Even to concede that the raider's O-Line is better than our O-Line, the fact remains that other teams are much better at getting the best out of their teams than we are.
For instance, we went with the Wolverine like 4 times. It should have been abandoned much sooner than that. On the other hand, the spread option worked the 1 time BB5 kept it... But we only went back to it 1 other time, in which he gave it to Shoelace and it was stuffed.
It's like we don't know how to use our team to get the best out of them.
This is what I'm talking about. Most teams keep doing the things that are working for them until it gets stopped. We just stop ourselves and go back to the things that aren't working
Exactly ---- Why would the locker room be sick of Bradley saying great job after the team continues to fail.
Where else can you get a pat on the back for giving up 2x as many points as you scored on average.

Like Hugh Douglas and Aaron Ross said when they were here.
Playing in Jacksonville is like a paid vacation.
The local media are some of the biggest cheerleaders for the team.
RGIII and Geno Smith get raked over the coals by the media in their home markets.
The media here are just mouth pieces for the team.

I think guys like Roy Miller, Red Bryant, and Chris Clemons can be those guys that just get sick of the cheerleader head coach.

Bryant and Clemons are Bradley's guys.
Quote:Coaching sure does matter doesn't it.
Crazy how a good coach gets the best out of their players.

Yes its coaching. Our OC has no clue how to call a play to suit a certain defense he just looks at the play book says 2 and 15 we have not tried this run yet. The incompatence of the performance of the offense is not on Gus but the OC and other offensive coaches. Fisch needs to be gone and we need Roman in here to put a NFL quality offense on the field.

This is true and as far as the young guys go, they don't know anything else in the NFL. Maybe a guy like Lewis can step up. I'm sure he'd like to win something in his career. Then again, if I was getting paid a lot of money for minimal effort and no consequence, I'd keep my mouth shut and wait for pay day too :whistling:

I agree the OC stinks but what I disagree with is giving Bradley a pass. He hired the coaches. The HC owns the failure and success of a team. If they need a new OC then it's his job to get one. I think he should have realized he needed a new one after last season.
Bradley can delegate authority but not responsibility. As in he can entrust the offense to the OC but if they fail, he owns it!
Quote:This board has officially lost it (no pun intended). Firing Bradley and Caldwell right now would be one of the most devastating things that can happen to our franchise right now. The truth about this team, and this rebuild is that it's going to take at least 4-5 seasons for us to be back in the playoff chase again.
Face facts! We're one of the worst teams in the league right now. We suck. Plain and simple. And we're stuck with one of the least experienced and underdeveloped rosters in the whole league. I agree that some guys like Fisch have to go, but nixing the rest of the coaching staff and management is pure insanity. That's the last thing that a QB like Bortles needs right now, and it can be argued that, that's the main reason why Gabbert failed with all of the coaching and management changes. Gene Smith's poor drafting and FA signings easily set this franchise back by about 10 years. TEN YEARS!
I know that I'm not going to receive much support from anyone else on the board, but it's time that somebody stood up and spoke the truth. Truth hurts doesn't it?
I completely agree with you.

I've had it with Fisch and his play calling since about week 3 of last year. I can predict the play when we line up based on the situation and personnel on the field. I'm not a football coach by any stretch, but those who call opposing defenses can probably figure out what we're doing fairly quickly and it shows up with the result on the scoreboard.

If they keep Bradley and fire Fisch, who could they get for OC?
Marty Mornhinweg?
Bill Callahan?

You're position completely reasonable. While most may not agree with it, it's not unfounded.
I go back and forth regarding Bradley.
At the end of the day, I just don't see Caldwell cutting ties with Bradley after this season, so to me, I'm just trying to rationalize myself into being OK with seeing him back in 2015. I'm also at the point where I think there is a better than average chance that the coaching staff comes back with very minimum shakeup. It just seems like the typical, safe, status quo move.
With that said, I have no confidence in the staff as it's structure right now. I hope I'm completely off base. But I've been watching football since the 80s, and from what I've seen and experienced, these types of scenarios never play out well.

I agree but if Roman becomes available and Caldwell suggest replacing Fisch and Gus does that, there is no reason to get rid of Gus. How many OC did delrio go through some good some bad. Calling for Gus's head cause of who he hired his first season as coach is just dumb.

Who knows? There are probably going to be some guys available after the season. Maybe even a surprise or two. The NFL, to me, is a good ole boy network. Someone will get fired and be on the next flight to Jax. Let's not put the cart in front of the horse, but if Fisch goes, we'll get an upgrade.

Gabbert failed because he sucked. Coaching changes had nothing to do with it.
The problem is the team is not progressing. Nobody expected them to be good. Most did not expect them to be this bad.
Quote:Greg Roman
Would be a great pick up, he most likely will be out the door with Harbaugh in SF, we could scoop him up
He has done a great job with Kaep, this year Kap is having a down year but his first 2 seasons starting he was 6th and 7th in the NFL in QBR, and Bortles skill set is similar nice arm athletic, he would be what Jedd Fisch wish he was
Quote:Greg Roman
This is who I was going to suggest, but let's let the scenario in SF, and JAX for that matter, play out first. We don't want to get disappointed. Roman may go with Harbaugh wherever he winds up.
Quote:Greg Roman
Could be.
My point was this is not going to be a desirable situation for an OC to come into.

I don't think that 6 wins was an unreasonable expectation for this season back in August.
