Draft
The Titans will trade out of Pick 2 with Browns, Rams or Eagles and QBs will be taken back to back leaving
Rd 1(3): Leonard Williams - DE - USC - 5 Tech DE or 3 Tech DT
Rd 2(36): Tevin Coleman - RB - Indiana - Jags Featured RB
Rd 3(67): Cedric Ogbuehi - ORT - Texas A&M - Needs to be Red-shirted with strength training (could play OLG)
Rd 4(103): Nick O'Leary - TE/H-Back - FSU - Jags version of Charles Clay of the Dolphins
Rd 5(138): Martrell Spaight - WLB - Arkansas - backup to Telvin Smith
Rd 6(175): Tony Washington - Otto LB - Oregon - backup Otto LB
Rd 7(220): Sam Carter - SS - TCU - backup Safety
Paul Kuharsky - ESPN Beat Writer for the Tennessee Titans said this in response to Mel Kiper Jr.'s selection of Leonard Williams to the Titans with the 2nd pick in the draft, "Williams looks like he would be a fine addition who would help the team, but a trade down is a better scenario in my eyes."
Might we see interest this week by the Jaguar Scouts at the Scouting Combine in Sean Hickey - OT - Syracuse due to his connections with Doug Marrone and Nathanial Hackett? Hickey just might be the Jags 6th or 7th Rd selection as a backup ORT or OG.
I've considered that as a possibility. I think if Hickey goes in the 3rd or 4th round that the Jaguars will have higher priorities. If, however, Hickey lasts until round 5 or 6, then the Jaguars may select him. NFLdraftscout.com has him listed as round 5-6. Other sites have him going in round 4.
The Jaguars' GM has said that the Jaguars may think about providing some competition at the OLG position where Beadles plays. To me that means drafting an interior OL in round 4 or 5. We'll have to see who is available and how it plays out on draft day.
Great Blue North Draft Site (gbnreport.com) has Sean Hickey ranked as their 166th player or late Rd 5 - early Rd 6.
Draftsitte.com has Sean Hickey taken at the end of Rd 4 by Green Bay with the 126th pick.
Drafttek.com has Sean Hickey also taken at the end of Rd 4 this time by the Patriots with Pick 128.
Couple Variations from the past mocks. I really want to see the combine, even if it doesn't mean much.
Resign JT Thomas
Free Agency
CB- Chris Culliver
RT- Joseph Barksdale
SOLB- Akeem Ayers / Sam Acho / Brooks Reed / Bruce Carter
Brooks Reed and Bruce Carter are more traditional LB, while Ayers and Acho have some rush skills.
TE- Jordan Cameron, only if his health checks out. Otherwise Gresham or Housler.
DE- Jason Pierre Paul
WR- Darrius Heyward-Bey, yes I know I will be scolded for this, but he should be cheap and offer a deep speed receiver. Hands may be an issue, but you all seem OK with Hurn's hands. Should be same.
Draft
Round 1- Leonard Williams
Round 2- Todd Gurley RB Georgia
Round 3- Chris Hackett FS TCU
A true center fielder for our defense.
Round 4- Ben Koyack / Tyler Kroft / Jesse James
Tight Ends that can block, and catch. James might not be as athletic, but we will find out at the combine.
Round 5- Max Valles SOLB Virginia
Raw Talent, but is athletic. Should have stayed in school for at least one more season.
Round 6- D.J. Humphries OT Florida/ Jon Feliciano OG/OT Miami
Round 7- Byron Jones CB/FS UCONN
Injured his shoulder senior year, but should be good to go for the combine.
This will give depth and competition.
Cable,
Love your selections.
My thoughts on Chris Culliver is that he could be converted to FS, since he played it at South Carolina before moving to CB. The Free Safety needs to be able to move sideline to sideline and so they need more than 4.6 speed.
I see you like Chris Hackett. I too am a fan, but his 40 time will be big at the Combine. If he runs in the 4.5's he could jump up to Rd 2. If he runs 4.65, he could fall to the bottom of Rd 3.
