Bridges starting to close
Raining and windy near NAS Jax.  The eye is still down around Daytona so we haven't seen the worst yet.

Haven't even lost satellite yet. So far no big deal. Hope it remains as such.

Looks like the cam is down and has been replaced with a YouTube video.
The weather station at NAS Jax shows sustained winds at 37mph with gusts up to 50.

Quote:There are plenty at Corrine Browns house.

Hopefully, after this, Corrine won't have a house here anymore.

I think he was talking about in the US.

Very true.
There is a butt ton of linemen with their trucks staged at the Columbia County Fairgrounds waiting to be dispatched when necessary to help with power outages. My cousin in Lake City posted the link from News4Jax on Facebook but I couldn't find it on their site.

I'm just concerned my car is going to float away

Is that the imperial or Kardashian scale?

I'm pretty sure that's the case as well.

The following article mentions the first known U.S. fatality from Hurricane Matthew:

 http://abcnews.go.com/US/hurricane-matth...d=42608853

Matthew also claimed its first U.S. victim after the St. Lucie County, Florida, sheriff confirmed a person died overnight when emergency officials could not get to the person after suspending operations because of the storm. The St. Lucie Fire Department said the victim, a woman in her late 50s, was suffering from cardiac arrest while wind gusts were at 68 mph. The fire department said crews could not safely respond and the woman died by the time crews arrived.

The hurricane had already claimed hundreds of lives as it tore through Haiti and other Caribbean nations.
They just said the expected storm surge for Jacksonville to be 6 to 9 feet with "wave activity on top of the surges."

Hunker down?  I can't be the only one who has no idea what this means.

I think Tim Deegan coined the phrase after his 8th DUI..

Yeah, my oldest daughter. I don't understand how someone doesn't know what this means. Hunker down: shelter in place and ride it out. Does no one use this term anymore?
