has no chance, just like a hard right candidate like Donald Trump has no chance.

You state Bernie Sanders is a puppet yet fail to cite any examples.

And since you are being intentionally obtuse for no apparent reason, here you go:

o·pin·ion

  1. <div style="margin-left:20px;">

<div>a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

It's not impossible for Sanders or someone else to beat Hillary. She is not well liked, aside from being corrupt as all get out she has way to many hawkish points for most left leaning people.

boudreaumw, I like to debate you because you are clearly on the "other side" in most of our discussions.

I pointed out in my previous post(s) my beliefs, and you have failed in your above posts to answer any of the questions that I raised.

I find it mildly amusing that you wont discuss why you feel that Ted Cruz is "not genuine" (your words not mine), and you fail to give examples of that opinion.

I certainly put forth my case regarding Bernie Sanders being a puppet.  Some mostly local media reports breathlessly how he "appears before massive crowds" as if he is so "main stream".  However, watch how quickly the "main stream media" disregards him once the Clinton attack machine starts up an goes into full power.

Here is something else to ponder.  How many national "main stream media" outlets are reporting about him?  I looked earlier, and no major news site had anything to say regarding him.  The only "press" that he's getting is the far left "blog" websites.

There is no question that the only reason he is in the race is to be on Hillary's left so that she can be viewed as a "moderate" candidate.

Once again, I point to my "little secret" that I stated earlier.  Being far right or far left isn't going to win the presidency.  It's going to be someone closer to the center.  Bernie Sanders is most certainly not, and Hillary is trying her best to move that way.  To her Bernie Sanders is more of a hindrance since she can't pander to her real supporters, those being on the far left.  She's tacking to the center in the attempt to get what really matters in politics, those closer to the center of the aisle.

Maybe he feels Cruz isn't " genuine" because he wasn't born here?

Wait. Why does that sound so familiar.

But who cares, he hasn't got a Canadian snowballs chance in the Texas desert of getting the nomination. And Col.Sanders has about the same chance as Bernie.

Clinton vs Bush? Now one can debate, since that has a much higher probability.