Regarding the LBs, the Jags need help to get younger and faster. The hole is at Otto and this is where I like Bruce Carter from the Cowboys, because he has 4.5 speed and excellent in coverage. He can also hold the edge, but more importantly he has the hands for the INT, (5 in 2014). I think he plays SLB on 1st and 2nd downs and then slides to the middle on 3rd, where the Jags put is their extra Pass Rusher from the Otto and rush 5 with 6 dropping in coverage. The key is getting pressure on the QB.
It looks like to me that the Giants will do whatever they can to keep JPP, even to the point of Franchising him. I think Jerry Hughes of the Bills will hit the market and would be perfect for the Leo DE, especially on 3rd downs.
Now would I like to get Akeem Ayers to be the 3rd down Otto Pass Rusher? Absolutely!!!
I like Jordan Cameron because he is a deep threat as a TE, but Rob Housler of the Cardinals is kind of a poor man's Cameron and he may come much cheaper. Both are 4.55 / 40 guys.
It definitely would be a dream come true for the Jags to land Gurley, but getting past Seattle may be a problem with Lynch talking about hanging it up.
I believe the Jags will nab either Tevin Coleman or Duke Johnson with the 2nd Rd pick.
If the Jags were forced to draft a LB then it would have to be in Rd 2, which is still a possibility especially if they fall in love with Paul Dawson and he is there at Pick 36.
Everybody seems to think that the Bucs will take Winston, but today the talk is they like Mariota, so Winston could fall right into the Jets laps at Pick 6 and the Jags may end up with Randy Gregory, which is OK with me, since I think he would be an awesome Otto LB and might become the next Clay Mathews or Von Miller. Imagine Hughes rushing from the Leo and Gregory from the Otto.
If Gregory is taken then the Jags may consider Carl Davis with their 2nd Rd pick or Xavier Williams with their 3rd Rd pick. With SenDerrick Marks hurt and coming off an ACL injury the Jags may need more help at the 3 Tech and the 5 Tech and Davis and Xavier Williams can both handle those positions.
I am hoping that Brennan Williams can contribute that way the Jags don't need to draft an ORT, but if they do and Ty Sambrailo drops like I think he will to the top of Rd 4, then he would be a nice selection to work with as an OT/OG.
Got a feeling that Max Valles will BLOW UP at the Combine and will need to be taken in Rd 3 if the Jags want him, which the team just might.
I think that D.J. Humphries will be taken in Rd 3, because he is athletic, he just needs to get stronger and more coaching. If he fell to the Jags pick in Rd 4, then he must be considered.
I still like Mike Wallace from the Dolphins but only if they cut him. His contract is too high at 10 Mil per year. I would favor trading a Rd 7 pick to the Dolphins to get him if he would agree to take less money in his contract and get bonus money upfront. I think 3 years for 20 Mil with 10 Million upfront, so he gets his money but the Jags get perhaps the fastest WR in the league.
(Realistic) Free Agency:
FS Devon McCourty if not tagged
RB Ryan Matthews (inj prone I know)
RT/G Orlando Franklin
WR - hope that Blackmon comes back strong.
Who wants to come to Jacksonville? That's what we are looking at folks. Don't believe the big-name spending spree hype.
Draft:
1. LEO - Randy Greogory
2. TE - Maxx Williams (RB Duke Johnson or Tevin Coleman if no RB in FA)
3. LB - best available, TE if we don't get one in FA

2. Maxx Williams - TE - Minnesota
3. Paul Dawson - LB - TCU
4. Phillip Dorsett - WR - Miami (I cant imagine he'd be available here)
5. Arie Kouiandjo - OG - Bama (would be surprised if he is still here in the 5th)
6. Austin Shepherd - OT - Bama (again surprised) .... ** i may change this to Grady Jarrett - DT- Clemson (he is a 3rd rounder, not a 6th)
7. Ray Drew - DL - Georgia (again surprised... changed his role this year causing his stats to fall)

that mock draft has Phillip Dorsett going undrafted. He is listed as an alternative pick for a few selections late in the 7th round.
Just goes to show you that these 7 Round Mock Drafts have a lot of data and are limited to the opinion of the author.
As sexy of a sign DeMarco murray would be I don't think we get the same guy who was in dallas. We have an offensive line which even with help is nowhere near Dallas. I see there being a bidding war for him and imo highest bidder wins and then uve overpaid for a player in a position that u def don't want to. Every year theres a team that dives into free agency head first for a ton of talent and then by the end of the year they've overpaid and cutting the same guys a year in half later. There is a lot of talent on the board but I think a very good running back can be had at a lot lower price in a deep draft for rb's Heres my plan to restore the roar.
