Quote:Does JEA intend on restoring any areas tonight or do they have to wait until everything passes?

Unfortunately,  that doesn't look promising.   I hope your parents are ok.

1:25 PM: Important statement for all JEA customers:

Because of extensive outages restoration times has been extended to Sunday at noon. Restoration times will be updated as soon as we have more reliable data. For safety, crews have taken shelter to wait out the storm. Thank you for your patience.
How is everyone?

Lots of big trees down in Mandarin. A tree went through my friends living room off Beach Blvd.

Stay safe

Thanks. We only lost power an hour ago. I thought we were close to lucking out!

Got the Big Green Egg warming up right now for some BBQ chicken! Life isn't all bad, lol.

Our electricity has been out since 2. I plan on making grilled cheese on the grill in a little bit
All good here at the beach. Lost power around 2, Genny on an purring after figuring out I didn't have it programmed correctly for autostart. Doh. Max gust we have seen maybe 60/70 mph? Started in on the crown royal. Looks like we got spared again. Gotta love that gulf stream .
down in Port Orange, some pretty good damage in my neighborhood mostly fallen trees and branches everywhere.  Otherwise all is well lost power for about 7 hours and everything is back up and running.  Most everyone I know pretty much made it out unscathed.

Quote:Do you have a fire place? All those trees might come in handy if you do.
Sadly, no. I wish! I'd have a chainsaw out there already cutting up the tree that fell 2 weeks ago and stacking it for firewood. It's oak so that's some good wood for fires. May still go hack on it to get some for the firepit.
Quote:Just a few more hours to go and it will pretty much be over for us as far as this hurricane goes.

EXCEPT- according to the JEA power outage map, a couple of hundred thousand people in Jax are without power, and it will take several days to get it all fixed.

Is there anybody here who hasn't lost power?

(I mean at some point)

watching action news and they had some reporter in that parking deck above harmonious monks down at jax beach looking down on that shim sham bar (which has pretty good sliders btw....)

anyways there was no flooding there which surprised me.  I thought that area would be ripe for surge but it actually looked okay.  and the ocean levels seem to be back down on the beach and not up by the dune levels.

vilano beach looks hammered but that place has major erosion under normal circumstances.

The brunt of the storm surge occurring close to low tide was an incredibly lucky break.

That's right down the street from Martin's Steakhouse.. A little further down is the pier too..
I lost power about an hour ago and it's still gusting pretty bad out here. May be a while before I see a JEA crew.

I haven't...knock on wood. Lol

My dad just called me, he just lost power and he was a little panicked! He had knee replacement a couple of weeks ago and he was kicked back in his electric recliner when the power went out. Apparently there isn't an emergency release button for the leg section of the recliner and he almost wasn't able to get out of the chair because of his knee!!

I'm in Tennessee, but my sister in Murray Hill and cousin in Doctor's Inlet haven't had power since mid-afternoon.

That's pretty bad.  My biggest issue is that I can no longer make food warm or make the air cold.
