Quote:Good luck to you and you family. Do you know, is it possible to drive in 70+ mph wind?
Yes, it is, but it's incredibly difficult, and any water on the road makes it nearly impossible.
Quote:Besides nuclear fallout, what would happen if you detonated a nuclear bomb in the eye of a hurricane?
Submerged, surface or in the atmosphere?
Submerged should create a tsunami that would wipe out the coastal areas, so that's probably not a great solution.
Quote:Watching coverage of this thing one would think that they are hoping for the catastrophic damage they keep predicting. They are instilling fear in those who are not used to such events. We have had Northeasters that will easily match this thing in intensity.
yeah, that one national weather guy who isnt local makes it think Jax is gonna flood like Hurricane Katrina

Relevant XKCD. The alt-text is especially relevant.

When?
at low tide the water is at the dunes on the beach, high tide and when the eye is close around 1:25pm, 3rd street might be flooded

If 3rd Street gets flooded by the storm surge, it will go all the way to the intercoastal. There's very little change in elevation across most of the beaches.

goodbye adventure landing.
I was just thinking about one of my favorite restaurants, Taco Lu. It is kind of in that "dip" next to Adventure Landing. There is a good chance the entire building will be underwater.

Think of it as an expansion of the waterpark

lol
when those weather people say catastrophic, i think of the flooding like in the movie San Andreas, with The Rock

Taco Lu is even lower than 3rd Street. That area will flood first as the intercoastal rises.
This is why I have paid close to $4000 a year in insurance premiums for the last 30 years I have lived here. I could use some remodeling. As becomes so trendy to say about 10 years ago with Katrina. " Where's my FEMA check ???".
Quote:No power sucks
Hope you prepared. It might be a day or two.

4K a year? That is a lot. I hope you don't get any damage, but if you do, good luck in your negotiations with the crooked insurance adjusters.