Players Resigned:
Tyson Alualu DE 6'3 295lbs
The dude is still young and although he has not performed up to his potential he still is a top 10 talent and I don't think weve gotten everything out of him just yet. I think we need and can restructure his contract to keep him around cuz with a banged up defensive line we need as much healthy talent as we can get. Alualu can still play and I think hes still got more for us.
Geno Hayes OLB 6'1 230lbs
Solid contributor, veteran, and a key to the success of these young linebackers. I think keeping hayes around is a big and smart move.
Cecil Shorts WR 6'0 202lbs
Hands down the best receiver on our team who knows the offense and has been in the system for soo long how could u let him go with the youth behind him at wide receiver...he imo is the key to the success of robinson and lee. gotta keep shorts, no question about it.
J.T Thomas OLB 6'1 235lbs
This guy bursted onto the scene this year and it seemed as if his name was being called after everyplay. Thomas flys sideline to sideline and I don't see how you can let someone that young showing serious signs of outstanding play go to another team. Gotta bring back Thomas and it wont cost us a thing.
Will Ta'ufo'ou FB 5'11 247lbs
This guy needs to be resigned. He is a top tier blocking fb and that we cant afford to have go elsewhere, its too hard to replace. Especially when were going to be bringing in a young running back.
Free Agents:
Jason Pierre Paul DE 6'6 278lbs- I think after a couple quiet season batteling injuries he can be had at a proper price and can give us an immediate impact off the edge from day 1. Still and elite talent with a lot left.
Byron Maxwell CB 6'1 207lbs- His stock is rising fast and I like the connection between gus and Maxwell during their days together in seattle. Maxwellfits the mold of what the nfl demands out of corners these days. hes a big bodied physical corner with outstanding ball skills and can come up on the run and lay hat. Maxwell would be our best free agent sign.
Devin McCourty S 5'10 195lbs- McCourty is the ball hawking that the back end NEEDS. With cyprien laying the wood u need a compliment to that. McCourty is that. McCourty and Cyp together would be tough to throw on.
Charles Clay TE 6'3 255lbs- Id probably go Jordan Cameron here but too many concussions worry me and with new protocol, I don't wanna touch him. Charles Clay along with Maxwell will be the most imo beneficial player out of these free agent signings. Under the ambitious assumption we are able to restructure Mercedes to a more appropriate contract, you couple Charles clay with the big boy and defenses in the middle of the field are screwed. We all know a TE is a QB's best friend....so lets go get him 1.
Jason Worilds OLB/DE 6'2 262lbs- Worilds since being in the league has been molded correctly. He was a steeler. He is the relentless bullying mentality our defense needs and you throw him into the mix of getting to the qb offenses are going to have nightmares. Worilds can be had a good price and he will be worth the money. Good, Tough, Mean and high motor football player.
Antoine Cason CB 6'1 195lbs- Cason is a solid vet with a lot of football knowledge and can still compete on the field at a very competent level. There is a lot of youth in the secondary and I think it would help tremendously bring in someone like cason. Big Physcial corner with good ball skills and solid tackler. His current salary is 100,000. That's pocket change. To me this is a no brainer.
NFL Draft:
1. Leonard Williams DT/DE Southern Cal 6'5 298lbs
Although this pick needs no explanation, il keep it short and simple..its been a while since Ive seen a freak like this.
Randy Gregory OLB/DE Nebraska 6'6 248lbs
Gregory along with these other two are among the top overall players in this draft. If you watch the tape on Gregory you'll understand why. He takes over.
Shane Ray OLB/DE Missouri 6'3 245lbs
Honestly reminds me a lot of von miller but better hands and a higher motor, he looks unstoppable. Il take either one these three beasts at pick 3.
2. Cameron Erving OT FSU 6'5 308lbs
I think this is a no brainer. The offensive line needs a top tier OT and Erving can play all three positions alng with Guard Center. That versatility for us is priceless.
