Nah, let's watch this puppy roll in from the roof deck bar at Casa Marina. Who's with me?
Quote:So to all you folks in the Jax area.
Is Clay County inland enough to avoid flooding? My parents live in Middleburg, and I'm worried about them.
Worrying will do you no good in life. But, having said that, if the storm is that bad then they could be in danger of flooding or wind damage depending on where they are at. . I don't think anyone remotely near the coast if "safe" from anything, if it's as bad as they say. But it's certainly better than being at the beach.
Quote:The wind and rain doesn't bother me too much; it's the 100+ foot pine trees all around my house that have me concerned.
Had mine cut down a few years ago because of stuff like this!!

My luck, I'd cut the tree down to prevent damage and it would land on my house or the neighbors house.
Is this the slowest moving hurricane or what?

That's why they have professions that do that kind of thing!

You hired professional beavers?

Do you know any that will work for free??

i thought beavers work to get the wood.
Don't give me a warning. I promise no pun was intended.

I think it's the wood that works to get the beavers...just sayin.

Idk why it is like that. Doesn't the wood create a home for the beavers afterwards? You think the Beavers would be more appreciative.

For the most part, Middleburg should be OK except for certain parts. If they live on Black Creek they could get some flooding. The last forecast models that I saw call for almost 12 inches of rain over Friday/Saturday during the worst part of the storm. Wind damage is also possible. The most miserable part would be power going out for an extended period of time.

I always thought that beavers created a home for the wood. :woot:

As long as it's warm and cozy
Quote: I hope you and everyone ( and those close to you ) on this Forum in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and other areas being threatened by Hurricane Matthew get through this Hurricane w/o anyone getting hurt. And no property damage.
Thank you.
So my parents live in Columbia, South Carolina. They're 100 miles inland so they shouldn't get much. I figure this would be a good excuse for my son and I to and visit them for a few days. So after boarding up the house I get the car packed, dogs, my son, guns, food, clothes, etc. Stop at a gas station to check my tire pressure and realize they're out of gas. Thinking ahead I call a few stations in Daytona, which is about where I would need to fill up. Everyone of them is out of gas! Guess we will be staying here and riding out this storm
Just crazy though, it was obviously a concern because I made the call but I did not expect it.
If they live on Black creek, they'd already know it's gonna flood. It floods in the summer.
Hate all this rain that isn't part of the storm. Gonna make trees fall.
Pines are usually fairly safe. They have deep roots.

Try going west to get fuel.

Just think, they make hats outta that fur.
For anyone still doubting whether this is serious: Jim Cantore is apparently doing live shots at Jacksonville Beach.
Places in South Carolina are evacuating. My Cousin lives down there, and she and her husband left already.
