I saw that too...and it was the concrete part, not just the wood boards! That's a bit of a ways to travel.

There are a bunch of trees down in my neighborhood, several people lost power, but mine never even flickered once. Hopefully anyone that doesn't have power gets it back quickly!

Winds to 18mph sustained. Gusting up to 25. It looks like it's 730pm outside. Very dark. And looking at radar we're right in the path of the heaviest rain pretty much all day. Yellow and orange all day long.

Silver lining is I was able to make my morning coffee without incident.

Ha. The metal roof is starting to ripple with the gusts. Yeehaw!!!

That was from the hurricane. It's actually a couple of days old.
They are going to try to open the intercoastal Neptune Beach bridge by noon today.

The caption should read: "Pollution caused by a factory of sadness."
We were lucky. We lost power once for about 20 seconds and my satellite dropped briefly a few times. It was nice to "hunker down" with the family after just returning from a long trip. I hope everyone affected gets back to normal soon.

Cold showers to keep me from sweating like I did 5 hours of yard work.

Was that shot from the new 9B state road in South Duval? Nice picture.
Quote:Guys, I know this sounds really stupid, but I'll say it anyway: lots of wasps were displaced during this storm when their nests blew away or their tree went down. Yes, I'm being serious here. For the next couple of weeks, there will be large clusters of them trying to find a place to crash. They will be large groups, they will be unhappy at the world, and they will sting the crap out of anyone that just happens to close a door ten feet away from their little resting place. Just ask my wife.

All kinds of nature has been displaced by this storm, and especially if you lost trees or had flooding nearby, expect to see insects, snakes and other assorted critters you're not used to seeing in large numbers. Assume that they're crankier than Archie Bunker at an Obama rally.

Caught 2 black racers so far.

I'm 3-4 miles from Doctors inlet so I'm expecting to see some cottonmouths soon once the ground dries up.

Nice picture.

Don't know if it's watermarked, but I can see the Jags using it in a neat marking stragety.
Sweet pic of the stadium.  kinda surprised they left the crane up.  I would think there is a way to retract those things in the case of strong winds.

Sustained winds now 30mph with gusts at 35-40 and occasionally up to 50. I am about 216 miles from where Matthew is now and getting this and it's a Cat 1. I can't imagine a 3 or 4.

Got power back up an hour ago. Hopefully those without will be next.
Did a quick survey of the house. No serious damage from what I can see. Lost a few roof shingles and part of my privacy fence has been knocked down but other than that we're OK. I'm looking at pictures on the news and needless to say we're very blessed.
We've achieved our bicentury hurricane quota. We should be safe for another 50 years.

People are parked on Atlantic Blvd and down San Pablo waiting for the bridges to open. Avoid that area if possible.
Quote:All good here at the beach. Lost power around 2, Genny on an purring after figuring out I didn't have it programmed correctly for autostart. Doh. Max gust we have seen maybe 60/70 mph? Started in on the crown royal. Looks like we got spared again. Gotta love that gulf stream .

I'm glad you made it through the hurricane, although I'm noticing you haven't posted on the boards since this post. Everything ok?