3. T.J Yeldon RB Alabama 6'2 221lbs
Honestly Yeldon is this years Leveon Bell. Same smooth runner with almost identical build but yeldon I think has top end speed on him. Yeldon is the playmaker much needed on this offense. Couple him with shoelace robinson and we got a nice little thing going now outa our backfield.
3. Steven Nelson CB Oregon State 5'11 200lbs (comp pick)
Nelson plays huge on the outside and shutdown some top notch receivers this year. Very physical and confident Corner. Our DB's need help. Nelson is that help. Maxwell, McCray, Nelson, Cason and Gratz isnt all that bad of a group of corners going into 2015.
4. Ty Montgomery WR Stanford 6'1 216lbs
Montgomery has got a lot that stands out to scouts. His explosiveness, top end speed, and yards after catch and what he can do in open space reminds me a lot of Antonio brown. He needs to work on his hands but that can be fixed. He however has the two things you cant teach size and speed. Dude was also an electric kick returner. Cecil Shorts, Alan Robinson, Marquis Lee, Allen Hurns, ty Montgomery, and Ace sanders sounds damn good to me.
5. Kurtis Drummond FS Michigan State 6'1 205lbs
Dummond has been a baller for the "no fly zone" out there at Michigan state since 2011. Hes a smart football player good tackler and fantastic ball skils. I think adding some depth at our safety position is a must. Id feel better have someone like Drummond behind McCourty and Cyprien.
5. Jordan Hicks OLB Texas 6'2 236lbs (comp pick)
Hicks has had an injury plagued career at texas until his final season. in his final season he went off and beasted. Take away his injuries he is in the 2nd round discussion. OLB is a need of depth and Hicks does that and more. potential starter in this league. He flys around and was Texas's playmaker on the defensive side along with Malcom brown upfront. He covers the pass and run very well and is a perfect fit in the fast flying defense weve got going right now.
6. Josh Robinson RB Miss State 5'9 215lbs
This kid is built to play running back and although with the yeldon pick earlier u might be wondering why another but just think what happens if yeldon goes down...we are back to square 1. Robinson is the insurance pick who has out of this world potential. We all know and have seen what he can do. I think adding more talent and depth behind bortles the better.
7. Max Garcia OG/C Florida 6'5 305lbs
Was a solid starter at both guard and center for florida for three straight years and played at a high level against top competition. Versatility is key here. Theres big question marks on the oline and center and guard being one of them. Garcia is pro ready and I wouldn't be surprised if we brought him in, he was starting either guard or center by the regular season
The 53
QB: Blake Bortles, Chad Henne
RB: TJ Yeldon, Denard Robinson, Storm Johnson, Josh Robinson
FB: Will Ta'ufo'ou

I dipped into free agency quiet a bit but that's what we have all been told will happen. With this they bring in a lot of guys that didn't kill the bank account and will provide a massive impact on the field and eventually in our record. With this off season plan tho whole roster improves and it puts a ton of talent around bortles and most importantly sets up the offensive line for success by adding key talent where need be.

Without going over everything in detail, I just wonder, why are you getting rid of our 1 tech DT? You have us going strictly pass rush line. Its a madden type line as they don't care about which tech people play. You are really opening up for runs against our defense.
Then you have us bringing in a lot more people for our secondary. You have us getting a FS and 2 CBs in free agency. Then drafting a FS and 2 CBs. That would be 6 new members of the secondary.

K well first of all I forgot to throw red Bryant in front of worilds so thats just a mistake. Im from seattle and know all about red and what he can do so again it was just an honest mistake and I dont have us cutting bryant. Now on to the DB'S. First of all there would only five new additions to the second...3 corners and a 2 safeties. Drafting umm 1 corner in nelson, signing two in Maxwell and cason, then signing one day 1 starter along side cyprien in mcCourty and drafting Drummond. Thats five new member to the worst and most needed position of help on the team by far. A. In as passing league espeaciall with guy like luck you play twice...u can never have too many corner. Maxwell gives a shutdown on one side nelson gives a day slot cover guys do to his physical play and quickness, and cason adds knowledge veteran depth who can still play. Im not sure how or why u wowouldn't want that. Now at safety...with the big boom in cyprien you need a compliment to cover and mcCourty is that guy. So look not sure if I agree with u at all one bit. But hey I just want a better jaguar football team in 2015... hence all the upgrades.
