Gurley or Gordon does make sense at 11 if they trade AP. It's sounding like they are asking too much though, but hard to say.
My hunch is the Jaguars would prefer to address the front 7 on Defense with the pick # 3 draft resource. Yet, if Amari Cooper or Kevin White is ranked on a higher cluster than any of the Front 7 candidates that are available with pick # 3 and the Jags don't receive a trade down offer they like, I think Cooper or White will be the pick. Having said that, I believe the Jaguars brass rates Allen Robinson higher than the Vikings rate any WR on their roster. Providing of course that Robinson is medically ok. It wouldn't surprise me if Dave Caldwell believes that Robinson can be a # 1 WR.
Vikings GM Rick Spielman is a very good negotiator when it comes to trades. If anyone can get something substantial for Peterson, Rick Spielman comes to mind as someone I would want at the negotiating table. The trade he pulled off for Percy Harvin with Seattle, when the Vikings leverage was limited because of Harvin's baggage, was remarkable. That's one of a number of examples of Spielman's skill with trades.

Plenty of good WRs in the second/third rounds BUT probably not a number 1 WR.

That's a good question and the type of question that I'm sure is being discussed at length at the Jaguars pre-draft meetings.
My two cents is the drop-off will be greater for the edge rushers on Defense than it is for the WR's. If the Jaguars want a WR with pick # 36, I think they can get enough value, if not good value. I have serious doubts that will be the case with the edge rushers on Defense. There probably will be DT and/ or LB options with pick # 36 that would provide at least enough value. With it being close to the expected WR value. But with the Jags needing to upgrade the edge pass rusher situation, that might not be a viable option if the team stays in the # 36 spot.
Also depends what type of role they need the WR to fill. If they are looking for a true #1 then it's going to be much more difficult to find that in the 2nd round, whereas they may have a better chance at finding a LEO at that point.

Preston Smith is a bigger DE than Fowler and put up nearly identical numbers (more sacks/ints but less TFL) and put up better combine #s minus the 40...
Nate Ochard/Eli Harold are 2 others…Trey Flowers is another possible 3rd round or later edge guy.
But as for depth of WR in the 2nd two possibly 3 of the below could be sitting there @ 36:

The drop off is more significant at Leo than at WR going into the 2nd round. I think Dave can find a good starting caliber slot receiver in round 2, while the Leo found in round 2 is likely a backup/developmental or 3rd down specialist guy.

When I expressed my comments above, I was going under the assumption that Eli Harold wouldn't be available for the Jags with pick # 36. It's realistically possible Harold drops that far. Yet, with the demand for edge rushers being higher than the supply, I think there's only around a 35 % to 40 % chance he lasts to the Jags scheduled pick. If Harold is available and the Jags don't get an edge rush prospect in Round 1 that projects as a LEO, Harold would seem to be a great 2nd Round choice for the team.

I know some will disagree with me. But I value Tyler Lockett more than Phillip Dorsett. If the Jags get Lockett in Round 4, that would appear to be a great step for the team moving forwards. Especially, with Lockett's value on Returns and Special Teams Coverage combined by what he can provide on Offense. I don't think he will last to Round 4 but there have been MANY things happening in past drafts that were unexpected on this end.

I know he shouldn't be available, but I am hoping. I just prefer Josh Shaw in round 3 to Tyler Lockett. I believe Shaw could be a good free safety. Lockett is more polished than Dorsett, but Dorsett's speed is an excellent weapon.

If the Jaguars don't draft a Safety in the top 3 Rounds and Josh Shaw is drafted by the time the team is expected to pick in Round 4, what Safety who realistically could be available from Round 4 on do you prefer?
Threads like this one and so many others on this section of the Forum are a very helpful tool in the pre-draft process and after the draft. An example of this for me is you mentioning Utah WR-RS Kaelin Clay months ago. Clay eventually had a Pre-Draft visit with the Lions and is a realistic option on Day 3.

I've been seeing Drummond fall to the 4th or later in a lot of mock drafts. He is a backup option. I did start liking Hackett also, but his 40 time was eye opening. But I still prefer Josh Shaw. I have been hoping for him for a long time.
Clay was one of the top leading punt returners, which is why I liked him. Figure he could last to round 5 or 6.

I finished the 2nd Round of my Mock Draft a few minutes ago and ended up giving the Seahawks Josh Shaw with pick # 63. For Seattle, I'm viewing him as a press CB. The Pete Carroll connections to USC and the Seahawks needing help at the position factored into my decision. Another possibility for Seattle at CB is Eric Rowe, Kaelin Clay's college teammate.
I'm now anticipating a run on Safeties starting in the latter part of Round 2, For the Jaguars and other teams needing a Safety, waiting to Round 4 to address the position has significant risk.
Regarding Clay, I think the 6th Round is probably the most likely destination.
